Shoe looks better to me. Lower buy in for a higher guarantee. So what if they don't make the 20K (which I bet they do) both rooms should be packed. I would not want to be around the mall on Black Friday but I'm sure both will be great places to play.

New poster and new, in general, to live poker. Played my first session last week and I don't THINK I came off as a newbie. At least, it felt like my action was being taken seriously by the other players.

1/2 NL at MDL or 1/3 NL at the Shoe this Saturday night? Will either be more/less crowded due to the holiday weekend? Which game is likely to be softer for a new player?

I probably will not make it to a casino until 10 or 11 PM.

Yes, it is surprising that Shoe has better promos in December, considering that ML is taking $2 per pot for the bad beat compared to $1 at Shoe, and ML has more tables.

Shoe has barely any promos in November. Maybe they've decided to have good promos only every other month?

Or, perhaps ML is trying to see how weak they can make their promos and still get customers, in hopes of saving jackpot dollars to build up their promotional fund to prepare to do battle with MGM next summer/fall?

Get the Bravo Poker Live app for your phone. It will tell you how many tables running and the waiting lists before you ever leave your home.

Monday, Nov 30: ML 41 tables, Shoe 9
Tuesday, Dec 1: ML 31 tables, Shoe 21

Looks like everyone got the word about the promotions for December.

heard a dealer at the Shoe say that mon (last day of md live's $2000 high hand promo) that there were only 4 tables active when the 11pm shift came in. (shoe had no promos that day.)
he said 7 of those dealers were sent home.

I thought it would have been nice for mgmt to call and tell them not to come in?

don't take the train if you want to save money. the cheapest way without wasting a ton of time is:

greyhound from ac to baltimore ~$30
uber from the greyhound station to md live ~$20

and the baltimore greyhound station is literally right next to the horseshoe so you can stop there too and check out that room on your way there or back

i'm also sensing that you may never have signed up for uber before, so with a quick google search i'm sure you can find a discount code that will make your ride free or nearly free. lyft may also be an option in baltimore now but i can't confirm that

With MGM about to arrive, I'm trying to compare the M-Life rewards program with Horseshoe's Total Rewards and Md Live's Rewards program at Diamond/Platinum level.

To me, the only useful things from Total Rewards:
- free food in diamond room fri + sat nites -> Hopefully better food starting April 1 when all those people that got Diamond at 1/2 price (7500 points) the year Horseshoe opened (2014) drops off
- $100 annual food comp
- monthly gifts (or get $20 - $30 free slot play instead -> $240 - $360 fsp a year)
-Easier to make Diamond solely from poker -> 300hrs
- 20% off NCL cruises

Md Live:
-free cruise (but it's been downgraded to 1 cruise/year instead of 2)
-$500 streak bonus x # of years you've been at that card level
ie: 3years platinum = $500 x 3 = $1500 for 2016

-500hrs poker needed to make Platinum

...
You also get comp dollars at different rates. For instance, at ML for Platinum, you get $1.50/hour in comps. If you are playing 500 hours, that's $750 in food comps. I'm not sure exactly what you get from Horseshoe.

There are also seemingly random free play you get from both places. Occasionally there will be some "Platinum" free play day at ML, and I also get emails from Horseshoe offering me free match play. That has some value, although it is difficult to quantify.

I can't find an equivalent web page for Horseshoe, but here is a list of benefits for various ML cards: https://www.marylandlivecasino.com/l...card-benefits/

Harrah's Philadelphia is a neighborhood with nothing but empty stores, abandoned lots, and a prison. Other than that all good.

And Maryland Live. It's off 295 which parallels 95 between DC and Baltimore.

MDL is not between Baltimore and NYC, which must be why the other guy didn't mention it.

If there was a Maryland area HORSE or mixed game club, perhaps we could arrange times places and limits (I guess Live or Horseshoe) for the requisite number of people to show up.

The problem now is that the 6-12 OE goes pretty regular on Saturday. I end up signing up for OE and Horse and mixed at whatever limits they have on Bravo.

I'd rather play the whole HORSE (or as much of the whole animal as possible) and I'd rather play as high as 15/30 ... I am sure others feel similar. The problem is 6/12 OE beats 4/8 holdem or O8 and I end up there because it tends to go.

If there was an MD HORSE Facebook Group or the like and we could coordinate (I know this is a tall order and probably quixotic) something like 9 of us are going to show up at Live by 2pm Saturday to play 10-20 HORSE and people actually showed up and made that game their top priority for the day, we might be happier. If we all had each other's # and email we could harass and shame those who fail to live up to their commitment.

I know .... ain't gonna happen. But I can dream. If not, no biggie, I make more money at $1/2 even though it lacks entertainment value most of the time.
