Teddy,

Unfortunately I can't get out of work to play that early. I am very interested in expanding my game to those mixed limit games but I just can't do it mid day. I would love to get in a regular Tuesday or Wednesday night game (Thursday-Sunday I try to grind higher nl games when there are more fish around) . I think if we could get 5 or 6 guys to start it and play it regularly word might get around and we might be able to attract more people. I fully expect to be the fish in these games but don't care. Just want to play something different be social and relaxed at a table for a change.

I have no problem giving Wil my business as he has been the most open to feedback of any manager I have talked to or seen responding to posts. I'm interested to hear how the tourney goes, and if you do in fact get a game later on Thursday. Either way, keep this thread updated as far as the e-mail list you have and some of your other contacts. I'll be checking back and forth.

Well it is Thursday, lets see how many people go to the HOSE tournament today. It is at 12:30 and only $35.
Hope to see at least 5 tables.

Tuesday night we have our O8 tourney. That may be a good night to set up something as well.

Thanks for the kind words. I appreciate that. My team and I do our best to act the same way in the Poker Room.

Where are you? That's what I want to know. You know I'm usually out of here by noon!

We are giving away $1000 high hands today, but we still were able to get 2 tables and working on a 3rd.

The HOSE tournament was good, lots of people asking when it goes on again so next week look for it.

After the tournament we got a good mix game format going, first we started off with HORSE, then after a few left we played Pineapple, Tahoe, 7/2 triple draw, razz and Stud, $4/8 with a half kill. game ran for about 8 hours before I left and was still going at 1am.

Finally found Wil, he was hanging at our table watching the dealers and made sure everything ran smooth which it did, the dealers were learning the games but picked up quick.

Hope this takes off, it is great to be able to play games other then NLH.

I hope to be playing in this game next week. Hopefully the Pineapple was played "crazy" and hopefully discards were done in turn, not with an entire round of discards between action.

Tahoe is pretty lame if you're playing Pineapple, just my imo. I would also love to see a couple split pot games. If I were making the mix it would be something like T.P.R.E.O.H.A. According to a scrabble helper website, the best acryonem it could come up with is "phorate". The H and A should be played pot limit with 1/2 blinds. So PLHE, PLO, (pot limit crazy pineapple is soooo much fun too. trust me). I dunno I'm sleepy and rambling. I want to game

It was Excellent!!! Suggestions on what I would like to see added or changed:
  • A 7pm starting time (Wil indicated he may ADD a 7pm HOSE tournament to Fridays*)
  • Add Razz to make it HORSE (all of the players that I polled in this tourney wanted Razz, albeit some were not sure how it was played)
  • Allow 4th street double bet on pairs in Stud Hi game
  • Play only 4-8 hands of each game instead of changing at each 20 min level. Many players (me included) of the 23 total got to play only 1-2 rounds of each game before getting knocked out. Example: why should a Stud8 game (being it goes last) be harder to over come if you lose 1 big pot? Playing all the games at (or near) the same level is much better IMHO.
  • Get rid of the antes to the flop games played. Limit games should have no ante on the flop games...

The argument that "once antes are introduced in the stud games so they should remain in the flop games" is hog wash IMHO. If you add blinds to the stud games that would be the same hog wash analogy. Antes in flop games should only be used in no limit or pot limit... Other well known Limit tourneys that use antes in flop games at least give a deepstack over 10k in starting chips.
*Also add a Om8 (that's Omaha High/Low) PLO tourney! How about a Triple Draw 2-7 Tourney! How about any of these mixed games as a Sit and Go (SNG)?

Thanks to Wil and his team for a job well done; allowing us to bring mixed games to SouthEast Florida for the 1st time!!!

Teddy

The game was full after you left Gambit. We added back in Om8 and Stud8 (we took out when we were short handed for a few hours) and played until the 4am close. We also turned 8 hands of each game into 4 hands of each game since we had 8 different games at that point.

When we got to 2-7 TripleDraw (TD) and had a full table, 2 players sat out voluntarily so we had only 6. The floor said, "we can only play TD with 6 or less". But if you keep the discards separate from the burns and muck you can easily play with 8 by going into the discards or even going into the burn cards.

The 9 games played from about 4:30pm until 4am:

H. - Holdem (until about mid evening)
O. - Omaha8
R. - Razz
S. - Stud
E. - Stud8

Triple Draw 2-7
Tahoe
Pineapple

O2. - Omaha (high only last 4 hands)

Teddy
PS - I'll have the rules and guidelines we used in this mixed "Kitchen Sink" cash game in my next post later today!

Here are the guidelines and rules we used in these 9 games we played in our $4/$8 half kill game ~
  1. H. - Holdem
  2. O. - Omaha8
  3. R. - Razz
  4. S. - Stud
  5. E. - Stud8
  6. Triple Draw 2-7
  7. Tahoe
  8. Pineapple
  9. O2. - Omaha Hi
  • 4 or 8 hands of each game: kept track by dealer moving lamer type (other odd colored chips/buttons) from left to right at the START of each hand anytime BEFORE cutting/dealing the deck
  • Half kill activated (Om8 and Stud8): player scoop at $40 or more makes next game $6/$12 half kill
  • Half kill activated (all other none split games): 2 in a row player scoop pots at $20 each pot or more - "leg up/kill" button used - after player getting "leg up" and winning next pot less than $20, player keeps "leg up" button
  • Kill player acts in turn with $6 posting: kill player MUST post even if leaving the game - forgotten kill are always made up on next available
  • Stud type games antes: used the button to keep track of who would post the antes for all players ($.50 each player to be dealt in) round down (i.e. 7 players = $3.50 but post $3) - absent player post gets missed blind button (or "missed ante" button preferably) - only 1 set of antes per hand (i.e. missed ante can post and other player who was going to post will post next available
  • Extra "integrity" buttons used: to keep the integrity between who posted the last antes in an ante game and who got the last dealer button in flop type (sb/bb) game; we gave whomever was going to be the first ante poster or whom was to get the first dealer button upon returning to that type of game a odd colored (we used yellow) lamer type "integrity" chip
  • Stud type games bring in and misc: $2 min (even on a kill pot), $4 or $6 (kill pot) completes - 4 raises 5 bets after completion cap unless head up - dealer does not call possibles (we had 1 dealer call "possible low" on 6th street
  • "What game is it?" plaques for players: We had game plaques so all players can see what game we were on (thanks Wil for getting them made up within minutes of us adding more games ) - plaques were big enough that when we placed all (proper game order with current game on top) in between seats 4 and 5 facing dealer all the players can see what game we were on
  • Min buyin: listed as $80 but we were letting people buyin for $60 which is 10x the sb of a half kill pot
  • 4 raises 5 bets unless head up

Teddy
PS - Part II coming soon (other games like Triple Draw and etc. guidelines & rules up next.

Con't -- Here are the guidelines and rules we used in these 9 games we played in our $4/$8 half kill game ~
  1. H. - Holdem
  2. O. - Omaha8
  3. R. - Razz
  4. S. - Stud
  5. E. - Stud8
  6. Triple Draw 2-7
  7. Tahoe
  8. Pineapple
  9. O2. - Omaha Hi
  • TripleDraw 2-7 lowball (TD): When we got to 2-7 TripleDraw (TD) and had a full table (8 players), 2 players sat out voluntarily so we had only 6. The floor said, "we can only play TD with 6 or less". But if you keep the discards separate from the burns and muck you can play with 7 or 8 by going into the discards or even going into the burn cards.
    How we played it
The best possible hand is (2,3,4,5,7 no flush). Aces, flushes or str8 are ng in this game. SB and BB posts and betting is the same as holdem. Dealer deals 5 down cards to all players starting in one seat like stud. After 1st betting round (utg acts 1st), dealer burns, you discard (in turn) 0=pat up to 4 cards, another (flop like) betting round, dealer 2nd burn, 2nd betting round ("turn" like from left of button acting 1st), dealer 3rd burn, discard again, and "river" like final betting round.
  • Tahoe: Holdem with 3 cards
    How we played it
The only difference from holdem is you get to use 0, 1 or 2 of the 3 hole cards.
  • Pineapple: Holdem with 3 cards but you discard 1 before flop after 1st betting round.
    How we played it
Plays the same as Holdem after the discard.

LMK if you want me to explain how we would play any of the other games such as Razz, Crazy Pineapple or any others.

Will,
I played in the HOSE on Thursday, we chopped 3 way at 5 pm. The HOSE tournament was great and I will be there on Thursday next week. Please remove the antes on the flop games and 1 round of each games, not 20 minutes rounds. We had a "great" dealer for hold'em, He must have dealt 35/40 hands in 20 minutes, with a 1 or 2 hundred ante plus the blinds, TOO MUCH.

IMO 4-8 hands of each game max on 20 min levels. "1 round" is hard to keep track of since not all tables have the same amount of players. A fixed amount between 4-8 hands for each game sounds about right.

Absolutely on the "no antes" for flop type games. After all, this is a limit tournament. The tournament might go for a few more minutes but the skill factor % is increased and we get to play more hands if we lose 1 big hand. I got knocked out (I think?) on level 8 (that's only 2 rounds of each game, after losing only 1 huge pot previously. The antes and blinds on the same flop games killed my short stack.

Suggestions (as I posted above the way we played the cash mixed games). Red indicates further new tournament suggestions -

Since dealers forget to move game marker representing how many of current game we played & players keep asking "how many left of this game?" - Make up plaques with just numbers on it so players can see how many hands are left for each game. Place plaques in the center between seats 4 and 5 facing dealer and have players in those 2 seats admin each change, one less headache for dealers.
  • Stud type games: dealer does not call possibles (we had 1 dealer call "possible low" on 6th street )

We had that dealer 3+ times in the cash game, excellent dealer besides being fast he new all the games perfectly. Unfortunately (or fortunately for the short stacks), I did not get him in the tournament so our table was at only 10-20 hands per hour.

Not enough people 2 days ago and not enough last night.

Maybe Wil, you can start promotion(s) and take $1 "mixed game jackpot" for each $10+ pot to pay for the promotion(s). The promotion can be something like a $10 per day food comp per person (for a certain min amount of play) and/or $1 or higher per hour comp.
