Hi guys,

Just wondering if there is anyone on 2p2 who plays in or around Manchester, so we can impart knowledge and tips on the best places to play.

I play on a fri and sat night down at circus casino in town, takes a while for tables to start (11pm onwards) but when they do, they're generally loaded with short stacked min buy in fish, so churn out decent profits.

Problem is, its only two nights in the week, and I'd love to play most nights

Never tried G Casino yet, so is there anyone out there that would recommend if G is a good place to fish hunt as well? And if theres money to be had apart from the standard Fri/Sat nights?

Regards
Ben

the nearest casino to manchester i been to was circus casino in stoke. was alright there, strange casino though.... can see outside through glass windows, and theres clocks there :S

was alright card room, nothing special from what i could see there though. The only G casino i been to was in coventry, and i had the best time there in a long time...

i was there for the coventry UKIPT, and i really enjoyed it. the casino was by far the best casino ive been to, the dealers were really nice, and the cardroom amnager was on his feet doing something the whole week. i filled out a little form on my last day there saying how epic the cardroom manager had been cos i thought he deserved it. The action there was incredible... lots and lots of fish, and lots of money floating about. although its hard to judge because it was a large festival there at the time... but from what i could tell, its fairly fishy anywya.

if your G casino is anyhting like coventries, its goota be worth a visit.

Hi there. Hope this thread pick us pace! Im a student in manchester, but go play poker quite alot. g casino over in salford is the most skilled i reckon. its more of a dedicated card room with at least 25% decentish regs, with no drunks coming in.
circus on the other is very easy. the tourneys there are super turbo essentially, and people have literally no idea. i don't play them because there just no fun for me, but my 2 friends have great success. its like the +est ev tourny you'll play, online or live. he's won 2 out of 3 times, and my other friend cashes alot, and there are 3-4 guys who also know how to play and cash frequently. (also if you win there's a £500 freeroll for the 5 or so winners, higher quality, but chops etc. make it pretty easy money.)
the cash games are also awesome. because its the casino all the chinese go to (punto banco!!!) its got all those degens, plus its the one all the drunks come in so thats v easy money. there are barely any decent regs there also, and all the degen donks from the tourney come along and piss money away. also seen regs just call when they have the nuts because "she new he wouldn't call a raise," and im pretty sure there was no collusion.
The grosvenor opposite, while softer than the g is not as lucrative as circus, without the tourny donks and degen chinese the table often has a few pretty good players.
Never been to 235, but if your a big player, i've heard the footballers go there and get big semi-private games going, so if you've got the bankroll head on there, me i'll stick to my .50-1 circus games! heading down tonight if your there! Oh plus thursdays and tuesdays get games going, not as soft as weekend but still soft.
Lets get this thread traction!

If you are in Derby, by far and away your best option will be Dusk till Dawn in Nottingham.

Derby and Nottingham are approximately 15 miles apart, although it obviously depends on which part of the city you will be in.

Circus seems to have picked up quite a bit recently (maybe cause the students come back) - I only really go once every two or three weeks mind you.

Le Boeuf, are you the young looking guy who plays and crushes circus most saturday nights with the curly hair?

hey guys, i went uni in preston, and play mainly online but have visited a lot 2 manc for casinos. I don't like circus. Manchester, or "G" is defo the highlight, tournies are OK, friday night is like 15 quid double chance and always gets a 100+ field, the tournies are a bit crapshooty tho unfortunately.
cash is v soft but obv big blinds so need to b able to risk a couple hundred to reeli play well.
salford v similar reeli, good tourni on monday night espesh for students.
I recommend them both and would go a lot more if i didnt live far away.

good to c some other lancastrians on 2+2 tho!

haha elanomcfc i was the guy with aces. my friend is the one who crushes tourneys. sorry bout the semi slowroll.... i thought you were attempting to slowroll me and wasn't in the mood for that. you repped the q pretty good, but as i remember there wasn't much left and its too easy to rep the q there, especially based on how most of them play just bluffing massively on any scare card. also i thought you were super baked so.... sorry mate! do come again though its a good game! ended up 300 by the end. you missed out on some of the drunkest irish guys in history. halloween moneys!!!!

Elano - Le Boeuf and I played in that game on saturday night. I was the young looking guy at the end of the table, the end nearest the casino floor.

Plenty of options for low stakes live cash in Manchester:

Lots of action at the G on Bury New Road, good value tourneys, some with 100+ runners, and plenty of cash action. Usually a few tables of £1-£1, at least one £1-£2, and sometimes up to £5-£10 I believe... they also spread plo but I dunno how often that runs (probably not often).

Never been to 235 but I believe there is a very healthy, action packed £1-£2 game with a £5 cap on the rake. As Le Boeuf said, this is also the home of the footballers big game.

The Grosvener by the Palace has a £1-£1 game every night from 6pm, and now has a tourney on monday and tuesday but not too many runners...

Circus is my regular spot with the semi-regular £0.5-£1 game and small buy in crapshoots. Has been pretty lucrative for me recently.

The Grosvener in Chinatown is pretty good if you like your games fast and loose I have heard.

What I really want to find though is an at least semi-regular plo game ANYWHERE in Manchester. Anyone have any ideas?

G is ok. Its more poker orientated than other casinos so youll get people going there solely for poker and not so much the people stumbling on to a table after playing roulette or w/e. That said, whilst there are some 'regs' they are all laughably bad. Even the 200NL game (which they refer to as the 'big game' lolz) only has 1 or 2 players I actually respect. The fun thing about G is when the guy thats sat on your 1/1 table has made like £30 all night and I know is pretty terrible and the dealer and everyone on the table is trying to convince me he is a pro.

Circus is the one at the bottom of portland street right? I went in there once but unfortunately no games were running. I have heard its good though. Is it this casino or 235 that has a rake free table in the middle of the pit?

Grosvenor on Whitworth street isnt awful. It sucks because sometimes you have to wait ages for a table, but the general standard is lower than G, especially with the deeper stacked players. Unfortunately though, a lot of the people who buy in for 20BB in this place tend to be students and play really nitty.

I avoid Grosvenor in Salford (Regent Road/the one with a KFC and McDs on the same 'complex'). There were some allegations of mechanics working there in the self deal tourneys and some of the hands Ive played have been a little too lol. Oh, to qualify that statement, Ive played like 3M hands of internet poker in like the last 5 years, so Im not a standard rigtard. They also rarely have cash games going from what I remember and the tourneys are standard 1k/2k blinds with 3k chip affairs.

I work at a casino in Nottingham and play Sheffield and Birmingham mainly, as far as poker in nottingham go's the cash game in Gala is fairly soft with only 1/2 decent regs, and the alea is also pretty soft although they are closing the cardroom in december.

There is some really good value comps at the G casino in sheffield with large fields. Wednesday is a £20 rebuy with £2k added, normally makes £10 and on sunday a £50 rebuy which makes over £15k most weeks.

Anyone know of a low stakes plo game? I have heard there is a 2-2 game at G Bolton, but really I'm after a game in central Manchester.

I was living in Manchester until august and was a semi-reg at the G, It has a much larger pool of regs than the Grovesnor in town or circus. That being said it is by far the most profitable one to play at due to the degen whales that spend most of their day at the dog tracks then play roulette/poker in the evenings.
235 was starting to pick up quite a lot of action by the end of august. As it's situated in town you get a lot of amateur/drunks coming in and the weekend games can be a goldmine.
235 also was occasionally running a 1-2 plo game but had was usually made up of G regs having fun before a night out and almost every pot was over £100 preflop.
The grovesnor on whitworth street is a 50p-1 game and has a mix of fish and vaguely semi competant players. Very easy game to make a profit but will take a while. I liked playing here as a pre drinking venue before going on a night out as it's very close to most of the student clubs and about £2.50 a pint.

anyone know where the biggest NL cash games are in manchester? is 1/2 the highest everywhere here?

Yep 1-2 is pretty much as high as it goes. Occasional 2-5 at G but thats refered to as the 'big game'.
I got a letter through the post inviting me to a 2-5 £1000 minimum sit down that will cycle round all the grovesnor and g casinos in the north west visiting one per month, might of been invitation only. Have a word with the cardroom manager at the G.

Are there many cash games running anywhere other than the G?

Last few times I've had a look in 235 there were poker tables but not one person was sat?!

hey guys been playing 1 2 in lpool for around 2 months now but i hear good things about manchester regarding 1 2 so im gona head down next weekend.
A couple of people said to me the G was the "best" place to go due to the high amount of tables (he said 7-8 tables running at weekends) would like to know if all this sounds correct or is circus like someone mentioned a better place to start off?

Finally i saw on the g's website they run 2-3 pm tournys are these worth it as i might as well make a day of it tbh!

Hey guys.
I just arrived in Manchester yesterday and am looking for good cash games.
Got plenty of time to kill so I really am looking for games which start from the early afternoon 11am~ to late evening.

Already called the Grosnover, gentin and the 235 local casinos.

The action only starts at around 7pm.

I usually play 5/5€ in my home casino. However the common stakes in Manchester are 0,50/1,00 and 1/2 GBP.

Can anyone tell me anything about the games, traffic and the action? Are there many shallow stacks ? Do I have to reserve a seat to get into the games? Any PLO games?

Thank in advance!

I am a new member, so hopefully this is the best place to post.

Here is the thing:

I have managed to get into a private game at the G: Casino in Didsbury, the game is 4,5 or 6 card Omaha Hi and is dealer dealt, most of the time the game is played 7-8 handed. The blinds are 2/5 with a minimum buy in of £200 and the maximum buy in is uncapped. The game comprises of 3 very good players and 4 fish, who are total calling stations.

The game is wild and there are often 2 to 3 live straddles, which means that there is significant dead money in the pot pre-flop and it will cost you between £50-£200 to see a flop.

The average pot size is around £1200-£2000. £4000 pots are not uncommon. The action is multi-way between 4 or more players when the river is dealt.

I am looking for someone to take 50% of my action in this game, as my bankroll stands at around 35k and I consider myself under-rolled for this game, but the game is just to good in not to play and there is nothing to be gained by playing a short stack.

Its a dream game, but one in which I dont want to go broke, as my bankroll currently stands at around £30k.

I can get a number of well respected regulars to vouch for me if required.
