As it should be. Really, it's not much different strategy wise. Make some adjustments and have fun.

It’s not a marketing exec making the decision; they’ll spread what the players want.

And why would the players want this? I think you answered your own question. They don’t want people like you bringing your online experience to the game.

It's incredibly different. 5 card is pure cancer.

I'm guessing in more quantitative terms, this means 5 card raises the variance substantially? Which I suppose provides the explanation for why the demand for this game is higher than 4-card.

I, too, preferred the 4-card as I felt like there was more decision making on the later streets. In my limited observation, the successful 5-card player at MDL will:
1) See lots of cheap flops (<10BB)
2) Jam with > ~30% equity (wraps+sets, etc.)

You will nearly always be called - so have a big bankroll ready.

Is this a better "poker" game? Not sure, but it can probably be fun if you have the bankroll tolerance and patience. I seem to have neither, so I'm a relatively tight fish. In 4-card, I'd feel like I could tell if I played well (good or bad result.) In 5-card, I almost always feel like I played poorly or have no idea, and I either got lucky or I didn't!

I suspect that if enough people from these boards banded together, you could get a 4-card game going 1 night a week. And you'd promptly stop playing because it would be the nittiest, most boring game in the joint. (We tried some months back with a 1-1 PLO starter game - lasted a few weeks and was good due to the low stakes, but fizzled anyway. For the record, Mike at MDL fully supported spreading this as we asked.)

Maryland voters close loophole in casino funding for education (2018):
https://wamu.org/story/18/10/17/deca...money-schools/
https://ballotpedia.org/Maryland_Que...mendment_(2018)

Bost says that since 2011, when the casinos started producing revenue for the state, close to $3 billion flowed into the state’s Education Trust Fund. But overall spending for schools hasn’t increased by that amount.

What would happen, say school advocates, is that casino money would supplant school funding, instead of supplement it. So while casino revenues may have gone to the state’s schools, at the same time, money that once went to pay for schools was redirected to other projects and needs.

i knew casino funding towards education was going to be a shell game, just like in other states.
it just surprised me that something was done about it.

and wow, noone posted in this thread since 2019?

Dedicating fungible assets is always a shell game. Cash is the ultimate fungible asset

flying into Baltimore midnight'ish on Wednesday night, on west coast time. Is there one room that is a better mid-week late night option? Looking for 1/2-2/5 PLO, PLO8, BigO...1/2,2/5 NLH...10/20'ish limit 08 or HoldEm. Also, good Sunday option for any of the Omaha games/double board games. Thanks.

Live for midweek and it’s like ten minutes from BWI. The five card plo is good there (no four card available in md these days except rarely). If you have a car mgm is worth checking out, about 50 minute or so drive. But on sundays they have a big tournament so get there very early to get a seat (by 9 am).

What a joke. Did anyone really believe that casino revenues would really go to education? Did anyone even care?

From the land of made up statistics I'd say that of people who votes FOR casinos
- 60% wanted to go gamble close to home
- 39% don't gamble but are happy if their neighbors gambling get tax revenue for their state
- <1% are opposed to gambling in principle but did it "for the children"

And then the complete and utter surprise by an organization that pretty much exists to lobby for more education funding discovering that the revenue doesn't really go to schools and their unexpected move of lobbying for more education funding.

Havent played cards since 2016 and really would like to start again.

I know the Spring series tourneys just happened, but I was wondering if Live! does other series through out the year?
