Seen a whole run of brand new dealers this afternoon. Most on their 3rd day.

They're doing okay, just very slow. Big action trips them up. One wasn't aware what high hands even were.

They'll be fine in a week or so once they get some more time.
Whole run of brand new dealers? I heard there was a shortage of dealers at the MGMNH, where are they finding these new dealers?

md live has their own training program taught by a supervisor.
any md live table games dealer can sign up. (maybe even open to anyone working at md live?)

what i want to know is how did these new dealers get a day shift?
i thought new dealers are usually assigned the overnight shift?

2nd price increase in 2 months.

the 18oz ribeye not only went up to $64 but also went down in size.
it's now 16oz!

calamari is now $20.
so $16 -> $17 -> $20 in 2 months

crab cake (dinner portion) is $60.
you get 2 crab cakes.

Yep, sure was. Which was shocking too because they were rotating in and out of the big $500 tourney going on too.

Two of the three that we had both mentioned that they were "in their first week" or "on day three". They were competent enough to run the game, but our hand/hour definitely tanked, and many times the players had to help sort out the action. They did have well-tenured dealers following each one. But yes, this was between 2pm-6pm on a Saturday.... They must really be short to have them on then vs a weekday/overnight.

Could've been some coming over from table games. I'd believe that from what I saw.

The new norm.. until we really settle into it, we'll keep seeing it move.

It's not just this one instance, everything everywhere is quietly going up. Especially if it comes internationally as shipping costs are f'n nuts this year, that's even if you can get it on a ship. Longer convo blah blah wage increases, costs up, etc.. We dont have to go there here.. but it'll be interesting to see where we're at this time next year, as people just continue to pay it anyway.

Belligerent Tournament Players
-----------------------------------

These days, post covid, they seem to be getting more aggressive against other players, the floor and the dealers.

I constantly keep seeing them cussing under their breath (complaining about anything and everything) and berating the play of other players.

These people need to be dealt with as they discourage newbie players to come and play the tournaments. They make the atmosphere caustic and not fun/enjoyable for everyone.

Please bring it to the attention of the floor staff if you guys come across these type of players.

casinos really do not have any business having tournaments period, until they have enough dealers for people to instantly get seated without waiting in cash games.

Just going to throw out the idea that maybe under the circumstances, showing up on time or even early would be the better move. This way you don't have to wait.

Today's 30k guarantee was blown out of the water. I think they nearly got up to 70k?
Was it busy? Yes.
Were there people complaining that the whole tournament system should be shut down because they wanted to late reg? No...

Is there a basic snack bar that takes comps that’s quick in and out? I’m a cheap bastard that needs just a hotdog or Caesar salad mid session.

Yes, 24-7, cheap is relative, $6 for slice of pizza. Caesar salads and sandwiches in the case.

If you're not using comps, you're better off walking to the mall (if it's open) food court for quick eats. Costco food court is you're a member is even better.

Might still be early but do y’all think the WPT will go on as planned? Or altered/cancelled?

Are we gonna get sports betting up and running in time for football? I would have thought they'd be up and running by now.

Whoever thought adding a half kill to the 10-20 big O game is very short sighted. Awful.

The date I heard for sports betting was Sept 1, but I heard that a couple of months ago and haven’t been able to find any updates.

Sept 1 seems like a stretch, they just passed the regulations last week and there's usually a 30 day comment period that follows.

Hogan was on WTOP today saying that the start of NFL season isn't happening - he is pressing for the NFL playoffs but he's not even sure that is possible at this point given the time it takes not just to write the regulations but also to conduct all the background checks on licensees.

edit - here's the print piece

PSA-

We regret to inform you that this year’s WPT tournament scheduled for September 15th- 28th has been postponed. We hope this postponement puts us in the best position to safely host the WPT at some later date. Please check back at Maryland.livecasinohotel.com for any future updates.

Thanks

What happens to the people that already satellited in? Will they get paid out $3500 or do they have to hold onto the ticket indefinitely?

We're paying everyone out now. Estimating when we will have the next WPT doesn't really make sense at this point. Hopefully sometime in the Spring, but who knows.

Thanks

Mike
