Had a rebuy period of around 7 hours, ended up with around 50 entrants, and 80 buys total. A recreational player won it, and the most buy-ins any pro put in was, I believe, 3.

Again, not saying you're wrong, but in my (admittedly low) tournament experience, most players - pros and recreationals alike - limit themselves to 3-5 buy-ins MAXIMUM.
I agree with pros generally staying in the 3-5 BI max range but I feel that there is a perception by some recs that unlimited re-buys lets pros buy the title, as unfair as that premise may be.

Didace- the WSOP and LAPC seem to get around any issues that may arise/ Johnny is part of the TDA so I doubt that procedural issues will affect if the tourney runs...prob more the issue will be if it is an efficient use of tourney tables. Could always run like an 8-game mix if ppl were really worried about any issues...

Joeseph- on the chance that you are not trolling...dealers choice is when the player with the choice (it moves around the table) chooses the game and that game is played for a pre-determined amount of hands (e.g. round starts in seat 3 and ends in seat 2).

This may be the case with a $1500 buy in PLO, but in a large field NL tournament, there will be many more recs. I have heard this from recs for about 3-4 years now. I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure we will get more players and entries this way. Will definitely get more individual players.

I'm guessing you probably don't want to engage much in regards to staff management of the food runners, but if turnover is high, then that's indicative of SOMETHING wrong with the rewards mix. Could be too low pay, crappy bosses, hostile work environment, poor benefits, etc.

I'm at the tables right now. It's been 91 minutes since the food button and 56 minutes since I spoke to a runner who said they would find me. (pointed and gave table number) I'd be happy to talk about this terrible service in person or PM.

If keeping accurate records of this helps, I'm happy to do it. Before the peanut gallery jumps in, I tip great.

I'm a rec fish and I say let them re-enter as many times as they like.

Well that's news to me. I was unaware that these types of tourneys ran. Even seeing how they work I find them problematic. But, as with anything, if that's what people want to play, they can pay their money and take their chances.

What table and seat? I have been in the room the last 2 hours. Come see me at Table 29 if you are still here.

So what are the reasons the food runners gave for quitting?

Made the strategic decision to eat before I came this afternoon time.

Have a 4 person list for 10/20. Asked the floor if there was any chance of it starting and he said that there was a 10/20 stud game earlier. Not sure if at to make of that remain ever hopeful.

Can I get a good milkshake anywhere in this joint?

Honestly seems like a really thankless job. MGM (probably way out of JGs purview) just isnt going to schedule 3 or 4 food runners to be standing around. So they are constantly going to be understaffed/overworked. On top of that it just seems like a lousy setup for them with the distance they have to go - as opposed to rooms that have a kitchen right nearby. Cant blame the foodrunners and honestly I feel bad for them most nights. Poker players can be real d-bags, especially guys that dont know the behind the scenes issues and whatnot, and they can really lay into these kids.

I can't share that information. Keep in mind, it's possible that many of them didn't quit....

We generally schedule 1 runner for every 6 tables. The turnover in that position is the highest we have. The distance from the Market is a problem...

As someone who plays recreationally (usually WSOP for a week each summer and maybe 3-4 tournaments+2-3 cash sessions outside of WSOP in a year), an 8-game mix or HORSE at least would be something that would definitely pull me out to the MGM. Not sure about if it would bring others, but just wanted to note my interest while the schedule was still being finalized. Thanks for all you do, Johnny.
