Rivers had a 3-handed 25/50 going a few Fridays ago. That may be it for a while

The Friday tourney is a satellite buy in for the $1000 Labor Day Classic (on Sept 5).
Buy in is $65 with Rebuy and Add on ($50 each all goes to prize pool).
Should be a good amount of people and likely they will be able to give out at least 1 seat out of 7.
The Labor day classic is a $1000 buyin (930+70) and they are going to have multiple satellites as well as $120 STT on request.
See you there,
Good luck!

Do you actually play poker or do you just sweat the blogs and walk around poker rooms?

I'd actually really enjoy playing with you...when's the next time you'll be at the Meadows? I'll 100% meet you there to play!

Hey, it would be great to play with you, but to be honest, you're much more likely to see me at the Rivers these days. I stopped by just to get a sense of the Thurs nite action, for the purpose of general awareness (wasn't really looking for 25/50, thanks for rolling with the joke ). But at this point I'm a 4:1 Rivers guy, who would prefer to be a 50:50 regular visitor to both rooms.

Right now, I'm a bit discouraged by the Meadows. The gap between these two local rooms continues to widen, and it's not simply a matter of "location, location, location." The sobering part is that we're still in the early honeymoon period, where both rooms should be max-jammed. Something's not right.

Naturally, I've got opinions, but it would be premature to state them; it's still less than 2 months, and I'm not there every day. But hopefully, upper-level casino management is watching the poker room closely, and scratching their heads. I know that some of the dealers are hoping for a shakeup; no reason to allow a bad start to be anything more serious than a bad start.

Went to meadows Friday night to play in the 730 and midnight tournaments. Problem is they cancelled the 730 to hold satellites for $1000 buyin Labor Day tournament without posting it on the website. They said they expect 150 players for the Labor Day tournament, if that happens Ill eat this laptop. Had to play cash for 4 hrs waiting around for late tourney. Poker room was basically full except for the tourney tables. Lots of 1/2 tables, 3 - 2/5, 2- 2/4 tables going. 5/10 never went off. No omaha or stud games. Midnight tournament drew 53 players paying 10. 12000 chips, 12 min. blinds. I enrolled at 1140 and there were only 18 players, picked 35 entries right before the start of the tournament. Tourney pretty much cleared out the cash games and most players left after busting. I finished 23rd, went all in short stacked.

i played it last night. as the other guy said 12k in chips plus the add on, pretty sweet because they dont add ante's, just increase the blinds. definitely got my moneys worth in the midnight madness because i think it was only $50 to play. much more fun than sitting at the 2/4 table.

Friday and Saturday nights at midnight, $50 buyin for 12000 chips, $5 add on for 1500 extra chips. From what ive seen and heard usually about 50 fifty players. 12 min. blinds, Actually a pretty fun tournament to play in b/c blinds are quick, but you get lots of chips, but it still seemed like it would be over in about 3 hrs, even with 50 players, but you get some play for your money.

1.5% of prize you won should go into the Dealers Tip Box

Name something that IS NOT more fun than sitting at a 2/4 table. Off the top of my head I can't think of anything!

I went to the Meadows for the first time on Saturday.

All in all I thought it was worth the trip from Columbus, ended up being about 2 and a half hours one way. Played 2 tournaments, $200 Deepstack at 3:00 and the Midnight madness tourney that cost $50. I was disappointed that the Deepstack tourney only had about 40 runners because that was the main reason I went. The tourney itself was fun, and I played very well. Got my money in good twice, way ahead both times and got sucked out on, once with a set of sixes against pocket jacks, and the villain hits a 2 outer, that's poker, can't blame the tourney for that.

Stayed and played 2/5 cash, good mixture of solid players and complete fish. Ended the season up a good bit.

Hung around and played the Midnight tourney. Had over 80 runners, most I think have never played a real poker tourney, ever. Was easily able to control my table in most cases. Loved that the tourney is played without antes. Ended up chopping 5 ways for $516. At the time I was the chip leader but with about 4 or 5 big blinds in my stack it was an all in or nothing pre-flop fest. So everybody got second place money. The tourney ended around 3:30 and that felt about right.

One question: the house rule is if a card is exposed when the cards are dealt, the player immediately gets a new card instead of waiting till the end and the exposed card goes into the muck instead of being the burn. I've never seen this done this way and for the life of me I can't rap my head around why this makes any sense whatsoever. Can anyone explain the rational behind this?

There isn't a logical reason. Originally they claimed it was a state rule but that's obviously not true since Rivers handles it classically.

The only reason I can come up with is it's easier for the dealer too do it immediately. However with the traveling button rule that throw's that theory out the window.

Yeah if you think the muck card rule is crazy, traveling button will have you pulling your hair out trying to understand it. If there was a 10/20 NL game going, I could understand wanting the extra blind, but its a stupid rule to get one extra dollar in the pot, and ive never seen it done in vegas or atlantic city.

The dealers don't like it either. Its Peter's rule. 99.9% of players are used to an exposed card becoming the first burn card but in this case it is instantly a dead card. In either case, the cards are random so in the players eyes it shouldn't make a difference one way or another.

[name removed] is starting to see the light about paying too many positions in tournaments. Last night they only paid 7 spots for 52 entries instead of 10 like they did before.

Its not deep stacked enough for the buyin, although I dont know if we want to get into this discussion again. I believe its 10000 chips and 20 min. blinds, but dont quote me. Still, for that kinda buyin and vig, it should either be like 25000 and 20 min. blinds, or 10000 and at least 30 min., if not 45. For $1000 buyin, I would expect to be able to play all day. This is a semipro level tourney, in a $100,000 tournament, I wouldnt expect it to be over in four hours. Good players take their time and learn their opponents, dont know if you can do that when you will be short stacked by the third hour. By level 9, we are talking at least 1000/2000 blinds with 200 ante. if your not sitting at around 60,000 by then, the blinds would eat you alive.

Pretty good chances of 5/10 NL running this weekend, I assume with it being a holiday weekend. Any chance of 10/20+ NL?

(asking for a buddy who is coming in to town for the weekend)

(Going to x-post in Rivers thread)

ok 1K tournament is 15,000 chips 5,000 dealer add on 30 min blinds and if you stop in they have the blind structure posted there is a ton of play for that amount of chip hell 20,000 in chips is what you use to get in the main event of the WSOP so i think that is pretty dam good. lvl 5 is 100-200-25 and that is 2 hours in lvl 10 is the first 100 ante with 500-1000 blinds and that is into the 5th hour of play. it's going to be a good tournament and if 150 show up there is a guy on here that will eat his laptop that is almost worth the $1000 entry fee. see you there i'll be the one winning it at the end make sure to come by and say hi

The Meadows are hoping to get 100 players for the Sunday 1:30pm $1000 buy in. The satellites are as followed: Friday(today) 7:30pm $65 buy with multiple $50 rebuys for 3 levels. Saturday $120 with 1 $70 rebuy. Sunday 10:30am $115 no rebuys. Should be a good turnout.

§ 553.16. General operating rules for all types of Poker; handling of irregularities.

(n) In the games of Hold’em and Omaha, if any of the cards that are required to be dealt face down to a player are accidentally dealt face up, the dealer shall exchange the exposed card with a card from the top of the deck and place the exposed card face down with the pile of discarded cards.

This was called the 'dead paper rule' and was an old rule used in the 70's.
Thanks for laughing at me and THEN correcting me...I appologize for me error, I thought it was a house rule (as is the traveling button).
