Hey all, wondering if there is enough of a game (cash game) at Odawa casino? It looks like there is a cash game thurs-sun, 4pm -?

Im contemplating moving to the general area, but need somewhere to play. Did some searches and didnt find much. Any first hand insight into the games here would be great. Stakes, buy-in caps, tables, etc

Haven’t played there in a few years, but when I lived in the area I was a regular. Cash games can happen during the week but they only consistently get cash games on Friday/weekends and play until 3 am. When it gets busy they can get up to 3 tables but usually only 1 or 2 run. It’s 200 cap 1/2 and occasionally 2/5 or 5/10 will run if you get the right guys in there and it’s a very juicy game when it runs.

They have some really esoteric rules you need to be cautious of. The betting line is strict so any chips that cross the line must be bet. If your cards touch the board, muck, pot or other player’s cards they may be declared dead (management changed recently so it’s possible this rule changed as well, I really hope so). Just be really careful of how you table your hand and how you place bets.

The staff and regulars are mostly pretty nice people. There are one or two grumps but that’s normal for any room.

Traverse city is kind of nearby but a friend told me they closed their room recently. It’s possible this will help Odawa’s room and they may have more than the 1-2 tables I’ve described thanks to that.

Turtle Creek closed their room in Traverse City .. All the way to Mount Pleasant for other live casino poker. GL

Odawa is closer than Soaring Eagle for most people going to TC. I don't like either room. It's a shame TC closed their poker room.

When I lived in Charlevoix I drove all the way to Firekeepers rather than playing at Soaring.

Thanks guys for the responses! I appreciate it! Looks like the family and I may be moving to TC spring 2021. Doesnt sound like i will be able to get enuf volume at Odawa to make it work. But maybe with pokerstars and Odawa i can make it work. I dont want to regularly drive to Soaring eagle. Long commutes for poker really suck. Im doing that now. Thanks again for the feedback!

I wonder why Odawa isnt on Bravo? It would be cool to get an idea of what games are running and when.

Bravo costs $$ to install and maintain. Also, when you are running a 2-3 table 'part time' room with a fickle Player pool it's probably not too hard to keep tabs on. Certainly more info is better than no info, but probably not worth the outlay.

I would also be surprised if Players get any comps from poker there either. They may keep track somehow and 'hand' enter later. GL

Used to be $.30/h or something but last time I checked that was discontinued.

Bumping this very old thread. Any recent reports on Odawa?

The last time this casino came up in conversation (last Summer?) a Player indicated that they do still have one or two tables on the Floor but the game is hit or miss. When the game does go it's like all the Players walk up together so as to control the lineup .. but that's pretty hard to do IMO.

Obv they aren't on Bravo and do shut down by 2am every day, even weekends.

Best thing to do is call them when they're open and see what you can find out .. not really expecting too many 2+2 members to hang out in that part of the state.


It may depend on the time of year as well. Obv more traffic in Summer, but also the locals are less busy in Winter, so who knows!


It's a hike, but I assume the 'home game' that wrecked the Turtle Creek room in TC still runs .. and I also assume there's a game somewhere 'everywhere' and it's just a matter of running into the right people. Dealers at the casino will probably know the local scene as well looking for cash work, but you can't get that information over the phone.

I was in the area for President's Day weekend. My only window to play was going to be Sunday afternoon/evening.

They only run the cash game Fridays and Saturdays from 4pm -1:30am or something like that.
I thought maybe they'd run it on Sunday since Monday was a holiday, but nope.

They did have a Sunday tournament which started at 2pm, but I wouldn't have been able to get there in time for that.

Oh well, next time.
