Tonight and next Thursday will be this way. There was very little wait or lists Monday to Wednesday with no nightly tournament. This weekend will have some tables going but yes we start at 10:15 so live games follow quickly in the afternoon

Thanks

Do all of your comps expire after 30 days if you don't play at all, or each comp expires after 30 days regardless?

Self-comps expire after 30 days of inactivity.

Reward points (slots, pit games, e-tables, etc) expire after 90 days of inactivity.

So, as long as I play once a week, nothing expires, right?

Thanks.

I was in town for business and stopped by for the first time. I've spent a fair amount of time at poker rooms throughout the country, and this was the least impressed I've ever been with dealers & staff.

There's a tournament series going on and the place is slammed with 140 people on waiting lists; ok, it's really busy. I'm sure it's better when it's less crazy, but they seemed to be unable to even manage filling seats without players accusing one another of taking seats, people sitting down and taking hands (no posting) without being on the list, players getting tossed for 24hrs for improperly taking seats, etc. I've seen this very occasionally elsewhere, but this place seemed plagued by it. And they give up to a third call for an open seat before moving on to the next name on the list, painfully slow. So slow that games wind up with multiple open seats with hundreds on lists. Ugly.

At the Borgata or Foxwoods, I find the staff and dealers don't care about the players (relative to Vegas or Commerce) but at least they're competent at running a cardroom. This place was a disaster.

Do the comp dollars for poker come from the jackpot drop? If so, when they expire are they returned to the reserve or are they just profit for the casino?

A few pages back Mike Smith gave the dates of upcoming hand promos. Can't remember when it ends but it's definitely in April. I think it starts March 31 (Monday)

They have been doing much better than this lately. This was one of the worst I have seen since they opened. I think this was just a very bad night and the staff got overwhelmed. I would avoid the place next Thursday since Mike said he expects the same situation.
I think because the room is so small and that they are on 2 floors makes it more difficult to manage than a room like the Borgota. It's difficult for the staff to move freely around the room, especially when they are this crowded.
If you look outside you can see that the roadway limited the amount of room they had for an addition so they had to just cram tables in a small space.
Hopefully when the Horseshoe opens it will take some pressure off this room.

I am inclined to agree in parts. Given their unique challenges they will struggle.

HOWEVER, some of the floor guys are among the laziest I have seen anywhere. The brush is doing their job according to the training/policies and need support from floor people.

Often I see the floor chatting away with each other instead of proactively moving a long list while my table has a couple of spots open. I only noted 2-3 that were like this and they are definitely in the minority. But they are a choke point that makes things worse and overwhelms the whole room and everyone else.

One possible solution - assign floor to specific areas/tables/games. That way they are responsible for only that part and can refer people to relevant floor when needed.

I showed up on Thursday right before the 1/2 list started. Was sent to a table, someone sniped the seat or something so I went back up to the desk and told her there was no open seat. During that one minute 5 names went up on the list and she put me at the end of the list. Didn't seem the least bit concerned the seat had been possibly self sat (guy put down his card + 1 red chip and walked away from the table as I was coming over. Didn't tell her that though.) Had to wait 10 minutes to get sat again. Didn't seem fair to me, but didn't say anything about it. Not surprised things got messy later. I actually left with my chips to hit up the buffet later and I didn't realize the line had blown up to 50+. Was going to play all night after I ate, but decided not to hassle with the 70+ waiting list. Everything seemed to be moving slowly with the tournament going.

If your planning on playing next Thursday, get there by noon. To avoid the wait completely get there by 11am!

1. Say something about the line jumper.
2. Ask why you're being placed at the end of the list, even if it's only 5 names.

Those are things that you should be speaking up about.

Unrelated note:

A couple of friends and I plan on coming up tomorrow but we're planning on stopping at Golden Corral for breakfast at 9am first.

Anyone know how busy GC is that time of morning?

We want to be ready to play by 10ish to beat the afternoon rush.

It' usually not a problem Saturday morning but with the Poker Classic running these next 2 weeks there's no telling what it will be like.

Thanks, yeah, that's what I figured. That's why we want to be there by 10. My question is about Golden Corral at 9am though.

We want to grab a bite to eat before heading over and wanted to known of anyone knew of GC would be busy at 9.
