I think more specifically it has to do with how cheap MGM corporate is. Their MGM2020 plan clearly laid out how they were going to cut costs and reduce overhead - I can only imagine that trickled down to the dealers. MGM just isnt going to spend money on something that costs them money.
Cocktail service is a good example and has been an issue with day 1. I dont think I've ever waited less than 30-45 minutes for a drink. If you simply hired/staffed more servers in the busy time, this ceases to be an issue. But - thats never going to happen.
Got into a good discussion with a couple guys in the room last weekend and I think we all agreed we should consider ourselves lucky that the room is still open post-Covid. Look at the new e-table games they are installing, clearly intended to serve more customers while paying fewer dealers.
At what I would consider a "locals casino" - they traditional arguments about why poker rooms are good for a casino just dont apply IMO. That space could fit a lot of their newer slot machines.
