Agreed. As long as they treat each other like any other player when in a hand, there's no issue.

I don't even think you have to go that far... We all have played with people where we would soft play, check it down, run it twice, etc where we wouldn't with others.

I would say that as long as they aren't cheating, signaling, working together, etc. it's fine.

Last time I checked, it is the dealers'/Floors' job to maintain the integrity of the game. Their justification for taking rake and tips.

While I do speak up, I can get tired of doing their job for them.

Amen. I have gotten plenty of flack for doing the right thing.

Anyone have any idea if there is anything worthwhile in the gift shop? Are the points used there 1:1?

Comps are 1:1 except for cigarettes.

As for being worthwhile, you'll have to decide for yourself. There's hats and clothes and such.

I can't tell you how many times I have seen a player that corrects something at the table get berated by another player endlessly. As much as I would like to correct a wrong, sometimes I prefer to stay quiet instead of drawing the ire of a mentally unstable player for the next 30 minutes.

Agreed, I will only say something if I think the player is getting an advantage

It's usually gets in the neighborhood of 120 runners and lasts past midnight. You can always check the bravo poker app or bravo poker online to see how many runners the pervious weeks tourney had

I apologize if this has been asked and answered--I cannot see where it has, though.

I am thinking about coming to MD Live! poker room for the first time this weekend. I play limit poker only. I prefer to play 20 game and higher, but will sit in 15 game if that's all there is. I will play a 50 game, but only if game conditions dictate a + EV for my style of play. Will sit in any 25 game that may go, but prefer not to play short.

With this info in mind, I'd appreciate advice as to the following:

1. What is the best time to arrive on a Friday to ensure good action but not a crazy-long wait to get onto the game? What limits can I expect to see on this night?

2. Same question for Saturday, but I am willing to come anytime of day this Saturday, whereas on Friday I can't make it until late-afternoon.

3. Sunday same as Saturday.

And finally (and please don't laugh--I'm a Borg reg and just haven't made the trip to Live! yet...): the poker room is open 24/7, right? It's not a situation where they have to close at some particular hour, I'm hoping...

Thank you very much in advance for any replies/info you may be able to provide, and I look forward to meeting some of y'all in the games/on the floor. (Oh! And I gotta give prop's to Mike, as he is, quite obviously, earning the respect and gratitude of his reg's... That says a whole lot about a room and the way it's run, IMHO.)

Again, thanks!

Mike,

It seems like cards are sliding under the railing more and more everyday. It appears to happen more often in the 4 and 7 seats.

First off... yes, it's 24/7.

The good limit games tend to get going between 10am-noon on Fri-Sun. I would advise getting there around then as the games probably won't truly fill up until early afternoon. If it's a little slower (which I highly doubt this time of year), you can always find 5-5 PLO or a 5-10 NL game to sit in until the bigger Limit Games get going.

Does live match rewards cards tiers? As if I'm diamond at horseshoe, will they put me at equal tier here?

First up for 5/5 PLO. 2 seats open, they call me and I still get sniped and nothing to be done about it.

I am looking for a printed version of the Bad Beat rules and how the jackpots are funded. It's the same thing that flashes on the screen in the poker room. If anyone has that and can post it or PM it to me, it would be great. Thanks.

Mike, this might seem kind of nitpicky but there's a sharp edge on the case holding the TV right above the seats near the front desk. I've seen tons of people hit their heads on it when sitting down. Seems to be an issue

TY. Very grateful for your response.

I am in DC right now and I am feeling like I've got to play cards tonight. I gather there won't be a game tonight, but am thinking I will just go check out the room tonight and then take your advice and come back on Saturday. So see you soon.

(And lol that I said, "I only play limit," and you said, "Oh baby. It's ALLLLL good! Just come sit in our little ol' 5-5 PLO game while you wait for your table to start!" And I might JUST donk off some checks to you in the PLO, so you're smart to give me the heads up!) XO

the 2-2 PLO 8 game runs every weekend usually starting early friday afternoon and lately straight through til sunday morning and usually gets off the ground a couple weeknights each week, but there's no real rhyme or reason as to when

25 or 50 will almost definitely go tonight. Weeknight games usually start around 8 pm and go until 2 am-ish or all night into the next day, depending on who's playing. Weekend games usually start by 1 or 2 pm on either Friday or saturday and then go all weekend.

That said, the limit ecosystem here is still pretty fragile. 25 cannabilzed 15 and 50 has cannabilized 25. Basically only one game of 15+ will ever be going at a given time. For the past month or so that game has been 50, but 25 has gotten off a few times. 15 basically never goes although it went randomly last Friday.

Also, if the three or four people who start games are out of town, a game likely won't go at all. If you want to play 25 or 50, be willing to start short and it will fill up.

A couple more things

1. I think there will be games all weekend this weekend.
2. We have an email list for limit games, which is the best way to keep up to date with what's going on. Pm me your email if you want to be added.
3. If you play, please be good for the game. Ie. Don't show up in headphones and sit there only piping up once in a while to talk about ev and strategy. Be friendly and outgoing...maybe have a drink or two even.

wow, going east on the beltway is always countertraffic from dtss BUT getting close to ML was a pain. TOO MUCH TRAFFIC way back there on 95 ( just north of Laurel and then all the way in on 100. I do not remember this much traffic during Orioles games at this time of night.

Maybe it is just an accident or something. in four or five places.

at any rate ML with no lines, that is a plus.

Mall traffic during holidays + regular old rush hour equals bad times.

Tournament players: heard a rumor...

Starting in Jan. ML may be planning a larger buy-in tourney one Sunday per month ($700-1k buyin??). If true, is this a good idea? How many runners would this attract?
Do you think the Philly/NJ pros would come down for this, and if so, is this good or bad for us locals? (The pros can fire a lot more bullets than we can, presumably?!?)
