Can’t believe I missed this, good time though with the rake increase. Haven’t played at Mdlive since 2016 — what sane winning player would play nl at mdlive other than nits who don’t want to deal with traffic and wait lists? Nittier games plus now they will be raked more than softer games elsewhere, buy an ez pass fellas and download some podcasts. MGMNH, Borgata, NOLA, Vegas, and West coast fun players I talk with always complain about 8 handed because the tables get shorter faster. I assume you are a promo grinder that likes to make the games worse, which is why you play at live so much and are adverse to change, for that I will give you a pass and spell it out for you.
Remember, you make a lot of your profit at llsnl by being the last aggressor in large multi-way pots with strong hands and fun players love those big bloated pots, they enjoy playing wacky/bad in them. By being 8/7/6/5 handed, it just decreases the likelihood of big spots. Sort of the same concept in allowing cash to play, easier for people to reload, not be embarrassed, so it increases the chances you get into those big spots. That’s more of a regulation issue but something I think we should champion here on the deuce and get the Overton window going.
Everyone here is going to whine about the rake, offer no alternative except lower it, and nothing will happen… the decline of mdlive will continue. Maybe if the games just die out in one week, they will roll back the rake but I have only ever seen that happen once, it was in the northwest. Make the games better with more action and the rake bump wouldn’t matter. Maybe that’s increasing players per table, maybe not. Other ways would be institute a dead button ante and make blinds flat so 1/3 and 2/5 would be (2)3/3 and (3)5/5, or make the button a blind like in San Fran, or institute a sleeper straddle etc etc.
