it was twice a year last year for platinums. but forgot when.
current tier expires in March so the 1st one is april? 2nd one is aug? $500 each.

this year you get the bonus 3 times if you were platinum for 3 years.
but they haven't mentioned what the award for the 3rd one is yet, or when.
500 + 500 + ?

Unfortunately, I dropped to Gold because I split my poker play between Live and Shoe.
combined, I would have the hrs to make platinum at Live.

whats the prize for gold? $100?

It's been done in April previous years and the platinum streak bonus is now probably the best thing about that place.

thanks.

It's really pretty simple: do not be a douche. Do not tolerate douchebaggery from others.

Poker needs more money coming through instead of just degenerates and although I enjoy when degens come through and dump their paycheck I would much rather have more middle class folk show up and dump even more money. Idiot degens don't typically dump much money.

Long story short: there are lots of regulars at MDL, and a lot of them have become extremely foul spoken (maybe part of their strategy to put others on tilt, and we need more non-regs coming to the room. If they are harassed they are not going to come back.
This is what I was really trying to get at. A room cant survive if all it is going to do is cater to its loyal group of degen regs pushing each other's stacks around and grinding out hours to make their reward levels.

You need more players like me to want to go to MDL. Not me, players like me. Once a month players with a lot of disposable poker income who really are just looking to have a good time and enjoy a night out. You want them to want to keep coming back to your room.

But when you let the inmates run the asylum, when you let drunk regs roam from table to table calling other players a-holes and your dealers/floor laugh it off because "Its just what he does" - thats not good for you long term. I can easily overlook the parking, the traffic, the $9 beers - that stuff is easy to overlook when you create a fun environment to play in.

As I saw this summer - and as I have seen over the last several years - my experience has been that a large majority of the popular LV Strip rooms do not tolerate behavior like this *at all*. They have no problem running out regulars of theirs - even if it just for a day.

I guess when/while the room continues to be packed, people are less likely to care about stuff like this. And if Bravo has been any indication, they've been filling up just fine. So maybe I'm the a-hole here, who knows.

I am admittedly a vicious bitch when someone pisses me off but I can usually manage to keep it to a dull roar when I'm at the table for the sake of maintaining a decent atmosphere for the game. It blows my mind that this doesn't matter to some people. For better or worse, we live in a society with mores and standards of behavior which most of the population attempts to abide by so that life sucks less. These parasites who just say whatever the **** they want with no regard for anyone else and have *any* expectation that people will acquiesce to their bull**** shouldn't be permitted to pass on their DNA, and definitely shouldn't be allowed to take their childhood issues out on people in a poker room who are just there to play some cards and have a little fun.

I mean, God.

I feel like part of that may be coming through in this thread though...I'm willing to give Hifi the benefit of the doubt as the few 2-2 female regs are pretty well behaved. Hifi is right regarding the floor ruling as card should speak.

As far as some of the other comments, Georgetown doesn't like poor ppl? I have seen just as many poor sports from the small business owner crowd as from the "degenerate" crowd so I don't know where that comment was going.

I think the problem at MD Live is several of the poker room floor people are also dealers. Even if someone is a complete a-hole, if they are a well tipping a-hole they are never reprimanded.

There are a handful of reg's that wouldn't last 2 hours in a Vegas card room that are tolerated daily at MD Live. If one them sits down at my table, I usually just rack up my chips and move to another game or go home.

There is a reason Vegas has little to no tolerance for abusive behavior. It is an industry best practice to not let the drunk idiots run things because it leads to more money for all if we have more recreational players... for both the casino and the grinders.
The real issue is not "keeping the degens that have foul behavior"...."it is attracting the average homegamers into a nice room where they do not have to feel intimidated or berated during every hand". I imagine there are a number of players that come in for the first time to "try" out a live game and then leave wondering 'What a cesspool?'

BTW. What the heck is wrong with anyone that verbally attacks females at the table?!?!?! We need more women in the game. And I say that not for women rights, but because most of you are ugly to look at. Sheesh.

Mike.......two questions.

1) What is up with the $1,000 trny on Sunday 1/10. It is not listed in the special trnys and there is very little promotion? Is there a guarantee or other unique attribute to this trny as it is a departure from the normal range of buy-ins? What prompted this one? The calendar says 20 min starting levels and the Bravo says 30 min....it has to be 30 minute, correct? One day?

2) The Live 500 does not show up on the calendar.

If you want to play 1/2 or 2/5 NL then you can do this, but I (usually) don't so I can't game select away from it. I can put up with it, take an hour break and get on the must-move (if there is one), or leave. If you play an off-brand game that is frequented by these jackasses, those are the choices.

The wording was somewhat ambiguous but I thought you were talking about the girls and just used it as a springboard to make a ****ty joke from a ten-year-old thread.

But yeah, the guys are gross sometimes. That one dude who has a zillion dollars in the box and won't buy a new sweatshirt or wash that ****ing hat, goddamn.

$120 Satellites running all week, each with a one seat guarantee - the $1K itself has no guarantee. No bounty, either.

Wow reading up on your experience...were your complaints addressed (both here & in the room)?

I see a few female players at 2-5 nl - They seem to be welcomed @ the tables & at ease there. But then am a semi-Reg casual player so I maybe missing a ton of stuff that the "pros" do. I do know a few obnoxious players (only 1 female I would put in this group). Obnoxious means delaying the game, whining too much, & generally driving away folks - I table change if I end up with them. Too bad you don't have the option.

I was up there for NYE thru Jan 3rd. I thought it was a really nice room. Just way too cold in Maryland i couldn't stay there any longer

Decent games but the promos were pretty terrible, only $500/hour despite having an extremely busy and large room. The $2,000 hour on New years day just made the place obnoxiously crowded.

I know most places moved to promos in order to make 1/2 less profitable for grinders and attract more lottery mindsets but geez they really just make poker a lot less fun for me. Hearing people talk about promotions all day.... so irritating... I think I'd prefer to hear bad beat stories and keep my $2/pot..

I will when I come back to Maryland, though that definitely won't ever be in the winter again

The issue is still pending as far as I know. I'm not sure if any action has been taken. I'll let you know when I know something.
