The whole HQ2 thing is just a media stunt meant to get local governments to offer subsidies based on unrealistic expectations, which is even more obvious now that theyve split their HQ2 into 2 parts (which was likely the plan all along).

Which is not particularly relevant except to say tl;dr; is “dont believe the media hype, Amazon’s new HQ will not have a major impact on MGMs volume.”

Yesterday afternoon I put my name on the 2-5 list via the Bravo kiosk. (Which means my first name + last initial was shown.) When my name was called I was near the bar, and when I walked up to the podium, one of the staff members who recognized me (I'm a reg) said to another, "No, *he's* [my name]!" Apparently someone else attempted to pretend to be me and take the seat. The staff immediately called out to him and he just kinda shrugged and walked away from the tables, abandoning the attempt. I know this wasn't an honest mistake because my name is very uncommon. I didn't recognize the guy as another reg.

If that didn't trigger an immediate 24hr (at least) ban, that's not good.

Seat cards seat cards seat cards seat cards
All these posts show why we need seat cards

Or just walk the person to the table and check their card

Johnny I know it’s more work, but see the real life examples we are providing that whatever the new ops manager is doing isn’t working.

And if they haven’t done anything yet that’s kind of crazy. I know they’re new, but this alone should have them trying something immediately even if it’s only a temporary fix til their “permanaent plan” can be implemented.

A floor is there for 8 hours. And even if they tie the ban to the card the person might not swipe in next time. They’d have to verbally pass it along to the next floor who then had to remember and constantly look out for that banned player on that day.

What’s to prevent the person from coming back in 12 hours and playing?
Logistically I'm interested in this as well.

I'm just a 1/3 player, which makes meaningless my opinion on the (apparently constant) line jumping at those tables, but -honestly- it's getting boring coming to this thread hoping for room updates or interesting posts and instead seeing mostly a stream of complaints about the issue.

If the staff can't/won't solve the issue, it's likely because it doesn't affect the casino's bottom line and thus just isn't a priority.

If it pisses you off enough, vote with your feet and go play at Live or Hollywood.

In any case, constantly posting complaints about it on this thread apparently isn't changing anything, so try something different. PM Johnny or verbally complain to the floor every time you witness it. Or just stop going to MGM.

I just played at Seminole Tampa and they swiped me in at the podium for my game. When they found a seat, they registered me for the table at the podium when I checked in. When I got to the table, the dealer asked are you [my name]? If I claimed to be someone I was not, then it would be easier to deal with. If someone didn't have a card, they just logged them in with the name they said to use, and it worked the same way. This seems like an alternative to the cards.

Among all the type of posts out there, the "stop lodging legitimate complaints because nothing is going to change" posts are definitely the worst.

This happens at 1/3 also. At multiple casinos. Just not as advertised on here b/c of the amount of 1/3 players who aren't on here.

I think this response is missing the point. The complaint is not that it's a legitimate complaint, nor that it's not an important issue, it's a complaint about the sheer number of posts on the issue, many of which are redundant and add little, if any, marginal value. I realize it's an ongoing issue and deserves some attention, but it's a fair point to say that things have gone a little overboard on the message board re this issue.

So Bill, you described the type of post you like “room updates or interesring posts”, and the type you dont like as posts about seat jumpers. Yet your own post was in category two.

People post the type of content they want to post, and the thread’s conversation is dictated by the interests of the posters. This isnt a rock concert, nobody is taking requests, if you want posts about a particular topic, post about it. I personally would be more than happy to read about your room update.

For what its worth a lot of interesting stuff has been discussed on the side recently IMO, with shot clocks and shortdeck. Any chance you (or anyone else) has played with the shot clocks?

Johnny knows about the line jumping problem.

He also has a number of solutions available to him, none of which he has implemented (as far as we know from this thread).

I love MGM and I think Johnny has done an amazing job with the room. But his inaction on this issue is very plainly daring people who care about the seat jumping issue to vote with their feet. I personally will continue to play at both MGM and MDL based on where happens to be most convenient for me on whatever days I am able to play and I think the vast majority of us are in the same situation. But if you care about the seat jumping issue, you really should take your business elsewhere until it's resolved.

To be fair to those who are feeling overwhelmed with these posts specifically or get little value from them, Johnny asked that people send him PMs with details of incidents, not that they be posted publicly.

I am not daring anyone to do anything. I am exploring other options before we implement seat cards. We have 24 hour banned 4 or 5 people for this, and expect to extend that to a week for a couple of the repeat offenders. If it doesn’t work, wenuse seat cards.

On a different front, the USB charger on my seat isn't working. In general, USB chargers seem to be non-operational in an increasingly high frequency. I would say that I expect the chargers not to work 75% of the time when I sit at a table.

Please look into it.

Johnny thank you for confirming that 4-5 people have been banned for 24 hours.

Can you please address mine and dcmidnight question as to HOW the ban is actually implemented and enforced against someone who may not be interested in following the rules in the first place?

If the resources that someone else is supplying for you do not work, it would be a good idea for you to use your own resources to get the job done. Portable battery packs that are designed to charge mobile devices are usually less than $20.

You can always keep close contact with some of the regs who play all the time at the casino or even tip some of the floor $20 a month, so that next time bravo is down you can text them to tell you how many games are running.

Is this how it is, Johnny? Or are minor issues like this being overlooked because there are more important things about which to be concerned?

You already have a cellphone and that cellphone has the ability to take pictures. Use it to take pictures of the employees and write their names on the name of the photo.

Empty plastic bottles that can be used as pee bottles are virtually free; you can always bring a couple of empty ones so that you don't have to rely on the small bathroom or take the long walk to one of the bathrooms downstairs.

Also, to address this seriously, here's my take.

The casino chooses to provide free wifi, cellphone charging stations, bathroom facilities, poker comps and a slew of other things.

It chooses to do so, partly because it's part of the customer service it aims to provide, partly because some of those things in the year 2018 have become necessities for the consumers and commodities for businesses.

OTOH, it goes without saying that if the wifi or the cell phone chargers don't work in a consistent basis or they aren't offered in the first place, a customer can look into solving his or her need using his own means. It also should go without saying that if the casino is non-responsive or if a customer is unhappy with the quality of service he receives, he or she should vote with his feet and choose another establishment.

However, as long as the casino decides that these things are important to offer and before the customer votes with her feet, it's crucial for the casino to get feedback on whether those things are working as they should or as advertised.

And I can't believe that I have to write this, because it seems so obvious to me, but these threads are bound to have a complain bias. Not because we are ungrateful, but because of human nature, people tend to point out bad things and not shout hosannas to the management.

So, please, if you feel the urge to tell people that if they don't this or that or don't like the place, they should fix it in another way or stop patronizing the place, please don't. You really aren't constructive.

Not specifically, as I don’t want the jumpers to be aware of what we are doing.

I live equal distant from MGM & MDL. I have been Hitting Up the occasional MGM Tournament (because they are awesome) but mainly play Live.
I kinda had a negative attitude of Cash at MGM because of the Regulars and a few instances that I was probably taking to close to heart.

I sincerely appreciate the attention expressed last few weeks on cash games at MGM posted here.
I love the New MGM Upstairs Poker Room and will be giving my MGM Cash Attitude a Reboot.

Hahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaahaha. I appreciate the effort that went into this burn.

(Also side note i have considered DCJ’s solution, which IMO isnt a bad suggestion. my pockets are already filled to the brim when I head to the casino. I think that a pocket charger might be the straw that would force a backpack on me. Or like... cargo shorts, even grosser)

WPT Borgata Winter Open Satellites

Johnny - with regard to the satellites for the WPT Borgata Winter Open - I searched online and can’t find any info on that tournament’s dates and structure (neither on the Borgata nor WPT websites).

1) do you have the dates of the tournament?

2) will there be any hotel room specials for qualifiers?

And any additional information would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

The third item under daily tournaments at the following link gives the structure for these satellites:

https://www.mgmnationalharbor.com/en/casino/poker.html

At the bottom of the structure page, it says Fridays in October. This should now say Fridays in November.

Johnny has said in the past that he thinks that there will be discounts or comps for rooms for these winners. But I believe that he has not followed up and stated definitely.
