I think the promo is great exactly how it is. Only change i could see is dropping those $1k payouts to $599 and reallocating the rest of it (like all 4 HH should be $599)

Math is hard
Then let's try a rephrase of the prior claim. In a standard (per RRoP) 4-8 LHE game, your max cash at risk unless you choose otherwise, is $96. That is you can't be forced to make decisions for more than that amount.

Now if NH has decided to have a bet and four raises instead of three, that increases the cap. Similarly at some places a straddle can change the cap. But the reality is at LHE there is a cap you know before entering a pot unless you choose to put more at risk.

As was noted and is certainly no issue. But doesn't change LHE by its nature and structure has a max per hand risk cap that can not be taken from a player

The point actually was that 4/8 is not even close to a 1/3 NLH size game.

That is just nonsense and the analysis is just too simple. Average pot size is way higher for 4/8 than 1/3. The structured nature is going to introduce more variance so it depends on what you call a "bigger" game.

Regarding whether 1/3 or 4/8 in general plays bigger, if you'd like to continue that discussion please make a new thread for that issue in Poker Theory or the main LCP forum.

I did my best not to derail, but now im kind of curious if someone has a reasonable argument to defend 4/8 as playing as big as 1/3, so I made a thread.

I was excited for your first event and am glad that you're starting to put on serious events. I understand why you wouldn't want to dream too big on your first event, but I think that guarantee will cap the potential field at something like 350-450 entrants at best.

Possibly, but looking at data from competitors in the market, that number appears to be about what to expect regardless of a guarantee.

Any chance of a mixed games/ dealers choice tourney? I'd guess 500 + vig would be a good price point that would still draw from some of the 10-25 mix players as well as low enough to attract some fresh faces.

True, but our options are limited as far as space goes.

I think the structure affects it a little more. If it's really really good they'll smash the guarantee.

Would love to have a PLO event that caters to 5/5 and above players - $1500 buy-in would be a nice sweet spot. MD Live and Borgata only ever seem to have $550 and $350 PLO events. Even if it doesn't get many runners, the event would still be enjoyable.

THANK YOU!!! Thrilled to have a tournament series in my own backyard. The poker room has been great and we appreciate all you do to incorporate player feedback. Looking forward to this!

Any idea how many starting flights/days there will be for the $565? If day 2 starts Sunday, it'd be nice to have an evening Saturday flight to accommodate those getting back into town early Saturday.

1K PLO a possibility.... with a reload (free chips held in reserve to lower variance. Chips could be put into play any time in first 6 levels, or used as a second bullet if a player gets busted)

For those in the area, what do you feel is the best time to run secondary afternoon events? Traffic is a consideration I am looking at... Eastbound traffic over the bridge is at its heaviest from 3pm-6pm...

Dealer's choice tourney seems problematic.

I would be for an unlimited $1K rebuy event - think it would be awesome action, but this sounds good too. Thanks for listening, as always.
