God damn. 2pm on a Wednesday afternoon - 46 tables going, 176 on the 1/2 list, 80 on the 2/5 list.

I guess the promo is working.

I was hoping to get there around 3:30 or 4 on Saturday. Wonder if that'll be a miserable idea.

If it's full spread and 200 names on the list it'll be 2 hours at least. Probably even worse because the promo will encourage people to stay longer too.

I think my new plan will be skip Saturday afternoon and get there really early on Sunday. Now debating if I take off Friday and get there before noon ......

Guys

Let's not get carried away here. The other room will have another 40 tables.
That's like doubling capacity overnight.

The big variable to me is traffic to get to The other room.
If the casino opening chokes traffic, then that would obv benefit MDL

how long do u get when u call ahead before they take your name off the list? i would think that they would give us more time during this promotion.

ALL OF VIRGINIA THOUGH.

Seriously, there must be a **** ton of pent up demand 2 hours from MDL but 45-60 minutes from MGM

If you're saying that 39 tables opening up down the road will ease demand on the MDL room this weekend I'd like to lay a redbird on MDL having a list from 2-2 Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

I'd be amazed if it's < 100 on the 1/2 list prime times all weekend.

Even though bravo gives you the option to sign up for 1/2 nl, you get an error when you actually try it.
Has anyone successfully signed up for 1/2 nl via bravo?

Noob question. What's the comp rate for poker at MD Live and what can you use it for, besides food at the table? Is there a way to check how much you have?

Thanks

Nine 4-8 tables seems excessive during this promotion...

Starter card: Red/classic is $1 / hr. Higher tier, little bit more in comps.

Can be used for food/bvg at table and/or restaurants inside the casino at 1:1 and also Bobby's Burger & Cheesecake Factory at 2:1. There are kiosks throughout the casino to check your balances, or just stop by the rewards booth and they'll help you out.

Good luck.

it used to work for 1/2, but did not today, so i imagine they turned it off for 1/2 and it just doesn't say so if it's working for the games you can call in for

Excessively low, maybe. Chances of hitting likely are better given how cheap flops are.

I agree with you from a player (most likely 60+) perspective, but from a casino perspective, these tables deal about half the hands per hour dealt at 1-2 and 2-5 and therefore take in half the rake. Not to mention the vast majority of BBJ money that subsidizes this promotion is collected by the NL games. Hopefully they open less limit tables the next few weeks with 300+ on the NL lists.

This can't possibly be true. Half?

Mike,

If the $330 tournament on Saturday is going to be cancelled due to demand for cash games, can you post that in this thread as soon as you know?

Thanks,
Loony

That's interesting speculation, but my speculation is that the opposite is true.

Completely agree about this weekend - MGM will be 100% full all weekend. Demand will be be high enough that I'd expect MDL will be more crowded than usual this weekend.

In the long run, MGM will draw quite a large number of players who would not otherwise have been playing at MDL, HB or CT. Live is basically inaccessible from NoVa on a weeknight for someone who wants to play after work. There will be tons of players who will hit MGM instead of watching a Thursday night NFL game at a bar or going out to eat on a Tuesday. MGM will also draw tourist and convention business that wouldn't be going to the other casinos.

The question for Live is how that influx of rec players and tourists at MGM will change the habits of local regs who can play at either venue. A bunch of nitty 1/3 players from VA isn't going to necessarily change the poker landscape dramatically. A bunch of wealthy chip-spewing tourists might. My best guess is that MGM probably establishes itself as the preferred venue for high limit games, but that the 1/2 & 2/5 NL and 2/2 5/5 PLO games at Live keep going strong. Live is a really well run room and will continue to do well.
