Then yes, as a prize, it should be on a 1099-MISC. I agree.

I received only a 1099 misc form for a table share of the BBJ I got last year. About $830. I received no other forms from live. I’ve hit a number of the high hands but none over $600.

I checked and mine from Live is also a 1099-nec. Technically the 1099-nec is better because I can write expenses off. In the end it probably doesn't matter other than the fact it's not the correct form

I received the 1099 when I was paid out the $1000 but also just received the nec form....

Whoever processed these must be new to accounting

Yesterday, Live mailed out the corrected form (1099-MISC) with an attached letter explaining the mistake with the 1099-NEC. The files sent to the IRS were correct, it was just printed on the wrong form. Check your mail in a day or so and you everyone should be good to go.

Thanks,

Has the asian guy who's tagline is 'My My My' been banned again from the poker room.

Sports social happy hr:
Date: Monday - Thursday
Time: 5:00PM - 7:00PM

Menu:

It's 2 beef tacos per order.
Normally it's like 3 for $14.
They are delicious.

Nachos is personal size but decent size (big plate).
The cherry crush is pretty good.

Not best bang for comp $ but if hungry and you want to watch sports on big screen...

Instead of commercials in the NBA playoffs, they show a music video, like old school Mtv

Sports Social is a great place for food compared to the other options at Live, which are all expensive and not great imo. Happy Hour pricing is very good as well

The slot ticket redemption machines now spits out five $20 bills as your first hundred.
So $220 ticket is a $100 bill and six 20's.
$180 is just Nine 20's... ugg.

I guess waaaay too many people lately have been breaking the 100s down into 20's after they get their $, thus holding up the line?

Or people are just more likely to blow a 20 dollar bill then they are a hundred dollar bill maybe.

David's restaurant now has discounts based on your tier, which isn't a good sign for survival unless LukFu and The Social is also doing it.

Also at David's:

8% fee now?
Used to be 3% and that was to cover COVID expenses.

Another example of shenanigans that people are incentivized to attempt due to high hand time period counting when hand ends instead of first card of the deck:

Buddy stalls for 3 minutes because the quads he has is smaller than what was currently on the board. Everyone at the table is aware of what was going on. Once the current period is finished, the stall is finished. His quads hold up until the end of that next period. He then draws for the prize amount and gets $5k.

Dealers incentivized to not notice because they work for tips. Players stall to try and win and others at the table are discouraged from speaking up for fear of being the bad guy.

Awful all the way around.

Just convince room to do it by start of hand not completion. Dealer hits shuffler button and hand is started in that period regardless of how long someone tanks.

Ofc won’t happen because takes more work by floors.

I get your point, but with just a little bit of training, it works quite well. I used to see this years ago at Daytona Beach Kennel Club. The person running the board had a timer that beeped a few seconds before the end of each time period. They already have their mic at hand for calling names. They would announce "Dealers, finish the hand you are on, it is part of the current time period. Next hand is part of the next time period." And the dealers were all trained to implement it that way. Once your board person and the dealers are trained on it, it is totally smooth, and avoids this sort of BS.

If a dealer could call a clock, maybe you would have a point here. So if the other players don't want to be the "bad guy" what is the dealer supposed to do exactly?

Any player at the table could have called a clock and the floor person could have made a decision.

Also, if you look at the rules of the promotion:

Quote:
14. On announcement of the completion of the period or the clock sounding the period is over, any new high hands will apply to the next time period.

19. Anyone found to be in violation of the integrity of these promotions, shall be disqualified. This includes slow rolling or slow playing to get to the next time period.
So when the floor gets there he has the option of delaying the announcement until the hand completes or simply voiding his hand entirely.

The room has rules on how to address this. If nobody at the table wants the floor to enforce the rules, that's on them.

I believe the dealer is supposed to inform the supervisor who is confirming the high hand board that the player violated rule 19 "Anyone found to be in violation of the integrity of these promotions, shall be disqualified. This includes slow rolling or slow playing to get to the next time period.", but that never happens. It is an awful position to put the dealer in. Their income is derived from tips.

Making a determination that someone slow played to get to the next period is subjective. How much time needs to pass before anyone can be 100% sure the player is waiting for next time period instead of legitimately deciding their most +EV action?

I have called clock on people in this exact situation, but I am by far in the minority. I was not at the table for this one. At the tables the next day the player who won the $5K was very happy to share the entire story including "3 minute tank that everyone knew what has happening" with anyone that would listen.

Rules that are unenforceable and\or unworkable are meaningless.

The floor is there to make those calls, the dealer is there to run the game.

Call the floor. Problem solved.

But you don't want to solve the problem, you want to bitch.

The floor gets called over when the high hand is complete and tabled, confirms and radios to the brush stand to put it up on the board. It is impossible for the floor to have any idea what happened prior to him\her being called over. Dealer does not call the floor over during the stall and does not inform floor of the tank when floor arrives to confirm the board.

I have spoken to management about this issue several times. When I am at a table where this happens I call the clock. So I do want to solve the problem and do my part to try, but you are right I also do bitch when it continues to happen.
