You should only go to MGMNH when they reopen if you do not mind being involved in a high-stakes experiment.

Why? Do you usually lick the cards or stick the chips in your mouth? Actively discouraged before this pandemic.

He probably does not do this. But some people handle the chips and the cards, and then touch their faces, or handle food before washing their hands.

No but I have/do sit at tables with a ton of idiots who even during a "normal" day would cough a lot without making any attempt at covering their mouth. And then I have to share their cards or their chips as they get moved around the table.

So, yeah, I'm trying not to be flippant about it.

It would be nice if MGMNH would require masks initially but I honestly dont see that happening.

I would be shocked if masks were not required. My understanding is that the risk of exposure is closely related to the total amount of time in an enclosed space "near" other people (where coughing and sneezing spread it the most, but breathing also spreads it to some degree). BUT, masks apparently reduce the risk of spread tremendously, so if everyone is wearing a mask, I can see that as a decently safe scenario once the number of cases/hospitalizations gets low enough. In my view, restaurants with tables close to each other (and where patrons typically stay 1-2 hours) are screwed in the short/medium term because you can't wear a mask and eat.

LOL! Not exactly an epidemiologist, are you? Funny how I can conclude from your insightful rejoinder which side of the political fence you are on.

I believe, considering social distancing, they would make the 9 handed games 4 handed.

At low stakes the games are usually unbeatable, with the 4 handed games it would be near impossible to beat.

Also, if it is 4 handed, are they planning to charge us only half rake?

I agree with WOXOF, I don't want to be the forerunner to try and play at MGM when they open, I like playing poker but would I bet my life on it, I don't think so!

I've enjoyed the use of Zoom for my home game enough that it will be a long while before I hit live poker again.

Sad, sure. But again, as golfpro said, I'm not going to bet my life on it.

And again, it has mostly nothing to do with MGMNH or what the MGM higher ups are going to do. Its mostly that there will be that set % of people who dont believe this was ever a problem and they will do everything they can to fight the wearing of masks, social distancing etc.

We've been doing Zoom + Poker Stars for weekly home game and it's been great. So agreed that there's no need to rush back to a casino!

Read the MGM Seven Point reopening plan.

Customers wont be required to wear masks though will be encouraged to. And thats that for me. Cant imagine walking around a crowded indoor property right now although certainly they will find plenty of people who dont mind it. So have at it.

No plan to reopen live poker as part of the initial reopening - pending advice from individual states and then they will determine if its safe to open.

Its nineteen pages - so here's the link to the full report if you are so inclined:

Why should they cut your rake? They are providing you the same service and they are only getting half what they normally do. Some would say they should charge you double the rake.

When there are four players at a poker table, they should cut the rake because this was their policy before they closed.

Were you not aware of this?

That is a really good idea. Online poker and apps could have a discord chat room for every table so you can have live table talk.

True but why did the cut the rakes previously?

They had two related reasons. They wanted to keep the game go8ng so they could hopefully get the table fuller again and raise the rake back. Keep the game go8ng long enough to find two more p,Ayers is easier than letting it break and have to wait for six. That is cutting the rake increased revenue in the long term.

Now four is a full table, no revenue upside from keeping the game going.

Anyone else wondering how we can cash out chips now? With MGMNH closed indefinitely, is there a procedure to follow with corporate or something?

I’ve been wondering the same thing. I wouldn’t really want to risk mailing them in or anything like that though.
