So how many guys are living in the poker room this month? Must stink to high heaven...

Mike, instead of every hour giving away $1000 why not $500 every half hour? People get really excited about hitting high hands. We'd all be much happier not filling out tax forms. There would be twice as many winners and we all know when they win they come back.

Also, id like to see you get rid of the lucky table/lucky seat the high hand generates way more excitement for players. Food for thought.

There is something lame and unfulfilling about having the car winners name simply appear on a screen. If the car giveaway was incorporated into the high hand jackpot, where somebody could have the car ripped away from them at the last second, there would be more oohs and aaahs; of course then the car would only go to someone sitting down; you would have to be playing to win. That may be the case in reality anyway, seems like it has been for the car. But suppose you had a two hour window- and in the first 30 minutes, you could only get on the board with quads. At the end of the first 30 minutes it could be beaten, but only by an 8 high straight flush. Then in the last hour - to win you need at least a. 9 high straight flush, anything less would be void. The benefit of such a system would be to guarantee that the competiition lasts as long as possible- nothing is bigger bummer than someone getting a royal flush in the first minute. One other possibility might be to have four winners in the high hand for car- then have a drawing- with actual tickets, no computer to see which of the four wins the grand prize- the other three get a buffet. That will add to the buzz.

Car giveaway incorporated into high hand is a terrible idea. This promotion helps drive poker throughout the week with people playing more hours to get extra entries which increases the amount of revenue for the casino. There are several hundred people just waiting around on Sundays hoping to win some cash or the car. That's great for the casino which allows them to continue such awesome promotions. I do agree that it would be cooler if the giveaway was done in a more exciting way but don't think it's that big of a deal.

Why is the Mercedes promo felt on the main 2/2 plo table?
plo isn't jackpot eligible, thus plo players are not eligible for the Mercedes.

And what better way to get non-jackpot players to play a jackpot game than to make sure they know about the promotion?

That's assuming you even want people playing jackpot games.

If you get more rake / hour at a non jackpot game (as I assume 2/2 is still per hand rake and capped every pot pretty much) then it might be more profitable than a 1/2 game where take isn't capped 20 - 30% of the time.

You are forgetting the fact that 1-2 games likely get many more hands per hour.

I like whatever felt helps me win the most chips. Some folks are thinking this through a bit too much.

This would be cool- have a two hour high hand window, everyone who gets the high hand gets a ticket for the car drawing. If you have quad twos, you become eligible for the car. Someone beats you with threes, they go into the drum. Every person who gets on the high hand board becomes eligible to win the car. Then at 10 am they get called up to the podium and one of thm wins the car- not by the computer but with an authentic drum- or just as cool by spinning a wheel! You could borrow the wheel from the casino floor. Now that would be fun!
