So just as the 'Skins are about to kick a rare winning field goal, - and nothing is assured with those guys,- somebody switches all the sets to some game with the raiders and chiefs. Huh? The guy couldn't wait 17 more seconds? I only mention this because it is indicative of the poor management of the TVs that has been a characteristic since the room opened. If I were working the floor, I would know what's on and what people are going to want to watch. All they need is the WPost sports section.or to be living on this planet.

There is no clueless guy with a master remote. The TVs are controlled by MDL's IT department hence why the TVs and changing them are probably recurring nightmares for the floors

Bobby's has always accepted comp dollars and comp coupons at Mohegan Sun (CT) so whatever the issue is seems to be on ML decision makers. Really no excuse for not having a working relationship with a popular destination inside your own casino doors. Ridiculous if you ask me.

Got to think there's a different tax/economic situation when on a reservation, which probably makes it a completely different situation.

This is an interesting question for legalites here. I believe this would only apply however with Indians selling product and not a non-Indian selling to non-Indians. I could be wrong and hopefully someone could clarify.

Passing through the area for a few days. Gonna play at downtown Horseshoe mostly, but hope to make it to maryland live. Any suggestions whether I should rent a car or just cab it from downtown?

Taxi fare from downtown to MD Live will likely be around $30. You can also take public transportation:

Had the high hand with a 10 high straight flush for roughly 3 minutes before a Q high hit followed by the Royal about 2 minutes after that. Well it was a nice 3 minutes

Not so lucky LuckDuck! Oh well! Next time.

That kind of leads into what I wanted to ask Mike:

1. Any exciting promotions for November? Cash and Tournaments wise?
2. Any update on the Cheesecake Factory deal for comps?

Having an arrangement with The Cheesecake Factory isn't consistent with this theory. It's the business person in me that is intrigued as to how/why a corporately owned restaurant has a working relationship with one casino it leases space from but not another. There are two losers in this arrangement, Bobby's and Us, the players.

Apropos of nothing but their Burger of the Month for October is The Pacific Northwest Burger and it's amazing. Try it Topless on Greens you will not regret it.

My guess (purely a guess) is that the haggling between the local restaurant owner and the casino over the actual "exchange rate" the casino is willing to fork over for a comp dollar is the issue. A comp dollar within the casino probably really only "costs" them a fraction of its stated value, as the profit margin built into the good being exchanged for it is so high. For example, a $5 comp beer really only costs the casino $1 (even assuming overhead.)

So the external restaurant probably isn't willing to take much less than close to their own stated prices for their goods, to preserve their profits. They don't really gain from the usage of these $$ (whereas the casino does in terms of the good-will to retain their players.) That's why you see many in-casino restaurants in other places only give 2-for-1 comp $$ use: those places are not owned by the casino. They need to preserve margin.

You can argue (and the casino probably does) that it will bring additional "add on" business from folks using comp $ as a part of a larger group or bill, but Bobby's must be doing quite fine without giving up the margin.

Still no news on Cheesecake Factory, however, we do have some new prepackaged items starting soon that are reasonably priced and decent poker room food. Hopefully, they'll be an improvement on our food product and speediness of service

For November, no tournament series. We'll continue the $1,000 High Hands, Lucky Tables and return to Sunday Cash Drawings. we are also bringing back the jackets for 20 hours of play

Thanks

I've read this thread off and on but don't recall seeing this... Is there a weeknight that gets better action than others at MDL? For example, Parx has a reputation for action and big games on Tuesdays...

Just out of curiosity....

25-25 PLO - Damn. Is there some whale driving this game? 3 on the list so I'm guessing it's full.

10-25 NLHE - 1000 min? Really?

Assuming it's not too crazy and I can get up there I'll be at the kiddie game down the street.

Finally hit one of the high hands yesterday. For a 1/2 player trying to put together a reasonable bankroll the $1000 hit is very nice indeed. It is also nice to have the jackpot money spread around a little more than just the bad beat.

Good luck everybody, I have to say it feels good to hit it.
