To Mike, or anyone in the know, are there any satellites for the summer series events this weekend?

There have been Satellites almost every day this month. Today at 3:15 and 8:15. Tomorrow at 3:15

Thanks

Mike

Ok great thanks Mike. The satellites aren't on pokeratlas. Thanks for the heads up!

I'm somewhat indifferent to the 9-handed/10-handed issue, but do like the fact that it makes more room at the table.

One "con" that people could possibly (old or otherwise) not like is that it essentially raises rake, right? If 10 equally-skilled players are on a table dropping $100/hour in rake, then when there are only 9 they all got the price of poker increased by ~10%, no?

Looked at another way: 100 people playing in a poker room, 10-handed the room makes $1000/hour. 9-handed, it's $1100/hour (and one lucky schmuck isn't playing at all.)

(My $100/hour is for illustration only... 4/8 likely higher, 1/3 who knows.)

Right but you pay more rake because you play more hands. I doubt rake paid per hand increases at anywhere near the same rate. This seems like a true win/win for everyone who doesn’t enjoy folding the bottom 90% of hands.

Oh that's a good point, I hadn't thought about that, thanks!

I'd say this is especially true if by "more hands" you mean correctly folding less (i.e. more "fun" for the buck.)

It comes down to how much dealer time is overhead (shuffle, pot management, showdown, bank management, down pushes, etc.) vs. player action. We have 11% less time spend on action, but 0% less on overhead.

So yeah - we get what we pay for if the dealers stay efficient enough to give us 11% more hands.

My take: With MDLs mostly excellent dealers keeping overhead to a minimum,
we're getting more poker for our time (if not for our money.) And, by folding less, we're getting more action.

OK, I'm in - yay 9 handed!

**** those smart-asses. I like to 4-bet them light and then give them the sympathetic nod after they sigh-fold their QQ face up.

Played the tournaments over the weekend after taking months off playing poker.
Lost some money but I still think Md Live runs Poker Tournaments better than any other casino Ive been too.

Everything running great as usual at MD Live.

Just leaving after a good day of poker. Great action and good dealers and waitresses today. No complaints.

Although it is humorous to see almost a CVS of merchandise in the bathroom. Heard the attendant yelling "No free" to some potential customers.

What happened to the birthday perks? I have a gold card and used to get a shirt and $25 food voucher to spend during my birthday month. Is this another perk that has been discontinued?

I have a platinum card and my birthday is in June. I received $150 voucher good at the prime restaurant and free slot play - I can't remember how much somewhere around 20 or 30 bucks.

I'm gold, got a $25 food voucher in April and some sort of slot play.

Perks are so dry now... $5 slot play at best occasionally (poker only, which explains it.) I've spent a lot more time doing other things... or playing home games.

Hi, I am travelling to Washington DC in a couple of weeks for work. Is Maryland the closest poker room? Is it close enough to Uber there from DC?

From DC, MGM National Harbor will be much closer. They have a poker room. Personally, though, I prefer the poker room at Maryland LIVE.

Thanks so much for the reply. Closer will have to do, esp if they run PLO.

Both will have plo but MGM will have more games going. And both places spread 5-card plo, not 4-card

Does MD Live run lower stakes mixed games or limit games at all other than 4/8 LHE? If so, is it on the weekends or a specific day during the week? Looking for limits from 4/8 to 8/16.

They usually have a 6-12 O8/Stud8 game that gets going around 4 or so on Saturday, and I have seen it some other nights.

There was a slightly higher limit game (6-12 or 8-16) that some players tried to start but i do not believe it is regularly running.

The bolded ran tonight and, according to Bravo, is still going.

Thanks for the OE info guys. I'll look out for the game on weekends and keep an eye out for it during the week on Bravo. Any idea what the players are like?

I played on a Friday night. The O8 was really loose and pretty passive preflop and flop, a little more aggressive on the turn/river.

The Stud8 seemed really loose on 3rd and 4th streets, but people seemed to tighten up when the bets increased. However, I am no expert on Stud8, so take my observations with a big grain of salt.

Also, should note, the game is $5 per half time rake, not pot rake.

Just a reminder to count your chips before you get to the cashier - yesterday the count was $100 short when I cashed out and the cashier was emphatic that she was correct until the 3rd count. This was after Saturday when it also took 3 counts to get it right and then the supervisor that verified came up $500 over when he counted the first time. Wonder where the extra cash goes.
