Why not be proactive and bring a portable space heater? Perhaps some kind of hat to shield you from the cold air?

The room is definitely a lot more comfortable now with the cooler temp. Great move. I personally would prefer it even colder.

You can always add layers but you can't do the reverse so let's keep the cool temp.

Thanks for the info!

BTW, I am the calling station you want in the game...looking to get lucky because I have no idea in most of them! Hoping to make it, possibly next week.

Sure, sure. Which means you're a mixed game ace who'll be stacking all the blue chips at night's end. We'll be happy to have you either way; keep this Tue mixed game going.

It seemed even colder yesterday than it has been over the past few days. My normal hoodie wasn't warm enough this time. I guess I'll have to upgrade or add an extra layer?

Johnny, was the AC temp lowered again over the last couple days? If so, seems like overkill now.

Johnny probably realizes (if he didn't already learn years ago) that no matter where the poker room's thermostat is set, some people are going to complain.

As others have noted, it's highly preferable to have the room too cold than too hot, given that:

1. Some poker players are stinky with BO (certainly more than the populace in general), which a warm room exacerbates

2. When it feels too warm for you, you can only take off so many clothes whereas when it feels too cold for you, you can always put on more clothes.

Hell, put on long johns when you leave the house; you can always go to the restroom or to your car and take them off if they aren't needed.

The new Saigon place still makes you pay tax even if you get full comps. Not sure why. This doesn't happen at any of the other places. I got a meal for $18 and put $18 on my card and still had to pay $1.06 in tax.

I guess I'll have to load $20 on my card for something that costs $18 or does the comps not cover tax?

Same thing happened to me tonight at Saigon. Not a big deal, but I agree that it would be nice to know since all of the other places in the market and Shake Shack don't do tax.

This option was in the off position. It made sense to me that it should be in the on position so that every time I wake my device, it would automatically connect to the Wi-Fi network. I put this option into the on position, and the Wi-Fi network in this poker room has worked for me ever since then.

Johnny,

A question for you. In the Sunday 350, the final two tables often strike a deal on the stone bubble in which every player contributes $20, which gets paid to the player next to bust. The idea is to stop having to play hand-for-hand at two minutes per hand. Recently, however, the floors have continued to run hand-for-hand even if this deal is in place.

Would it be possible to eliminate the super-annoying hand-for-hand play when this kind of a deal is in place? Obviously it has to be unanimous.

Many thanks,

Howard

P.s. Mrs. Treesong is giving me some grief about her name not being on my safe deposit box, just in case I die early of a heart attack or something (likely caused by hand-for-hand play in he Sunday 350). Is there any way to get my wife’s ID on my box?

On many days the wifi worked well, but it seems that as the room gets busier during the night, it starts getting sluggish with more and more disconnections. Both yesterday and last Sunday, the wifi just refused to connect 85% of the time to the point that you stopped trying. On the surface it seems as if once it's pushed to its limits by the busy Saturday crowds, it doesn't work properly.

If you do get up and walk to the back or another area of the casino, you might get your phone to connect, but once you sit back in your seat, you lose it yet again in a very short time.

So, yeah, the wifi needs to be looked at.

I also take back what I said about the USB outlets. There are still some tables in which they don't work at all (7 and 14) and also other tables in which it's a lottery whether you ll find a working one.

Since the place is new, my guess is that the reason is employee inexperience.

About a month ago, I went to Shake Shack. I knew what I wanted to order and knew exactly how much it cost - $17 and change. I had $18 added to my account. After ringing my order, the cashier says I own another $1.50. I pay her, but I am perplexed.

As I look the receipt, I tell her that this is more than I expected and ask her whey she added the tax.

She tells me she added the tax so that I wouldn't lose my comps for nothing.

I couldn't argue with that logic, but it did help fuel the rage that produces 2,000 word diatribes against the comp system.

Again, my apologies for that.

Iused to have a budget cellular plan with 500 MB of cellular data per month. But I recently switched to Mint Mobile for $15 per month which gives me 3 GB of cellular data per month. In this poker room, I turn off my Wi-Fi , And I rely on cellular data with download speeds of 100 Mb per second.

As far as the charging ports are concerned, I bring my own portable battery which always works for me. They can be purchased for around $20.

Yeah, same... I asked the manager why they charged me tax when the other places don't.. His reply was, "we have to pay taxes." My reply, "so the other places don't have to pay taxes? You guys are the only ones charging me tax."

Yes, I am puzzled by the number of WiFi complaints from players who can afford to play poker but cannot afford a limitless data plan, very reasonably priced from a number of different carriers. One typical $1/$3 pot pays for a month or more. And I am guessing that some of the complainers are playing for much higher stakes.

First of all, that logic can be reversed: "the casino is making hundreds of thousands of dollars from the poker room. Why can't they implement trivial fixes which only cost an infinitesimal percentage of their profits, but would disproportionally improve the experience of their customers?"

More to the point, it doesn't matter whether one is making money off poker or if they can afford an alternative. As it happens, I bought both an alternative wifi plan and a mobile battery. The thing is however that if I go to McDonalds and they give me a burger without a beef patty, it doesn't mean I can't complain because I am a millionaire or because I can drive to 5 Guys to get a better burger. We exchanged money for a good and the good wasn't as promised. You have the right to complain and to tell them the patty is missing, because they probably didn't know. You have to give the feedback.

The same applies here. The casino chose to offer USB chargers and free Wifi as part of their services because they calculate that this will make their customers' experience better and as a result they will play longer. It's tough for the manager of the room to know that the USB chargers or the WiFi doesn't work. You have to tell them in order to fix it.

Last but not least, I believe that whatever you do in life, you need to do it well. I 'd like to believe that the MGM people believe this as well.

It was only lowered once. It will be cooler in the room when we have less bodies in there, and will get warmer as we fill up. Even when we are packed, the temp should still be good in there.

Our vendor is coming tomorrow to do testing in the poker room. We will discover the root cause of the problem and address.
