Man, I love this place. Big ups to Mike and the entire staff for handling the encouragingly overwhelming demand yesterday. And big ups to Mike for hiring my favorite dealer away from Pville and DP. Clearly some great personnel decisions were made.

A couple things that I can live with if they don't change, but thought I'd give my two cents on anyway:

-It's a lot easier to yell "floor" than "supervisor". This seems a lot like reinventing the wheel to me. Kinda cheesy, and I think it probably doesn't accomplish what you were going for. Of course, I bow to your expertise.

-While blue chips are nice for management, they SUCK for players in an NL game. The fewer denominations on the table the better, especially one so easily mistaken for one 12.5x its value. My initial thought was "you guys need to get your eyes checked" until I accidentally bet $78 into a $29 pot with a partially obscured blue chip in it.

Like I said, I can get used to both, but I figured a little feedback couldn't hurt. Thanks again for everything, can't wait to play again (tonight after work if I can't get any overtime sounds good )

Left nova at 3PM, took 295, didn't get there until 4:45. Waited 1.5 hours to sit down at a table. Dealers were good for the most part, though one managed to screw up action for me where I flopped trips and would've made quads on the turn but the dealer got distracted somehow and dealt the turn right after my action (I was first to act with 5 other people....). Lack of floor was annoying, had to wait several minutes for one to show up, another time there was no floor to be seen in the room at all and we ended up re-dealing the hand. Chairs are nice. Lack of easy access to restrooms if sitting at the back end of the room is also annoying.

Frankly I prefer the drive to Charlestown because of the lack of traffic and cleaner air, but if it's truly dead in ctown as they say in their thread, then I'm still coming here.

I agree! Seems like it would be easy to do and helpful to the players

What is the ruling is I grab a stack of chips announce $75 as I toss them in, but it turns out the chips are blue instead of green-totaling $6? Does 75 stand or 6?

I checked Bravo which doesn't seem too bad. Is there a long line to get on the wait lists?

Since you announced 75, you're committed to 75. It's just like announcing 50 and accidentally grabbing 55 and throwing it into the pot. The 5 will get kicked back to you because you're announced bet is the bet that stands.

If you keep track of the pot size in your head, you won't be misled by misinterpreting the value of a chip in the pot.

I agree, but I could see this being held to a bet of $6 if the chips hit the felt before the player announced, "$75."

Not short 40 games right now with more dealers coming in at 3p we should be OK

btw, more than 3000 signed up for the first tournament of the Sept series already at borgata. I hope you can handle crowds like that.

Looking forward to seeing the room. Stuck in NJ at the moment. .

Right now there are 27 games at ML, and 12 at Borgata, 13 at the CET properties in AC. That does not include GN, Taj and the Trop who are not on Bravo.

Joe in Silver Spring.
We'll be OK

Sounds like the dealer/Floor interpreted it as a IWTSTH request instead. Or maybe that is the rule at ML!

I would side with Guy A. Guy B gave up rights to hand-privacy when he showed his hand to his neighbor and should not get the standard "if the winner asks you hand becomes live" protection.

Guy C or Guy D or Guy E should have piped up and put in their own request to see the hand.
That's possible although we don't allow IWTSTH. Have to address it

Thanks

Hey Mike,

Would you ever open another room?

If so, as Kenny Loggins sang, Please come to Boston in the springtime (of 2015). Great job of listening to what your audience had to say.

When I left about midnight there was still a line to get in the room. Ill probably go back tonight
I don't think Angus was criticizing where you posted the question. I think he was pointing out that you brought up an interesting situation regarding the interplay between two common rules: SOSA and IWTSTH, and which rule should take precedence.

It might provide for interesting discussion in B&M.

Probably 2 hours is fair for our first one. Eventually, we'll allow registration anytime, but our Finance folks aren't ready for that.

Depends how many people show up.

The cards were kind to me, and I walked out with an extra mortgage payment after 11 hours. Expect a lot of weaker players, and the variance that comes with that, at least for a while.

The food from Phillips was very good, and very moderately priced. Great job there.

The dealers, as a whole, did a good job. There was certainly some discrepancies on knowing and enforcing the rules, but I expect that will get ironed out moving forward.

Whoever hired the waitresses did a right proper job of it. Very attractive, and that's going to go a long ways towards keeping the recreational players coming back. Give that guy a high-five from me. (And likely, many others.)

Only thing I would ask you to consider, is some balance with the dealers banks. We're all getting used to the $2 chip, but I've yet to see a bank with any $25 chips, at least at 1/2. We had to call chip runners several times just to chip up and make room on the table.

Thank-you Mike! I will proudly be wearing my hat, from what will soon be the top poker room on the East Coast.
Thank you. we are trying to keep the banks small and used to make change for rake only. When dealers do buy-ins, it causes more bank fills and more down time selling chips. We simply don't have enough chip runners....yet

What I liked best about the room:
-sufficient USB ports and outlets under the table for player use (although I did have the problem of my iPhone freezing while plugged in; I just unplugged when I needed it)
-free wifi
-can order food at table

What I didn't like:
-not able to use comp dollars for Cheesecake Factory, Prime Rib, or Bobby's Burger Palace
-2/2 PLO had a $2 bring in. Every 1/2 PLO game I've played had a $5 bring in, which I prefer. It speeds up the game b/c it's easier for the dealer to keep track of the pot size, and just as importantly, it makes the pots bigger. Playing PLO with $8 in the middle doesn't make for an exciting game.

Things that are in the works, but couldn't implement yesterday:
-must-move table to protect the main game(s) for 5/5 PLO and 5/10 NL
-dinner list system that allows you to remove your chips from the table and get you first on the wait list when you return from dinner
-call-ins to get on wait list
Thank you for the compliments.

We are working on a way to use comp dollars at those locations, but we don't own Bobby's or Cheesecake so it's taking some ironing out

I understand wanting to bring it in for $5, but we believe that makes the game play too big and that's not the goal of the 2/2. Let's give it some time, we can adjust if necessary.

Thanks

Mike

That's how I took it as well. And he's correct. B&M is the parent forum of this one, and is good for questions about rulings and situations in general.

A little disappointed there's a lack of a limit HE game higher than 4/8. Maybe during nights and weekends we can get a steady 8/16 and 15/30 going.

Mid limit omaha may have traction.

I'm excited.

I do know that the casino is non-smoking. I sure hope that this applies to e-cigarets as well. They aren't nearly as safe, and their second hand "vapor" isn't nearly as safe, as the companies claim.

They've been outlawed and/or regulated the same as cigarets in numerous countries and U.S. jurisdictions (N.J., for example, bans them anyplace smoking isn't allowed.

They do have an odor, and they are dangerous to those around the smoker. Please check the scientific evidence on this!

I'm not sure you can really get a good feeling of what games will and won't run on a steady basis since this is only the 2nd day the room has been open. There was a 15/30 HE game going yesterday and there are 9 on the list for it now so I'd bet on a game getting started today as well.

Thank you Mike for continuing to keep us informed and being active here even during the opening days of the room, a period during which I am sure you are overwhelmed with room related matters.

Also wanted to mention that the floors and dealers and everyone else working there did a great job on the opening day. Your staff deserves a big round of applause.

Completely agree, please dont make the game play bigger. The whole appeal of this game is that its essentially the only lower limit plo game in the region.

There are now "Vaporless E-cigs" that have virtually no emission or smell.

Mike,
Please ban smoking. Smoking with any vapor interferes with other people, not just the person smoking.

If it is truly a vapor less cigarette, I don't mind.
