It isn't always cold, but the temperature is frequently poorly regulated one way or the other because the parking garage directly abuts the top of the room and is a giant heat source/sink.

The room has actually been pretty hot for the last few weeks. If it is ever cold, it is usually around 10am, 11am, etc. Then by 3 or 4 it gets to a normal temp as more people are in the room and by 6 or 7, it is actually hot imo. Although I will say that I prefer it very cold, so hot to me may be comfortable to everyone else.

BTW - You make your poker decisions based on the room temp and not the quality of the games, variety of games offered, dealers, promotional items, parking, accessibility, comps, food options etc.? Instead, you choose temperature? Odd. You are allowed to bring a long sleeve shirt of jacket in if you want.....

I think there's some merit to the cold temperature complaint. It shows there's an issue when the main 2/2 PLO game got moved from table 27 a few weeks ago because it was like playing in an icebox almost everyday and several players were apparently uncomfortable enough to ask to move the game. I never spoke up to the floor and I just dress warmly, but I'm glad enough people said something.

Nothing wrong with making a decision on where to play based on environment anyway. If you don't feel comfortable based on safety, temperature, smells, noise, etc., nothing wrong with going to a different room. Both MDL and Horseshoe Baltimore have their pros and cons anyway, so it's not like it's absurd to prefer to play at Horseshoe over MDL. I think there can be really good games at both rooms and Horseshoe doesn't assault one's senses as much and I think it's more enjoyable playing there (for the most part) personally.

Agreed. If I am not able to be comfortable, I find it hard to concentrate for long stretches. Environment is as much as factor as promos, action, and all those other tangibles.

It's actually quite warm at MDL now. 2 players actually asked to call the floor over to request the heat be turned down.

Has anyone seen or heard what The Streak reward will be for maintaining tier level after playing 100 poker hours this year?

Of course you want to be comfortable, but merely bring a sweater or sweatshirt would take care of that, rather than driving 20 minutes to another place with no where near the amount of game options, tables, etc. JMO

I am visiting DC area in next 2 weeks.
I looked up the games running now (Tuesday night) and my head exploded.
HORSE and PLO - love it!
I see the list of games and there is Big O8 tournament!

How crazy do the PLO games get?
Do I need to be worried about gambling 3-6 way allin preflop every hand or do people actually play flops?

Any affordable places to sleep the night?
Looks like casino does not have hotel but there are some places around.
I checked some places around and they are all $100+ per night.
How is the Hampton Inn?
Do people rent room with 2 beds and share to save money?

Air bnb is the ****
Can stay an entire week for 190 in some places

Agree completely. For the most part I believe MDL has way better action, more players, better games, typically better promotions, ect. However I play almost 100% at another room because the atmosphere is completely different for me. I don't mean it's better in general, but for my personal preference i like the environment elsewhere a lot more for a number of reasons and I find when I go there I am in a very different state of mind and thus play a lot better. So I believe for me I am more profitable even in a "worse" room based off the environment

How does a sweater improve the lighting, space, or other environment factors? Honestly, I like all the area rooms for different reasons. But it is nice to have good lighting and play 9 seated at a 2/5 table....some of the players are just outright gross.

Since they have the slots super jackpot, makes sense that they can fund and hype such a promotion. A dealer said management recognizes that National Harbor would naturally draw in Nova players, so they are willing to protect market share and take away as much oxygen from the buzz a new DC poker room would generate. If it comes to be true, hope it isn't one of those BBJ with exacting qualifications, like a royal in a specific suit. A plain vanilla BBJ for $1 million would certainly retain a lot of regulars and even draw in players nationwide.
Someone here has been recommending something along these lines for the last year or so

Would be nice if it turned out to be true.

I'll be coming through here early Friday morning, what games could I expect to be going. Anything besides 1/2, 2/5 NL? When does 2-2 PLO normally start up?

PLO rarely ends. There is a list right now. It may stop Thurs. night, and then you'd have to wait until after noon, but late in the week it will often go through the night.

My guess would be SuperBowl 50. Apparently the NFL bans the use of "SuperBowl" in non-sanctioned promotions.
