It may be busy but not nearly enough to a point where it'll affect you in any way, but i would suggest to you to be in the poker room BEFORE 9am on saturday morning.

I think one of the big factors in the poor list clearing is the microphone/speaker system. I am sitting next to the front desk amd can barely hear the names being called. Step down one step out of the poker room and you won't even know they have a speaker system in place.

Amen, when it's busy if you aren't next to that hand sanitizer dispenser it can be difficult to hear. It'd also be great if more names could be shown, I know that's already been mentioned though.

I usally arrive by 9 AM but they don't open new tables till 10 AM b/c that's when more dealers are showing up. So I'd say it should be safe for u to secure a seat when u come around noon. However, if u come after 2 PM then be prepared to wait for 2 hrs for the 1/2 and 2/5 games. if u r plan to play 2/2 or 5/5 PLO then the wait is about an hr or less.

There's a tournament series going on and the place is slammed with 140 people on waiting lists; ok, it's really busy. I'm sure it's better when it's less crazy, but they seemed to be unable to even manage filling seats without players accusing one another of taking seats, people sitting down and taking hands (no posting) without being on the list, players getting tossed for 24hrs for improperly taking seats, etc. I've seen this very occasionally elsewhere, but this place seemed plagued by it. And they give up to a third call for an open seat before moving on to the next name on the list, painfully slow. So slow that games wind up with multiple open seats with hundreds on lists. Ugly.

At the Borgata or Foxwoods, I find the staff and dealers don't care about the players (relative to Vegas or Commerce) but at least they're competent at running a cardroom. This place was a disaster.
I was in the Poker room 4 days in a row and with the exception of some of the afternoon staff and their unprofessionalism and rudeness everything was great. The rest was professional and personable. Does any of you know how long the Borgata and Foxwoods have been open ? How long has Maryland Live been open ? Is this their first major tournament?
Last night was so over whelming with people all over the place in line for the Double chip, do any of you think you could do better ? I for one know that I couldn't, leave it to me to play. With all the over crowd I wouldn't even attempt it . When I leave to go home next week I'm going back feeling good about Maryland Live. As for the Commerce, I'm there every week at least 2 times for a few years and there they still have not remembered my name. Just saying ! The 2 blonde hair girls in the morning after 4 days now know my name.

Glad you enjoyed the room. I only play once a month but I've always had good experiences and most of the complaints in this thread are relatively minor imo.

Mike,

I have been really disappointed with Maryland Live this past week and their response to the no comps.

My friend is a Borgata Pro and he came to visit me for the week. We were at Maryland Live 3/7, 3/8, 3/9, 3/11, 3/12 and 3/13. On 3/12 alone my friend logged 14 hours. He probably had about 40-50 hours on the week. This was his first time here. We were planning to save our comps and go to Prime Rib on the last night of his stay, looked forward to it all week, then we both get told we have no comps. My friend goes to the poker host on 3/12 to try to give his side, the guy looks him up in the system and says, "I see here that you have about 30 hours, the best I can do is give you a buffet voucher, it's worth about $30." We then go to the buffet which cost us closer to $17.

Mike I think everyone understands that computer and human errors happen, but good customer service and the right thing to do, would be if anything to air on the side of caution and slightly over comp. I really was disappointed with ML's attitude. It's not the players' fault that ML can't get its computer systems to work and honestly it did feel like the casino stole from us.

+1

If this issue were not effecting just poker players, I would think it would have been resolved by now.

Sounds to me like we did. You'll still have your comp dollars when it gets resolved.

Thanks

I've been told that by a few people that they'll be there once everything is back online but I'm concerned that the hours won't be correct based on my friend's experience. It also doesn't really help is specific case because the comps expire and he's not coming back for a few months. I think at the very least live should try to waive the expiration date for all comps earned whole the system was down. I think a sign of good customer service would be to comp at 1.5x for those hours or to have a "free roll" tournament for all who had above 20 hours or so. Just some thoughts.

Thanks for answering so fast.

I'm told the comp issue is fixed and the ratings are now going through. I'd give it a day to see if all the ratings that didn't go through have caught up. I've requested an exemption on the 30 days but make no promises

Thanks

New update: Might take until Monday as there are over 15,000 ratings that have to go through.

Thanks

What table were you are yesterday? I arrived at 1 PM yesterday and had them started the 5/5 must move game on table 15 which right across the 10/10 way in the back. Gotta love this PLO bingo game.

Side-bar: Did you know you are responsible for the bravo system login? I got kicked out from bravo for some unknown reason and did not realize until the dealer asked for my card again. I told the dealer I was sitting there for a long time and the floor came and said is my responsible to keep track on the bravo system. I said WTF, not only I have to keep track with 4 cards and now I also need to keep track of bravo? Why is it my responsible when bravo failed to register my card? I ended up getting no credits for the time that I was kicked out.

This is a known problem... I was at a table where 2 players lost four or five hours and the floor said they would not credit them for ANY time at the table because of the "possibility of abuse". This was despite 4 players saying that they had been there since the table opened.

I make it a habit to check once an hour or so.

So your telling me before the days of Maryland Live and bravo when people used to play in Atlantic city "they" didn't clock in with the supervisor and just get lost for hours at a time and then clock out?

In my years around casinos the players absolutely buried the casinos compwise by lying to supervisors they were playing 20/40 when they were playing 1/5 stud etc etc etc

There was even a group/several groups of guys who would swipe in at the taj walk to showboat swipe in then go over to ballys and the trop for the "card zapper".....totally abused the system

Also just remember when it's 5 way action to you preflop at Maryland live for $20 and you make it $100 and take the pot down that's an extra $6 in your stack compared to if you were playing at Charlestown

Players have it pretty good at Maryland live!

I check my name in the bravo also about once an hour. I know that when they used to correct players time it was being abused. I know on several occasions players were asking for more time than they had.
It's only $1 to $1.50 per hour and I don't think it is worthwhile to tie the floor up when there are more important things to do like get players seated in a timely manner. Even in the lowest games this hourly rate is negligible compared to the amount of money being wagered. Most, if not everyone, are tipping at a faster rate than this.

I just checked my comp account. I had $10 yesterday morning, played 12 hours yesterday, and now have $53 so they must have gotten the system backlog fixed.

I always check to make sure my name is logged in after they swipe my card. People kind of look at my like I'm crazy when I do it, but whatever. I got burned a couple of times when the poker room first opened. Dealers swiping my card in then a few hours later I see guest in my seat#. It is a good idea to periodically check throughout the session as well, though I don't think I have had any issues after verifying my name appeared at the beginning.

Food could definitely be better .

I think that honestly the Bravo doesn't drop names that often, but dealers make errors when they swipe you in the first time (if it doesn't read the card), or if you switch seats (that's what happened to the people on my table).
