Thought tier multiplier promo this month was to help people get/maintain tier for 2019.

Apparently it's to get a head start for 2020.

All points reset on 1/1. Card date is meaningless.

hm.. maybe the multiplied tier points dont add to your tier total but instead are used for promo stuff?
'You will receive a mystery point multiplier of 2X, 3X, 5X or 20X! Redeem your points for Free Slot Play, Match Play* or Self-Comps.'

Tricky marketing

I get $15 twice a week but I also play 40 hours a week. How many hours are you getting in?

I've given up on understanding the point/rewards system, beyond the simple hourly comp earnings, since they killed the streak promo. I think they've entered the "we don't GAF - they're going to play here anyway" mode of a local casino and are just comp'ing the heavy-hitter regs to keep it that way.

Maybe business-wise that makes sense? Perhaps ensuring high-volume regs go to MDL as opposed to competitors is worth the loss of business volume for the less "poker-devoted" rec's like me. My hours went from 100+ to ~50 year over year due to the termination of the streak. (and they didn't go to another casino... they went to other activities.)

I have no choice but to come here on the weekends. The mgm gets full with 30+ on the wait list every weekend. That’s the only time I can play so I can’t vote with my feet

Well, you could choose Horseshoe (they're literally 10 minutes of highway time apart) - but I'd agree that that is an inferior choice to MDL on most days. Mike runs a top-notch operation in all poker-related aspects.

I, too, still patronize the joint if/when enough of my friends don't feel like just playing a home game. It's just an expensive endeavor to play the game no matter where you go.

(Make no mistake - over time you pay a minimum of $10/hour, NOT counting jackpot, that you play poker in that, or any, casino around here. Cheaper than skiing or golf, but more expensive than a movie or a walk in the park.)

Anyone play in the 6-12 Stud 8/O8? If so, how is it?

Those are two of my favorites games...I usually play at MGM but if the action is good I might drive the extra hour.

It’s fun if you like the games and seems to be running more consistently. Usually good action and dealers are pretty good. Regulars dispositions similar to what you see in high low games. Would be way better with a kill but people won’t add it. Five dollar time charge.

It played with a kill a couple Fridays ago. Game predictably broke much sooner than usual that night

Yeah I get it just saying that personally high low is more fun with a kill to me. Part of the game but the daily players get to make that call I only get there now and then as it’s further than MGM for me. But I like the room a ton (great service, quieter, good space between tables, good dealers, good food choices in casino, high low games) — am going to try to get there more to support it when I can.

Received annual new platinum players card and benefit summary flyer in the mail today.

Not happy that they are switching from Norwegian to Carnival.

Past years I've always received 2 cruise packages per year with platinum. This says "a complementary cruise package".

anyone know if this means only one package per year?

At least you won’t have to pay to book your free cruise like you do on Norwegian

I'd put money on there being fees with carnival as well.

The Platinum NCL cruise certificates could be used as $450 value towards any cruise they offer. Wife and I cruise NCL a ton so was valuable to me.

Nope. You can book a free carnival cruise for free. Yes you have to pay port fees and taxes but those don’t go to carnival. If you decide not to show up for the carnival cruise you have paid nothing to them. With norwegian you pay Norwegian a booking fee just to book the cruise. Don’t show up and you will still have paid them their booking fee.

Wife is a multi mini degenerate whale. We get more offers than we can use. We even get some limited truly free ones where even taxes and port fees are covered. But even those truly free offers from Norwegian still have a booking fee that we had to pay.

Iirc the fee was about $150, so your free cruise was really only about 70% discounted.

I got one of those too. I took it to mean one a year. They probably want to cut costs and see how players respond. The cruise for this year is pretty much worthless anyway thanks to the coronavirus. I intend on checking with my host to see if they will convert it to some other form of comps or freeplay. The $50 free bets are nice.

Can you ask your host WHY they dropped ncl?
And lowered it to carnival instead of an equivalent to ncl like Royal Caribbean?

To the bargain hunters:

For March, Morty's has corned beef sandwich, fries and Guinness for $19.99.
But I paid with comps and was only charged $19.

I'm excited about the WPT Deepstacks this week.
How has it been in the poker room lately? Are there still plenty of hand sanitizer stations? Are people walking around with masks?

I was there on Sunday. I saw one or two people at the slot machines with masks on. Otherwise, things looked normal. I did spot Purell available to all on the front desk, but I didn't see it being heavily used.

The two changes I saw were signs by every door suggesting that if you do not feel well then perhaps you should go home and visit another time, and also every mirror in the bathroom had a message about the importance of washing your hands and not spreading germs.

The governor has declared a state of emergency. He has also urged everyone over 60 to avoid crowds. Colleges are closing, sporting events delayed or being held without spectators, conferences are being cancelled, and airlines travel and movie attendance are way down. I have to think very soon this will have a big affect on the casinos.

I did ask a dealer if they get paid sick leave. He said they do not - they make money (almost) exclusively from tips, so they have to work to get paid. Keep this in mind the next time you win a pot (whether it is soon, or after you take some time off from poker if you choose to be cautious).

Bump for emphasis.

For those of you who have done any of the cruises for cheap, can you outline how much "free" actually cost you?

I looked at the options and the fine print, and it's fee after fee after surcharge, after taxes. It's ridiculous and I could not find anything remotely closely to cheap.
