I really had a great time at poker test day! It was nice to see some familiar faces from Dover Downs. I was there from 9am to 4pm and every dealer we had was professional, fast and accurate.
My concerns were the same as some others, tv height level is a real challenge, especially for short people such as myself trying to see over other players. Also, very limited angles. There is plenty of space to put a few up high in the many blind spots. (Like at Charles Town). Otherwise, I'm going to have to request certain seats and tables especially during football game days.
Blue $2 chips are throwing me off a bit. Very similar to the green $25 that we are all used to seeing, but I'll get used to it.
Oh, and lets get a couple chairs and a small table for the smoking walkout areas? Just a thought...

Hope this isn't true: "A bet plus half again is a raise" (or true only for limit games). If you are playing NLHE and there is a short stack sitting with $155 and you lead out for a flop bet of $100 followed by the short stack's shove and a third player's call, you should not have the option to raise (even though your bet was raised by more than half).

Also, how much are beers? I've been in casinos where state law prohibits complimentary alcohol, but wondered why the casinos felt obliged to charge $5 to $8 per drink. Can't they charge a nominal amount, like $2? I don't drink, but am peeved that they make it unpleasant for other patrons to get buzzed (or wasted).

Agree. I tend not to drink while playing poker either, but if i ever come with the bf, this means i cant get him any free alcoholic drinks. Prices are a bit steep as others have said.

This. I didnt really see a comfortable area for people to hang out while waiting for their names to be called from the waitlist. When i first got there, i kinda just stood near the entrance stairs awkwardly waiting. Maybe there is a place somewhere else in the poker room to wait that i just missed?

I agree with you, but it should be noted that the "bet plus half" rule is common enough that it's not absurd for Mike to go with it. It comes from the era when limit was king and the bet plus half allowed a full raise on top of the bet plus half as opposed to a mere completion. As long as we know which rule is being used and it's enforced consistently, we as players can adjust.

My understanding is that the concept of MD Live is more than just a casino; it's an entertainment venue. As such, it's probably not looking to gambling alone to make a profit. Hence the drink prices. I also imagine that Mike is not in position to make any sort of deal with whoever provides the food and beverage for reduced rates in the poker room, but maybe he can confirm/deny for the community.

(Aside: I personally would love free drinks because I greatly enjoy having a cocktail/beer/etc. when I slum it at the lowest limit game possible with my buddies to goof around, but I also like to try to put myself in the shoes of management to understand whether my whims are realistic.)

The half bet rule doesn't apply to a player going allin and re- opening betting. It applies to a $100 bet and a player not all in throws out 7 green chips. That's going to be completed to a raise every time. I hope

Actually if 600 points per hour is correct then it would go up to 750 per hour after you earn gold because you get 1.25x the points at that reward level. So good news... you only have to play 336 hours and 40 minutes to get Platinum

gold = 1.25x comp thus $1.25/hr
plat = 1.5x comp = $1.50/hr

10hrs at plat = $15comp = free dinner at Noodles, more or less.
(i didnt like the food at Noodles at that price. better bang for the buck is the lunch buffet. eat b4 u go play )

There's not much there. A couple couches and TV's. On Fridays and Saturdays they have a little food station with some veggies + a hot food item from Prime Rib.
