Another downside is that you may end up with lots of people who sign up "just in case" but then change their minds or don't come, and now the brushes have to do a lot more work to clear the lists if they haven't checked in by a certain elapsed time, and it might take longer to fill seats as a result.
At MD live, when you call in advance, they put a phone icon next to your name; you then have to check in when you arrive. No one ends up waiting because of you. If you don't check in, they don't call your name.

Advance sign ins especially help on weekends when waiting times can get very long. Consider Friday. Traffic is a nightmare from 3 to 7-7:30 and it can take you an hour and a half for a 20 minute drive. So if you want to avoid traffic, you can either come to the casino at 3-4 pm or wait until 8pm. But if you arrive at 8pm, depending on the game, you can find yourself waiting for another hour or two because the room is full.

It's really a tremendous quality of life improvement.

I understand how callins work, and use them all the time myself as well.

I didn't mean they would waste time calling your name before you'd checked in (though in some rooms I'll bet that happens too). But they will have to spend time going through the callins, checking their elapsed time, and removing the ones that are over (say) an hour, which can be a bit of extra work. Right now it's not really an issue with a few of them there, but what happens when lots of people start using it and then just not showing up?

It can also be a pain for people who are in the room and want to see where they are on the list. The callins still sort based on when they were added. So if there are more than ~20 of them at the top of the list (who haven't checked in yet), no one farther down the list will even be able to see where they are. You might be next up and not see your name.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing against it. I'd prefer to be able to just check myself in via the app as well, rather than have to call in, wait for them to pick up, sometimes put me on hold, etc. I'm just saying it's not like there aren't downsides to the room if they choose to implement it.

Same.

The travel time from my house to live and MGM is about the same. I rarely head to the MGM after logging off work for the day because I don't want to wait that long to get into a game. Play 2/5, but will sign up for 1/3 and 2/5 45 minutes before arriving. When I arrive in Just about always at top of 1/3 and often top of 2/5. Will sit in 1/3 so at least I'm playing while waiting for 2/5.

I'm sure there are other issues involved but in general I'm not going to apologize for wanting the hosts/brushes to DO THE JOB that a host/brush should be doing. Awh man, I'm sorry this is work for you? I'm sorry that I would like just some modicum of service for the money I'm going to lay out.

MDL again proves they are willing to make it as easy as possible for their players.

MGM just doesnt get it. If it costs money, if it costs FTE time, if it in any way puts them out - forget it, they will continue to treat you like its a privilege to walk into their room.

Sarcasm - mostly. But not entirely.

Where's the like button. Dcmidnight ftw, 100 percent correct which is why I rarely go to MGM anymore and the great majority of players I speak with agree.

100% agree. I haven’t been to MGM this year and don’t plan on going. I used to go 3-4 times a week Why?

1: its 2021 and you still can’t call in

2: still can’t earn tier credits for room discounts when going to Vegas

3. Now stopping nightly tournaments

4. Drink service is horrible

Players aren’t incentivized to go anymore. Yes the games used to be good. So I dealt with it. Games are worth going to if you aren’t appreciated for being a regular customer

$5+0 rake would be best here, like Bellagio! Demand MGM NH get rid of the $+2 for horrible promos that run at the worst hours!!!

No, people like these promos and it attracts gamblers. If you want to get rid of the the +2 just play higher stakes or Omaha. The 5/T is timed rake and would be nice if it had more than 2 games running.

They do need to fix the rake at the low stakes games like the limit games. The current rake structure makes the 4/8 limit game difficult to beat.

I go once or twice a week now. It really is a poorly run room. I just found other things to do.

I am still holding out hope that the new poker room manager will take this feedback to heart. At the very least, he should avoid going for an adversarial relationship with his customers.

I will also add that I am pretty happy with the stuff, the vast majority of which are polite and competent at their jobs.

Has anyone else had their color up short by a large amount lately? Just wondering if this is more than an isolated issue. (Probably is...they checked the cameras and sorted it out.)

PS: Ginger's new noodle bar is really tasty and fast...good for a quick bite without taking a dinner break. Also Diablo's Cantina tex mex is finally open...so many types of guacamole!

The 1st color up of the tournament didn't take place until 5:30pm. I did it personally. I see your post here was at 2:39pm. Now if that's left coast time reflected let me also posit this. The only time surviellance was called was because we went to break and a table had to break too. Going from 17 players to 16. We did have to call Surviellance to see whose chips belonged where as the players left the breaking table to enjoy their break instead of dropping their chips off at their new seating assignments. The color up took place when all the players returned.

Oh I should have been clearer: this was a cash game color up, not tourney.

No, he is the tournament director. He's been there a few years.

This may be a dumb question, but can you tip with poker comps (pretty sure the answer is no)?

You cannot. I think Shake Shack *might* be an exception, but I think that's probably just an oversight (and it may have been fixed by now) since they use a different platform.

Adam can we change the rule where you're not allowed to talk to or show your heads up opponent your cards? I think this currently creates a too-serious environment and it won't be abused as much as it is feared it would be (see: most other poker rooms who have little issue with it).

And while we're at it maybe let's start calling floors "floors" again while we're at it? The air of superiority of saying "supervisor" is absurd and militaristic.

They have a free concert every Thursday from 530 to 830. Traffic gets bad because of people being new to the casino along with there being alot of people coming in at that time.

Thanks! This is super useful information. I tried to go last Thursday evening and finding parking was a PITA. This explains that also. I'll avoid Thursdays from now on.

So I know they spent 3 months renovating the bathrooms, was that not long enough for then to fix the sinks? Of 3 only 1 works half decently and the others either the soap doesn't work or the water doesn't. Also currently at 10 am on a Friday, no water is coming out of any sinks at all... and this doesn't seem like a problem as people are just not washing their hands. Might be a health code violation or something...
