don't agree with the change but if they do make the change, I would (as Klez suggested) get seat change buttons

Fighting over the seat change button is something that happens often at Live and it doesn't contribute to a friendly atmosphere IMO.

It's rarely been an issue at MGM. It's a policy that seemed to be working well. Why change it?

How do they not get preference? If they wanted a seat change, all they hadda do was ask. I'm often sitting down in games and immediately ask for a seat change if I'm in a seat at the end where I can't see the flop too good.

In the rooms I play in that have actual seat change lammers, they always get lost, and the dealer is always wasting time looking for it upon request because people like to steel them. If they were using them just use a clear lammer instead, or do what Borgata does they have paper seat change cards.

Hey everyone,

Thinking about making a trip out to the DC area before end of the year

How are the 1/3 games here compared to Vegas?Surely they have to be better.

Any general advice?

Any hotel recommendations that are okay/cheap close to the casino. Would have a car with me.

Thanks!

They would be in the middle of a hand and someone would join a table when another person got up. Rare situation but it happened late night this Monday.

$500 max buy in is nice, but I don't really play much anymore. I've always liked the Hampton Inn in the harbor. Pretty cheap and clean and garage parking available.

for some reason, i like playing with a $200 stack even though i bring $1500 with me.

if waiting for 1/3, i play 2/5 with a min stack.
i was once assigned to a table with every one else at least $1000. (This was pre-covid.)

it was funny to see how i changed the dynamic of the table, especially when i limp/3bet a couple of times in the 1st 2 orbits.
there was a humungous stack to my right and people were afraid of calling my big 3bet for fear of him 4 betting.

I put in over 1300 hours at live last year. I have never once seen any arguing or unfriendly atmosphere over the seat change button once

Did not try it when I was at NH, but anywhere else, the player in a hand could certainly tell the dealer 'I want that seat'. Person at the table does have priority of someone new coming in for a seat until the new player money is 'on the table'. [everywhere I have played much at least]

I love when the other regs politely say **** you by seat changing to my left rather than accept the duel like a man of honor!

No policy has been changed. If two or more players request a seat change, the player with seniority gets it.

nothing like the guy who sits down gets his tablet and headphones out, waits 5 hands to come in for free who asks for a seat change button right away. Definitely giving that guy action.

The new policy sounds like what MGM properties in Vegas do.

Borg23,

I know that guy, he plays at TX Card House Dallas, The Wynn/Encore, Aria, and plenty of other places as well. LOL

I see youtube vids of people recording while they play but asked Mike about it and he said its not allowed and will day ban you the first time they catch you and further consequences if they catch you again. I dont really understand why some casinos do and dont allow it. I guess the youtube videos ive seen they are just sneaky about it.

Random suggestions to improve the room:

- Allow talking heads up. I promise you banning this is not speeding up the game and just results in a table debate if it's actually allowed or not. The poor dealers correctly enforcing this dumb rule usually take heat from the players, hurting their tips. Plus talking makes the game more fun for all.

- Allow light snacks in the room (anything that comes out of wrapper)

- Allow people to be on phone calls during hands. If cheating is suspected address it on a case by case basis (spoiler alert: will never happen). If someone is slowing down the game because of their calls, they lose the privilege. I find most people act even faster when they have a phone call to take. This is already a defacto thing, most dealers just thankfully don't enforce it. Might be a stupid gaming commission rule?

- Dedicated floor actually planted on the upper platform 24/7 to manage only the games up there. We have the longest wait times I've ever seen in any casino when it comes to getting an open seat filled and often we have to scream and go hunting for a floor when one needs to be called for anything.

- Mic volume still insanely loud killing all table conversation anytime it's talked into for anyone in the middle of the room under the speakers.

- Any update on Bravo Waitlist option or has that been scrapped? Brush has been much better about answering phones lately, but would be nice to have this option available.

"Plus talking makes the game more fun for all."
No, it does not.

"Allow people to be on phone calls during hands."
God, no.

If they allow phone calls during hands, I will pretend calling my poker coach just for shits and giggles.

"So, yeah, I raised from the LJ, then this donkey who hasn't raised in 2 hours 3bet me to..

- Who are you talking to?

- My poker coach, give me a sec. So yeah, as I was saying. He 3bet 6x my PFR....

- You can't be talking to your coach in the middle of the hand.

- I can... what is that. Fold? I should fold my QQ, right?

- Floor, he's talking to a coach about folding QQ preflop.

- Yeah, I agree, it's nitty, but you have to do it sometimes."

There’s a lot or fire trucks police and a truck labeled bomb squad parked outside p3 and p4 parking entrances making parking an issue. I used the overflow lot. Asked security what was going on and they didn’t know but said if it was serious we would have evacuated by now. Just a PSA that parking is messy at the moment.

Wow the curtains on the elevated platform are just atrocious looking. I hope you guys are planning a nicer permanent solution if you decide to keep it

I actually like them. Feels cozy and private. If people have a problem, maybe a different color? Beige?

Question thanks in advance if anyone knows the answer. I signed up for a players card about 4 years ago. I went 3 or 4 times but haven't been back in over 3 years. I went for the first time again this past weekend but did not have my players card so I did not use it, nor did I valet. I just received a promotional email acknowledging that I just visited. How can they know I was there when I hadn't used ID? I did not purchase anything or eat there either.

No good idea. Best guesses:

1- You had to give ID at some point and they scanned it.
2- facial recognition

Do you have the MGM app in your phone?

I used to have a Khols app, (I think it was Khols) and while driving past a random Khols one day it gave me a notification to "stop in to take advantage of a sale" or something to that effect (again not sure of the store or exact message but because I had the app they knew I was there).
