Congrats to Mike and team on a great opening. I came little before 9:00 pm last night and only had to wait about an hour to get in rum and was quickly seated once I had my name on the list.

One thing I would like to point out and ask if anyone else has noticed: If you plug you smartphone into the USB ports of the table, I have noticed the phone will freeze intermittently while its plugged in. It happens on iphone and Droid I have. Mike, not sure if you have had in complaints about this or not. I will try to just plug in to the AC outlet with the AC iphone charger the next time I'm there to see if it still freezes.

Just a few things I noticed last night while playing 5/10 NL and 5/5 PLO, in no particular order (I realize some of these might be unique to opening day):

1) No must move for 5/5 PLO. I think this game plays much better with a must move list, probably up to 4 tables. I understand that last night there was no must move because the two tables were on different floors. If this happens again in the future, however, I think we should still protect the main game with must move games.

2) Unclear must move for 5/10 NL. Apparently around 10 PM or so, there was no longer a must move list, and people were on multiple table change lists, seats weren't getting filled due to confusion about transfers, etc. Again, for 2K+ buy-in games, I think it works best if we keep a linear must move list.

3) $2 chips aren't necessary in the bigger games? At least at one point, our 5/5 PLO table ran out of whites and only had the $2 chips. I think for time games, the well can consist mainly of whites and we would be fine and require a fill less frequently, in case you will be reserving certain sections of the room for bigger games.

4) Fractional time for new players. This is totally new to me, and I appreciate the business reasons for it, but is there any way you can eliminate this? I think it's important to make new players feel welcome; charging them time right away seems a little aggressive?

5) Some of my friends and I were waiting in line yesterday when the 10/25 NL ran for a little bit then broke due to lack of players. Some of us (and a few others I recognized) would have definitely played that game if admitted into the room. I hope the long line to register for a game isn't going to be a frequent occurrence, but in case it happens again, I think if there are open seats for certain games, it would be nice if those in line were eligible to play.

6) People were a little thrown off by the unusual dealer change times (quarter to and quarter of). This isn't a big deal, but just curious if there are compelling reasons for doing this?

7) Any chance of bigger water bottles and free Red Bull?

Just my two cents.

Thanks again for making Live poker possible and being so patient and responsive on 2+2. See you soon!
1. We'll be trying to keep the bigger games on the first floor in the future for a number of reasons, a must moves is one of them. Yesterday we opened games when and where we could.

3. We're going to keep them for a while although we could take them out of 10/25 banks. we just currently have all the banks uniform.

4. Not going to change at this point.

5. Shouldn't be a problem in the future.

6. Just a preference of mine as we can get them in early and do pre-shifts and they can chill before going to work. It should have 0 effect on players.

7. Probably not and probably not

Thanks

Mike

This. Generally a poker room is not a profitable as the rest of a casino.

But it does get gamblers into the room. If I was running MD Live casino yesterday, I would have been throwing up in my mouth having hundreds of gamblers in line waiting to put their name on a list instead of having their name on the list and having them roam around the casino floor with a chance they drop some coin on a table game or slot, or to a lesser degree going next door and buying the ms a new pair of shoes.

At Foxwoods, when I sign up for a game, I have them text me when my name is called. Once they text me, they lock up my seat for 10 minutes. Also I can check the board and get an idea how quickly they are going through the list.

I brought my daughter up to College Park or College Pahk as I say it. Got to visit the MD Live Casino with a buddy and it was a nice place. One thing they need to settle in my opinion, is having local spots in the mall, especially restaurants take casino points. As players start piling up points, if they have to wait, they can get a burger at Bobby Burgers or drinks at Cheesecake (since you can't drink for free anywhere in the casino) or even go shopping. I would think that would be a value added to everyone.

Since the poker room is now open 24/7, they should have a steady flow and be able to get everyone into the system as they arrive, unlike what occurred yesterday.

Looking forward to visiting my daughter more often now that I have a cool new poker room to visit. Too bad the Terps don't have a football team good enough for me to have another reason to visit.

I used AC outlet with my iPhone without any problems.

Mike,

Good morning. Fyi, people were using the elevator to jump in line yesterday and register on the second floor. Keep an eye out this weekend. I'm sure there will be a million people there.

Just noticed that there are large queues right now on bravo and only 17 tables. Is there a shortage of dealers available or its there just a delay.

Not complaining just wondering.

Speakers were working during this time. I walked by the 2/2 plo to get seated at NL, and saw the seats available. I asked the floor, and got seated immediately. They called my name for the 5/5 plo too, so they were working.

Maxed out at 27 games with a LONG waiting list at noon on the second week day. Time to get more dealers.

and different space for the tournaments. I hope you have a meeting room like they have at Borgata. Seriously, you've tapped a market BIGGER than Phily, and at the moment, you are the only game in town

btw, more than 3000 signed up for the first tournament of the Sept series already at borgata. I hope you can handle crowds like that.

Looking forward to seeing the room. Stuck in NJ at the moment. .

Right now there are 27 games at ML, and 12 at Borgata, 13 at the CET properties in AC. That does not include GN, Taj and the Trop who are not on Bravo.

Joe in Silver Spring.

There is an elevator to the right of the entrance to the poker room.

Mike,

Can you confirm if the Deepstack tourney will run this Sunday? I've asked several dealers and some have said that it is supposed to run but were not 100% sure.

Maybe you should post this in the main B&M forum.

Sounds like the dealer/Floor interpreted it as a IWTSTH request instead. Or maybe that is the rule at ML!

I would side with Guy A. Guy B gave up rights to hand-privacy when he showed his hand to his neighbor and should not get the standard "if the winner asks you hand becomes live" protection.

Guy C or Guy D or Guy E should have piped up and put in their own request to see the hand.

I just want to defend the "Line" concept here.
I have been to 3 other poker room openings.
The most notable thing about everyone getting onto the list is that the filling of seats takes way too long. You never know when the name you are calling is just slightly out of earshot, in the bathroom, taking a cig break, or what. So you have to at least call the name, wait, call it again, wait then give last call.
At these other openings, once 40+ people were on the list, that number of walk offs was about 50%. So almost every seat fill attempt took 10 minutes. The vacaency rate was higher than 10 minutes, causing a high number of open seats, sometimes 3 open seats at a single table, all the while play names being called for seating. Letting 10 at a time in pretty much solved this. more seats filled is good for the casino, and good for the players at the table. More available money to the players.

I swear, some of you degens can't see past your nose. See you all around 2 PM.

2. How many seats will be available for the Monday Satellite game?

Put in a long session yesterday, had a great time! Will be back tonite. There was a LOT of loose play at my 1/2 table. Some solid players were tilting at being on the unfortunate side of variance. The cards were kind to me, and I walked out with an extra mortgage payment after 11 hours. Expect a lot of weaker players, and the variance that comes with that, at least for a while.

The food from Phillips was very good, and very moderately priced. Great job there.

The dealers, as a whole, did a good job. There was certainly some discrepancies on knowing and enforcing the rules, but I expect that will get ironed out moving forward.

Whoever hired the waitresses did a right proper job of it. Very attractive, and that's going to go a long ways towards keeping the recreational players coming back. Give that guy a high-five from me. (And likely, many others.)

Only thing I would ask you to consider, is some balance with the dealers banks. We're all getting used to the $2 chip, but I've yet to see a bank with any $25 chips, at least at 1/2. We had to call chip runners several times just to chip up and make room on the table.

Thank-you Mike! I will proudly be wearing my hat, from what will soon be the top poker room on the East Coast.

If I may add on Felex's request:

3. When can we see the structure for the Satty's? If a structure of the Satty's is already posted, please let me know the post#.

I was impressed with the room and felt Mike and the staff did a superb job, given the circumstances. I hopped around and played two sessions each of 1/2 NL, 2/5 NL, 2/2 PLO (with Greg Raymer in my first session), and 5/5 PLO.

What I liked best about the room:
-sufficient USB ports and outlets under the table for player use (although I did have the problem of my iPhone freezing while plugged in; I just unplugged when I needed it)
-free wifi
-can order food at table

What I didn't like:
-not able to use comp dollars for Cheesecake Factory, Prime Rib, or Bobby's Burger Palace
-2/2 PLO had a $2 bring in. Every 1/2 PLO game I've played had a $5 bring in, which I prefer. It speeds up the game b/c it's easier for the dealer to keep track of the pot size, and just as importantly, it makes the pots bigger. Playing PLO with $8 in the middle doesn't make for an exciting game.

Things that are in the works, but couldn't implement yesterday:
-must-move table to protect the main game(s) for 5/5 PLO and 5/10 NL
-dinner list system that allows you to remove your chips from the table and get you first on the wait list when you return from dinner
-call-ins to get on wait list

Can't believe anyone would complain about almost anything the 1st day or even 1st week or 2. Sounds like they did the best they could with a crazy opening day. C-Town took forever to iron things out and they still have a lot of issues. I'd give them a couple weeks at least. I am not sure when I am going to go, but if I do over the next few days, I will expect long wait times even with empty seats, slow chip runners, dealers of varying quality, slow table service, and a variety of other inconveniences and I won't sweat it for a second. To expect anything more is unfair.

If people don't want the craziness, wait it out for a week or two and go to C-town.

I don't know, but would also like to know.

There was a guy at my table yesterday and none of the dealers said anything. At one point, the floor was called, and that guy was using his E-cig while discussing the hand with the supervisor. Hopefully, at least the vaporless variety will be allowed.

I don't know if this is accurate but CBS Baltimore is reporting that the first tournament is on Monday, Sept 2nd. He mentions it at the end of the video.
