So how bad is the buffet food - Golden Corral bad, or worse?

Is this just old habits from other areas in the casino or are the dealers being trained to ask for the 'Supervisor' instead of the 'Floor'?

The room looks great. ....I commend you on a great start and being able to handle the crowds. I love that there is a $4/$8 LO8 game every day!
I prefer Supervisor because Four and Floor sound too much alike. The supervisors, however, do need to respond.

We are aggressively working on a Deli option. It should have salads and other vegan items as well

Has there been an update in the backpack policy? I've been seeing more and more get security.
I believe we have eased up on that but they will be checked. If you are having an issue, let me know. This is a change for Maryland Live that is being dome to accomodate poker players. Please be patient as they go through this and other changes we are making

I think it was mentioned that comp dollars could be used for tourney entry fees at some point in the future.

Mike, can you confirm if this is on the road map?
I cannot confirm or deny

I'm checking on that. If you can't, it's something we'll work on

I would say its worst than Golden Corral in some ways. At least with Golden Corral you have some variety and you know what to expect with their staple items. With the ML buffet its really hit or miss. I went their when it first opened last year and they had lamb chops on the buffet! Now, they just have cornish hens at the carving station. Its really sad and you can tell that its awful because their is never a line to get in there (at least the times I've been there).

It definitely needs a overhaul/new chef.

It'd also be nice to use comp $ at Cheesecake Factory!

When would someone in the room have the need to yell "Four" ("FORE!" ) loudly? I could imagine a player being sent to table 4, 24, 24, etc, but would think the tone would be entirely different. (Just curious here, not trying to agitate.)

mike has already said in aug that he's working on Cheesecask factory and bobby's burgers.
but since they're not 'inside' the casino, it's going to take time.

surprised Prime Rib doesn't take comp $.
but I guess using comps cheapens their brand image?

Edit:
holy Christ.. their signature Prime Rib dish costs $60?!
and I thought Morton's steakhouse pricing was outrageous.

yup.. quality has nose dived HUGE since I ate there in March.
at that time they had beef brisket and salmon. and that was for lunch.

last week when I went again, they replaced that w/hamburger patties and hot dogs. and this was for dinner where it costs a few $ more.

Mike, a deli would be EXCELLENT!
replace that $7 hotdog with a corn beef/pastrami samwich.

I know this a dumb question, but.... I'm going to ML to play either 4/8 or 8/16. What is a good buy-in for these limits ? And with ML offering $2.00 Chips what domination of chips should I get ?

Thanks,

KRG3

I've been thinking about sitting in the 4-8 game as well. I was thinking maybe a rack of blues, but that's only 25 big bets. 2 racks maybe ? Still only 50 big bets, but a little more room to operate.

Thanks Mike, much appreciated. I'm not complaining, I'm of the opinion that free stuff > no stuff. I'm just wondering how and what for I can use these comp dollars. So far I have:

•Any of the food on the menu the waitresses have. (Phillips, Noodles, Grab-n-go)
•Valet Parking (At red or gold, becomes free w/platinum)
•Possible future tourney entries (one time!)
•Slot play (according to a poster)

With more food options hopefully coming. Is there anything I'm missing or wrong about?

While I'm at it, I might as well suggest concert tickets, gift-shop(Assuming there is one), and masseuses.

Thanks again Mike, Loving the room.

One rack of blue chips ($200) is correct for 4/8. There are a max of 3 raises, so the most you can bet if every street gets capped is $16 preflop and flop, $32 on the turn and river. So the most you can bet in one hand is $96 (ignoring the rare case of that if you are heads up when starting a street there is no limit to the number of raises allowed). I buy in for $200. If I get below $100, then I start thinking of adding on another $100, although in practice I usually wait to see if I go a bit lower than that before adding on.

When I play 3/6, $100 is more than sufficient. I've never felt short with $200 at 4/8. At Harrah's in NoLa, pretty much everyone bought into 4/8 with $100. lol

One of the things a lot of Harrah's properties that don't have attached hotels do is to offer rooms at a nearby hotel for $xx in comp dollars. I know I would use this, as I live in Richmond. More money will flow back to the casino this way as well.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but a couple of months ago, ML sent out an email survey regarding pizza that seemed to be geared toward figuring out what type of pizza place they want to open. So I'm guessing that's a new dining option that will be coming in the near future.

While I agree a rack of blues is appropriate, I don't think this is quite accurate. when I played 4/8 O8, 4 raises were allowed not 3.
I would assume that's true in all the limit games.

In addition, the 4/8 O8 game is 1/2 kill so sometimes it plays at 6/12.
Not sure if 4/8LHE is 1/2 kill or not

Rack of blues is good. 2 racks is better just to intimidate some fools.

I usually find it more humorous than intimidating when someone sits with 50+ BB.

Yeah I'm at Greenview and Grace. Super convenient. As stated, I'm down to host a game but I just have a 2 bdrm that I can put my table in and play. Let's pick a day at the end of September / early October and schedule a game. I'm best on weekends but could sacrifice a tired day at work for a fun game.

Let's brainstorm a date. Add me on Facebook so I know you're not a bunch of scumbags /RyanBrisse

Let's get this going, dudes

Tip for dining options, if you are cheap, go to Noodles and just get the fried rice with no meat. Not on the menu but only $4 for a large and quite filling.

i was told by the live rewards desk yesterday that everyone, regardless of rewards level, will earn 600pts/$1 per hour playing poker. He said it was new and they are working on it. So it would seem as if the 1.25x and 1.5x multipliers are not in effect. I agree this is wrong and if its merely a technical thing, it should be corrected and even backdated for hours earned previously. The point balance on your card is cumulative, but the point balance DISPLAYED is in direct reference to comp dollars. So as you use comp dollars the points drop 600 pts per dollar used. The system still continues to calculate total earned. So you may have 200,000 points and the system only shows you 7000. That means you would have 7000/600=$11.66. Thats all. So don't worry about losing points that you earn towards new levels, by spending comp dollars. Someone did point out earlier in this thread that if you sign up for the online casino and put in your info and you will see your current "comp points" when you click account and then account balance. Again this represents points for comps, not your total points. I hope that makes sense, and I hope that mike can get the point system for gold and platinum multipliers fixed.

Anybody know a decent hotel in a safe area close by Maryland live Casino that has weekly/monthly rates ... like $320 weekly/$1200 monthly?

Please send private message.

I am cheap (full time college + part time work) so I do appreciate the tips. I hope they get that deli thing going soon. I haven't hit up Noodles yet, but their food does look tasty. Will try out the fried rice option soon, thanks.

This poker room has been open for exactly 2 weeks. If you sort the threads in this forum by number of views, this thread ends up on page 1. If you sort by number of posts, this thread ends up at the very top entry of page 2. Think there is any interest in poker in Maryland?
