Managed to get the game going a few times. Nobody has any idea how to play. It's great. Everybody bought in for the min. Fun was had by all.

Cards constantly keep going under the railing, table 12 or 13 has exposed wiring in one of them and certain regualrs have started hiding big chips behind them as a form of an angle.
Secondly, there is a 2/5 reg who keep messing with peoples chips. He came to my table last night and literally messed with half the tables chips and has been doing so every time i have played with him. No warnings from the floor or dealers. He could easily be palming chips and this is a really bad look for new players who dont know better.

Wow, how has this person not had the snot beaten out of him. The second i saw him touch someone else's chips id be like wtf are you doing? I play 2/5 every once in a while. I'll be paying attention.

Are you still banning people for jumping lists? I was first on the list for 5t tonight after the must move broke and someone literally sat in the 9 seat with a 6 person list. Told the floor and nothing happened and I had to wait for another hour to take "my" seat. I understand it being busy but come on. At least follow your rules. You kicked someone out for 24 hours for sitting at the only 2/5 game at 6 in the morning with 4 empty seats because he didn't check into the brush.

Hi Johnny,
Great job running the room. It’s fantastic, a big upgrade over the old one.

I have a request regarding the 5/5 5card game that I play in. I like the buyin of 500 to 2500, and the recent change of allowing the straddle to be anywhere from 10 to 20, instead of a maximum of 10, has been a good change.

But one thing I have noticed over the last year and a half of playing in the 5/5 5card game, is that there are times when players, including me, have lost a big pot (say 5K and up), but are only able to buy back in for 2500. It can be frustrating to be sitting there for hours, grow your stack and lose say a 10K pot, but then know that your chance of getting that money back is quite small if you’re limited to 2.5K.

So my request would be to give players the option of being able to match stacks, say after the first hour of play. Maryland Live, in their 5/5 5card game, allows players to buy in for the biggest stack after the first hour. And I believe Beau Rivage in their 4card PLO game allowed players to match stacks.

I think it would be a nice option for players to have in the game.

Sad to see no one even on the list for short deck. I will certainly put my name on the list for it next time I come and hope one starts. Maybe some sort of short deck event, even something as simple as a $50/hr lucky seat giveaway could get people to give it a try.

Everything in your post should have been told to the floor person. And, if there were not a valid reason to explain what happened, the issue should have been escalated.

tbh i was too tired to really give a dam. This happens alot at 5t where the 32 floor people just dont pay attention at all and either dont call people when there are open seats or repeatedly call people when there isnt a seat available.

Went to check in today and tried to hand my Mlife card to get put on the list. She told me she didn’t need that and just asked for my name. Are we not doing the mandatory check in with the Mlife card anymore?

Actual question here, nothing snarky. I’m coming down to the area and I’ll be spending a few days playing. Im unfamiliar with the poker scene there. In reading this thread, it seems as if this room has 3 major problems; long waits, line jumpers, and a smell from a kitchen.

I don’t see any of these issue for Maryland Live. In reading both threads, why do so many people choose this room over MDL? So, can I ask if anyone might share the pros and cons of each room to help me decide where to book my hotel and play?

Thanks.

The room overall is really really good. Judging by all the complaints you would think it is awful, but it is still a top tier room in the country.

I’m primarily a 1-3 and 2-5 player and the action is so much better in my experience at MGM over Maryland Live. Some people disagree, but overall I think there are much better games at MGM.

Couldn't agree more with previous poster. Games are much better at MGM vs other rooms in the area. While there may be a smoke/smell from the nearby kitchen (seems to have improved?...) The food options at mgm are also better than the other places.

Also there is really never a long wait. And yes table jumpers are a problem but not nearly as bad as depicted in this thread. I live equidistant from MDL and MGM and havent gone to the other place in 1 year

People seem to love complaining on this thread. Great poker IMO.

Thanks guys for the info. I guess it’s just the nature of the internet and discussion boards that makes it seem so bad.

One last question then - does anyone have any tips for getting a decent hotel room rate? I have an mlife card that I haven’t used in quite a while, but was a black card at borgata years ago. I have a gold card at Foxwoods if that might help me any. I would put a ton of hours in at the table - is there any sort of poker room rate? If not on site, any recommendations for something relatively affordable, clean and close?

Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

We have a small hotel, and unfortunately do not offer a poker room rate. There are several hotels in National Harbor that you could likely get a room rate for around $150 per night on the weekends. The Gaylord is probably your best bet.

I have not stayed there yet, but there is a Hampton Inn about five minutes away that is about $100 per night:

5821 Richmond Hwy
Alexandria VA

Did he say it was mandatory? I think he said that the front desk people would be asking for it and that he thought many seat-jumpers would use it because they're "comp-conscious," but I don't recall him saying that it's mandatory. I could be wrong though.

It does strain my faith to believe the dealing staff will stay vigilant about the Bravo thing, or that the floor will stay on top of moving transfers thru the Bravo before telling that player to move, but of course I hope I’m wrong about these things too.

The main thing is, I haven’t seen any of this in action yet (outside of the big promo day last Saturday), and they haven’t been asking for my Mlife card when I first walk in and ask to get on the list. If this policy is already in place, it’s not off to a promising start, though I understand there will be growing pains early on in the adoption of this approach.

Is this policy supposed to be in effect 24/7 (whether presently or in the future), or is this something you’re only planning on enforcing on your busiest days?
