Oh I'm just poking AA Suited. He's the one that made the original comment (at least that I saw) about MGM being in a flood plain. And now he thinks it's a high crime area.

Johnny,
I was wondering if running it twice would be allowed in all in pots. This would be a very welcome option for players in time raked games.

This hasn't been decided, but will definitely be an option. My only caveat/concern is running it twice on side pots. If the all-in player does not consent to running it twice, we likely won't allow it.

Well IIRC he thinks its a high crime area based on the fact that it was a high crime area TWENTY years ago....

Lets see....

Right, I did recall correctly.

What are the odds the economics or demographics of an area can change in twenty years? 100%?

I believe the gaming commission forced MD LIVE to stop running it twice. YMMV though obv.

Mr. Grooms, what are your thoughts on having 9 seats or fewer per table for all cash games at MGMNH?

Maryland Live and Horseshoe Baltimore have chosen 10 max for a lot of their games and I feel like cattle whenever I play in them. It can be crowded and uncomfortable, not to mention optimal play means playing tighter as there are more people at the table. Fewer hands an hour too... not fun.

I can honestly say this would be a game changer for me and it'd get me in my car and make it worth the extra drive time down to MGM if you implement 9 max.

Thanks for your consideration.

I can understand a debate on 10v9. lol at "or fewer".

Things to improve vs. Live / Horseshoe:

Employ enough cashiers. Make sure they know how to count chips.
If you end up having a room with 2 floors, have bathrooms on both floors.
Can't have too many TVs - for sports, tourneys, promos, rules, etc. Don't put them sky high near the ceiling (Borgata). Too low is bad too (Live).

Edit: also, no brainer...USB charger for each seat. Horseshoe is good. Better than Live.

suggestion for differentiation:

have 4 seat tables and specialize in open faced Chinese poker
also doubles for mahjong.
(hm.. is mahjong approved in MD?)

massage girls wearing bikinis?

TBD, but appreciate the input... I actually considered this at Beau in MS prior to moving here...

Cashier staffing will not be a problem. The poker room will be on one floor, with bathrooms close by....

The plans call for a minimum of 2 TVs viewable by each seat, with many more in most cases, along with a few technological "WOW" elements....

The TVs will be suspended from ceiling mounts, as we want to be sure that there will be line-of-sight clearance over people walking around the room for our seated players...

We will be using the Sit-N-Charge equipment that has a USB port at each seat.

I grew up in Oxon Hill. From 1994-2006.. went to Oxon Hill high school (old one before they tore it down).
Crime was an issue, huge at times but has come down considerably. My old neighborhood has totally changed, along with the area.
Sure, you have your pockets of crime, what area doesn't ever have some sort of police activity for whatever reason, but it's no where near what it used to be.
I don't have numbers to support, but I have eyes. 90% of my friends are there, my brother works at the Tanger outlets and is an Uber driver from the harbor, and he mentioned to me how it's quieted down considerably.
Will the large numbers of people with money to spend coming to the area change that? Who knows, but trust, crime isn't a big a part of oxon hill as it used to be.

With more local jobs created, that should sustain neighborhood incomes enough to mitigate some crime in the surrounding area.

Hi Johnny,

I'm a professional currently playing in Delaware, but I'm planning on moving down (most of my family and friends live in the D.C. area) and making the National Harbor my main base once it opens and driving some PLO action. Being able to run it twice (and maybe three times for postflop all-ins?) would be a really nice thing to have to combat the high-variance nature of PLO.

Looking forward to the room!
