Great session of $1/2 here today. Played 2pm-8pm made $350. During my session they called my name for some promotion which gave me the chance to win up to $500 by picking a cup. I ended up winning $30 on my players card that I had to use for slot machines. I hate slots and expected to dump the $30 pretty quickly but hit $260 on a spin lol cashed that **** out for a total profit of $610 today =). Will be back next weekend.

Last time I was there, they claimed to spread a 5-10 Limit Holdem game on Friday nights. Can anyone confirm this is still the case or if they ever spread bigger than 2-4 Limit games at all?

Just visited Mardi Gras for the first time this past Tuesday. Had 10+ tables going with two PLO going at 4pm.

I played the new "speed" tables for about 5 hours. There seemed to be a little confusion among the dealers about exactly how they were supposed to work. The room manager asked me when I went to cash out, and I told him that some of the dealers were saying that it wasn't about them going fast, just the players who have 10 seconds to act. Of course that was mostly the slower dealers who were saying that.

The game moved a lot faster than a normal 1/2 game because the players were all paying attention. Nobody had to be asked more than once to post their blinds and they knew when the action was on them. One old man wanted to sit at the game and they wouldn't let him because they knew he played very slowly and they sat him at a regular 1/2 game. When we had a fast dealer the hands came and were played very quickly, in one 30 minute down, we saw 35 hands, and most of them had a flop. Even the slow dealer got out more hands because nobody had to be prompted for their action or blinds.

Overall, I really enjoyed the experience. It's unusual to play so many hands so quickly in a live setting.

They compensate for the increased rake+drop by giving high hand winners $300 instead of $100. Only came into play once while I was there. But there was a definite increase in the $$ coming off the table

For the time limit, if you were moving too slow the dealer counted it out. Only saw this happen a couple of times, once a guy was talking to his friend and one of the other players told him before the dealer finished counting. I understood that they were supposed to kill your hand, but nobody got to that point. We did have one guy sit down who started counting everybody the moment action got to them, but he was waiting for his 5/10 table to open, so he only got to do it for a round. Otherwise it wasn't an issue, when the action got to you, you were expected to be paying attention and pretty much everybody was.

As for fish- it had the usual mix I've found on most 1/2 tables, with possibly a few more loose players, many of whom seemed to be Canadian retirees. One 5 hour session probably doesn't mean much. Maybe a regular could better answer this.

There's many fish and many deep pocket very loose players. Problem is that you start building ur roll and then one of said deep fish will suck out and take all ur chips. It so annoying I notice there.
So hard to ur anyone on ranges etc. I hardy ever play there now.

It's commonly called collusion. And there is a lot of it in that room.

I quietly "complained" to floor supervisors, shift boss, etc. They told me they would have surveillance look into it.

I stopped going there regularly. Returned after a month, same players, same cheating. (IMHO) I stopped playing there completely.

Went recently (after not playing for several months there) to clear out my points, and the same players were still there.

Guessing it's OK to collude if you spend enough hours in the room.

Can someone tell me what the min/max buy ins are for 1-2 and 2-5, also how is the crowd on Wednesdays daytime early evening? Coming into town and figuring out where to play..

How is that collusion? The definition of poker collusion is behavior outside of the rules that is intended to give one or more players an advantage.

If you can explain how two players who are heads up is intended to give you a disadvantage i'd be interested to hear it. Husband/wife checking hand down while chuckling and thinking, "Boy, we really put the screws to pokerkoo this time?"

Now you could speak of discreet hand signals, chip placement, and pot-building among colluding players while others are in the hand then yes the purpose is certainly intended to give the colluding players an advantage. Two players heads up not firing into each other is commonplace in every poker room wherever you go.

Just spent the week down there. Ended up staying right down the street from the Gras.

1-2 is 60-300. There was no 2-5 games running the entire week i was there. They did have 5-5 PLO daily and it amped up to 5-10 about 3 times later into the night. I played the 1-2 a few times when waiting for the 5-5. The 1-2 was ok but nothing special.

If you want 2-5, you better off going up the road just a mile to Gulfstream or driving longer to the Hard Rock or Isle if possible. Personally, I'd recommend the Gulfstream for both 1-2 and 2-5. Buyins for 1-2 at Gulf is 60-200. 2-5 is 200-500 unless its a deep stack which has a 1K max.

I've played Gulfstream and the Rock there and had good experiences so maybe I'll stick to them. 2-5 here in Tampa at HR where I play is $200-1000 so generally I am a bit under rolled and 1-2 is $40-100 which just becomes a ridiculous game of press your luck crossed with bingo, so it will be nice to get to some decent structures..

I play here often.

The good:

They have the best comps around. $1.50 per hour. They have the best buffet deal in town, every Saturday, Prime Rib, Crab legs, etc, $21.50.

You can usually find a decent 1-2 game at night. You may have to table change a bit.

The bad:

As mentioned above many players have this weird rule. They will always check it down heads up. They will ask before the flop comes out and there is no rule against this.

For the most part the dealers are OK by Florida standards. My big issue is that last night, I noticed 2 not saying Thank You for their tokes. This is horrible IMO

How is the $5/$5 PLO action? How often do they spread it? Is it tough to get a seat? I'm heading down this way FRi-Sun in a few weeks, looking for a $5/$5 PLO game, staying in Pompano, but the isle doesn't seem to spread PLO. Most reviews I have read say the Gras is a dump. Should I just hit the Hard Rock?

6/12 limit is a joke. You get the same degenerates limping and calling every street every hand every day.

10/20 the skill level goes up but there are only a very few solid pros.
