I'm guessing no tourney on Tuesday? How about Monday? Anything else change for the holiday weekend?
Thx.

GOOD:

The addition of a creamer machine to the self-serve coffee bar is greatly appreciated!

BAD:

The BBJ resetting at $2,500 is the lowest baseline amount I've ever seen in any casino.

The reduced rake policy being that one must ask before the cards are even dealt in order to have it granted for the first hand of short-handedness is annoying and seems like a slimy, unfair policy that's designed to take advantage of the slightest lapse in mental awareness by the players. I've ranted about this in the past but I had another issue with it the other day.

Also, a surprising number of dealers are under the impression that reduced rake is 3+2 instead of 3+1.

Decided to take you up on this. New dealer sat down and I asked for a floor explaining that the food button had been pressed 15 minutes ago. They chuckled and said it's gonna be a lot longer than that, which I agreed with but showed them this post. They promptly agreed and got a floor over. Floor goes to check on the situation and says food runner will be over in 5 minutes. 15 minutes go by and the runner he said was coming hadn't arrived but I saw another runner taking orders at a neighboring table. The runner started walking away (to be fair, my table # was off the screen for food orders) but I chased them down to put in an order. 40 minutes later my food arrives.

All in all about a 70 minute ordeal which I sort of expect to be "the norm" but it seems like things could (and should?) be quicker based on Johnny's post. Then again, I guess it could've been a much longer wait had I not taken the initiative to move things along twice.

.

This is a good thing as it allows great promos like the ones in July. I'd still rather there be no JP fund but Johnny does a great job of getting the money back to the players.

Johnny, do the food runners have the ability to see which table's light has been on the longest? If so, in theory they could tend to the tables in order of how long they've been waiting. But it certainly doesn't appear that that's the case. From what I can tell, they tend to select which tables to serve on a seemingly random basis, often skipping over the table that's been waiting the longest but is being patient and not raising the issue with the floor.

I would hope that JG has better things to do than worry about your food runner times. It takes a long time to get food ran and this backs up around dinner time.

If it's really that big of a deal you can get something in the food court relatively fast or even order to go at shake shack.

FWIW I usually do go to the food court on my own, was just taking Johnny up on something he advised to do. It's hard to improve the process if no one does anything and just accepts the current situation as status quo.

backup bbj is dumb, id be fine if it reset at $0. Why do you want to support a system that causes our money to be stuck in limbo for longer?

Was there when the BBJ hit, was sad i wasnt at the table, and also an annoying angleshooter was at the table.

It's not like a huge portion of the promo drop is going to the BBJ anyway. A little birdie mentioned that the reserve is massive. They have to be dropping way more than they're handing out. Which is as it should be. No need for huge promos right now. If it starts to slow I expect the promos will increase.

If 5000/hr isn't a huge promo, I'm curious what is?

+1 to this. If there has to be a promo drop, the current way Johnny is doing it is far better for the players than a bigger BBJ. The July lineup of promos is the best I've seen anywhere. Tons of players getting promo money, game play isn't affected, and a majority of the room is excited every hour. It's almost like JG knows what he's doing.

Looking To Visit MGM NH Tomorrow, Have They Started Charging For Self-Parking In The Garage Yet? If Yes What Is The Fee?

First time at MGM this weekend. Was a great time. Really a great room and could have easily had more tables opened if it was bigger. Not sure if this is a common occurrence. It was super busy and everyone was handling it great.

Just curious as to if one chip is a call in this room?

There was a lot of hullabaloo about the one chip rule in this thread before the place opened and it was much Ado about nothing.

Yes I believe one chip is a call.

This +1. Love the promos, everyone love sthe hot table. As fas as play not affected, I am curious if people think the promos are making 2/5 tougher (5/10 players coming down to 2/5)

For what its worth, I have been one chip called by someone at another caisno and then they refused to pay and just walked out of the casino with my money. Even more bizarre it was only like $40 iirc.

I think the official rule is that they're supposed to make the pot right before proceeding. So tossing one chip is a call but the dealer is supposed to get the full call before dealing the next card or calling for showdown. It's inconsistent though. Some dealers do it and others make it right after the showdown.

I think just about every thing about the room is amazing, but breaking cash game tables when there is already a big list AND a great promo going on for a Green Chip Bounty tournament is one of the worst decisions I've seen a room make

With all due respect, all data we had pointed to warm weather holidays being much slower than the ones when we first opened. We had to make a decision whether or not to have tournaments this week by June 10. We gambled, and we lost. I don't want to pull the garbage move of opening one table just to say we had the tournament. Sorry for the long lines and the wait.

Ah ok. That's unfortunate for the cash game players that the decision needed to be made a few weeks ago and not when registration would open. Obviously some people would be unhappy when the decision was made.

People have mentioned that there is a lot of complaining without much praise so I also want to say that MGM has some of the best floor staff of any poker room I've ever played in. Especially on the issue of players sitting or moving when they weren't allowed to. Whenever it was pointed out to they very quickly and professionally fixe the situation and many times they catch these players before anyone has a chance to bring it up.

I had a Thur-Sun poker visit planned, and then early in my trip the July promos were released and I saw that Monday went from $500 per hour to $3000-$5000 per hour and I booked another night. Early this afternoon, room was full spread with 100ish waiting while the room up the road had 20 tables going.

Any veteran of the days of the Chuck knows that these are really small hiccups compared to the monumentally bad planning that was extremely routine back then.

The overworked staff handled it like troopers today, imo.

Big difference from the Chuck and MGM is that Johnny has already proven himself capable of learning.

The lines yesterday were unfortunate. Combo of the giant promo and the regions rather unique habits. Even though we're not all Fed workers the Fed schedule is still a big influence. Days like that - the Monday before a holiday and the "minor" federal holidays like Columbus day and Veteran's Day tend to draw big crowds.

I suspect Johnny already does this but consultation with the floors that came from MDL can help judge the crowds. MGM also continues to have some "new hotness" boost too.

So there's now a rule where dealers get in trouble for shouting out if there's a seat open. Since the floor is very slow to recognize seats being opened (commonly waiting 20+ minutes) the burden of the responsibility is falling on the players (aka customers) to walk over and ask the floor to fill the seats. Please allow dealers to call out for seats (or at least at games where there are main games/must moves).

Johnny, please confirm or deny whether this is a rule/policy. Thanks.

Dealers don't "get in trouble". We prefer they don't continually shout across the room.
