How are you checking this? When I log in, the entire calendar for two months just shows sold out?

If you're not eligible for comp, it'll say sold out. I know because it said sold out for me before I went to vegas. When I came back, it said comp for the rest of the year.

I just love Caesars . . . 22,000 tier points so far this year, and I can't get a Wednesday night at the Sheraton!

Earned how though? If it was poker or a similar grind (i.e. over a ton of visits) your ADT is going to be low and not make you eligible for the comp. Remember most comps are based on daily averages not totals.

Nah. I work full time, so not through grinding. Only have about 100 hours of live poker this year, and most of that was at MDL/Del Park. At Caesars, it has all been, basically, through VP in AC / Vegas . . . My ADP is not anything special . . . I usually hit between 500 and 1000 tier points a day during visits to AC / Vegas . . . But that's still a decent amount of coin-in.... Good enough to get comped weeks in any of the vegas casinos, and usually free Fridays and comped / heavily discounted Saturdays in AC.

I am, curious, however, what having the Shoe nearby will do to my rates in Vegas/AC. Because now, unlike in the past, I will have many trips that are just 4-5 hours of poker . . . (last Friday, my first trip, I got about 400 credits playing some VP before I hit the poker room, but that will not always happen).

Hopefully, Caesars is smart enough to realize that I will still be giving them a decent amount of coin-in when I fly out to vegas or drive up to AC (as in the past). In other words, I hope I'm not punished for playing in Baltimore.

All - I'm moving from a poker Mecca to the south Baltimore area. What's the best community to live in for 28 y/o single dude who occasionally wants to play cards? I would rather not spend more than $1500 on rent. Will probably be in the area Dec 1.

What kind of stakes are at the Maryland Live Hanover location...how many tables...games et cetera on weekends? I'm a small stakes 1/3 2/5 type.

Anyone live at either the residences or palisades near Maryland Live? Looking for insight

If you want to play cards "occasionally" and are 28, I couldn't think of a worse place to live than Hanover. Kinda depends on what you want to do for fun, where you work, all that stuff.

Well, play a few times a week. The commute from Hanover to work would only be 20 minutes. What's so bad about the area? The places I mention above are maybe five minutes from the casino. The only other things I do for fun are golf, the gym, and racquetball.

Well, I suppose if you're not a fan of bars, nightlife, women, etc, it's fine. Might want to confirm 20 minute commute though. DC in rush hour is about an hour or more from Hanover.

If I wanted to be central to MD Live where would you recommend? My commute home from work will be northerly and from south of the casino. At the very least I would like it to be on my route home so I can stop in and play during the week without any or much extra driving. That's why the two places are listed above, both right near the casino and pretty nice for an apartment

East Columbia or South Ellicott City would be good choices or Severn/Odenton

I imagine you are already in the area. The correct answer is as close to the water as possible, preferably as close to Annapolis as possible. Then start learning to sail by crewing as often as possible. Work is over rated.

If you want to know how and where to get started, I will be happy to give details.

Have any of you guys received live coaching?

No. I'm a purely recreational player and I don't play big enough or often enough to make it worthwhile money-wise. The highest I play is 2/5 NL, 2/2 PL, and 20/40 L.

If you're a professional or semi-professional and you think it might be worth your while, check the Coaching forum and ask questions there.

Hi guys, I'm an early 20's single male looking to relocate to the Hanover/Baltimore area to grind full time at MD Live (and the Horseshoe on occasion). Looking for input on potential neighborhoods to live in. Here are my priorities, in order:

-Affordability. I don't need a flashy or fancy apartment. My ideal monthly rent would be between $700-1200

-Quality of the neighborhood is a close second. I want to avoid living in an impoverished, crime-ridden neighborhood at all costs. I'm fortunate to be able to afford not to live in an area that I have to worry about my safety and security. I want a neighborhood I can walk around in, one with a nice gym close by, and ideally, a Whole Foods or similar kind of organic market nearby. Somewhere I can get fresh veggies and quality meats every couple of days.

-Proximity to Maryland Live. This is the least important. I'm more than okay living in one of the neighborhoods in Baltimore, so long as my commute to Live is less than 30 minutes.

If I can't find a nice, affordable apartment in a low-crime area, I may seriously consider getting a place at the Palisades. The cheapest apartments there are like $1500-1600, which is almost twice as much as I would ideally spend, but they appear super nice, and like I said, I'm not gonna compromise my safety to save a few hundred per month.

Any advice on this matter would be awesome, even if it's just name-dropping a couple of neighborhoods I should look into. If anybody has moved to the area, please share your experiences.

I disagree. I think that MGM will have a room similar in size to the Horseshoe. I also think that anyone between Baltimore and DC will not drive past MDL to get to MGM. Of course MDL will lose a little market share, but I don't expect specialty games like PLO, O8, and the bigger LHE games to be affected.

I agree with Rapini. After the MGM opens, MDL might have 40 tables going on a Saturday night rather than 50. It will still be the busiest poker room in the area. The Baltimore/Washington area is the home to a huge number of poker players with money.

Either way, I live in a pretty small market right now, and I'm ready to move somewhere I can play 2/5 and 5/10 on a daily basis, so if any of you native Marylanders have any neighborhoods you think I should consider, let me know!

Any regular 1-3 players or 2-5 players looking to start a chat/meeting group to discuss hands/improve?

I play 1-3 and if you're a regular, you probably would know me if you saw me. (I'm at Horseshoe 1-3 times a week.) Only play 1-3 now but looking to move up to 2-5 on Fridays and Saturdays once I increase my bankroll a little more.

(please PM me if interested)

You can get a pretty nice place in the safe and active neighborhoods in Baltimore for that price. I would recommend looking at Federal Hill, Canton, Fells Point, Locust Point. I've dpent a lot of time in Federal Hill and it has pretty much everything you listed. Real nice gym (Merritt, and a couple smaller ones), Cross Street Market for farmer's type food, Harris Teeter which is a pretty nice grocery store. It's walking distance to Camden Yards and Ravens Stadium. The highway is right here and you're about a 5 dollar cab to the the horseshoe and ~20 mins to mdlive. PM if you have any other questions. I don't check this thread often.
