I think Mike does a fine job, but MDL has the much better location for most of the poker playing population of the DMV, it will be interesting when another location as desirable (MGM nat harbor) opens.

CT was the only game in town and even if you were from Baltimore city, you would head there.

So how did MDL access an "untapped market" if people were driving from Baltimore City to play at CT?

I think there is definitely a market of people that never drove to Charles Town but do play now that a room is within a much closer drive. People like us will drive wherever we have to in order to play. I think there are many people that play a decent amount now that it's close but rarely if ever drove to WV. It will be interesting to see if there are many of these folks living in Nova that will play at MGM but rarely if ever drove to Live to play.

So this is what we've got:

Superbowl Sunday will be the random table winners every time there's a score
$500 for Kickoff TD, Punt Return TD, Safety, or any Defensive TD
$250 for Offensive TD
$100 for FG

Everyone at the table wins that amount. We'll also have a player's buffet like last year.

$1,000 High Hands on all the other Sundays from 11am to 11pm

$500 Graveyard High Hands

$2016 Highest Hands Tuesday-Thursday 11am to 1am This will be up to 4 winners each hour as it turns out $2016 is divisble by 2,3 or 4. If there's only one qualifier, they would win the entire $2016 for that hour.

Mondays will be a continuation of Hoodies and Headphones (still have a few)

Super Saturday Tournaments:

Feb 6 $300 Black Chip Bounty $25K GTD
Feb 13 The Live! 500
Feb 20 The Bankroll Builder
Feb 27 Double Green Chip Bounty

We'll also have satellites available for Poker Night in America who will be here in March

Sundays we'll have:

Feb 7 $270 Survivor
Feb 14 $220 Seniors
Feb 21 $1,000 Live! Stacks
Feb 28 $270 Survivor

Presidents Day Black Chip Bounty Feb 15

Thanks

Mike

Thanks for participating in this thread Mike.

For those not around last year, more info on the buffet please? Are players getting a voucher to the buffet or is food being brought in?

Also, how long is each high hand period on the non-SB Sundays? 20 min? 30? 60?

Finally, what is the min qualifying high hand on the $2016 Tues-Thurs promo?

Thanks.

That is a problem. It has nothing to do with Mike. No sense blaming poker for problems with the cage, food and beverage, security, etc. Those are different departments.

why doesn't mike at least control the food and beverage in the poker room, like horseshoe does?

and I'm pretty sure if mike calls security, some big football player types show up near instantly like Horseshoe?

mike,

if 3 winners: 2016/3 = $672

can you make the prize $599 + a $73 splash pot for each winning table?
still $2016 and less paperwork for both the winners and your staff.
win/win

Because they're different departments. They work together but, as far as I understand, Mike is not the boss of any of those people. He can ask for things but ultimately they aren't accountable to him.

The alternative perspective on this proposed change is that the winners get less $ and the rest of the money goes to a promotion that changes the way the game plays, which is not preferred.

Lose/lose.

+1

A $599 payout would be way better for players and staff. ^If you don't want splash pots, which I agree aren't ideal, then give the $219 to a random seat drawing. That way everyone in jackpot taxed games has a shot each hour whether they hit a qualifying hand or not. Or give the $73 right to the dealers. I don't care, either way it would be better than three $672 payouts.

That being said, I really really like this change to the high hand promo. It will be interesting to see what hands hold up for the 3rd and 4th spots.

Re: Maryland Live! (Arundel Mills Mall; Hanover, MD) - FAQ in OP, added 2014.02.02

It would be nice to get around the double taxation of dealer tips on these promotional winnings. If you win $1,000 and give the dealer a $100 tip, you pay taxes on that $100 when MD Live gives you a 1099. The dealer also pays taxes on that $100 when his tip box is counted by MD Live.

Mike, is there a way to designate a dealer tip when the paperwork comes for a promo winning so that amount is subtracted from the 1099 total? This tip would go straight to the dealer's tip box and not through the player then dealer. In this example you would get a 1099 for $900 and only $900 in chips.

I really hate giving the IRS $25 and MD $8 in taxes on the dealer's $100 tip and then the dealer has to pay $20+ in taxes on that same $100. Over half of this money is going to taxes right now.

They can't separate tip for the same reason your boss can't take out whatever you may tip a waitress for dinner tonight from your paycheck. I know it sucks, but you received $1000. What you do with it is up to you.

Pretty sure the poker room at the HS doesn't control the food.

Played all day yesterday and never had once single problem with the cashier that I could see, even though it was short staffed. I cashed out around 2am and there was absolutely no line, which is unusual. Even with 2 cashiers, there is still usually a long line to cash out between midnight and 3am or so. Chip runners were a problem yesterday however, but I can live with that knowing the circumstances of what was going on with the weather.

BTW - We get it, you don't like MD Live. Go somewhere else then or go to a different casino's chat room. You just keep making yourself sound like a whiny 14 year old here. No idea why you are even commenting here, when you hate it so much......

Poker dealers pay a predetermined amount in taxes regardless of what they get tipped. Deal with the taxman to make it simpler for everyone, so tip away

I'm not sure if poker dealer tip compliance agreements are universal.

I definitely don't know whether or not MDL has one in place, do you?
