Anyone play the 1pm Sat tourney lately? I'm curious how many runners they've been getting. Thanks much!

I been playing here for over the last week they dont run 2/5 ever and the 1/2 isnt like insanly big but I think it is the softest 1/2 game in the chicago land area of casinos. I knw all 1/2s are easy to bet but my win rate at the horseshoe for 1/2 was a little under 17 dollars. The 9 sessions I have played at majestic I have only booked 2 losing sessions. $210 and $31 dollars. And my 7 winning sessions have all been over $200 and 2 of then over $500. Is there any regs that post on 2 2

I stop by there every once in a while to donk around. Strictly low stakes but compared to the other two NWI/SWM strictly low stakes poker casinos at least their low stakes games tend to run except for the absolute deadest hours. Can't say that about Blue Chip or 4 Winds (what a waste). You've also got the $5 dice games with 20X's and goodish blackjack rules if you'll bet at least a quarter a hand. If you like to keep the Shoe seperate as your poker casino Magestic can be a neat place to take an off day and mess around.

ETA - They actually do seem to try to compete as well. I'm always getting stuff about various poker promotions and for as little as I donk around on the tables they still send me a nice chunk of cash coupons now and then. If 1/2 was my game I'd probably choose them over the Shoe.

I'm guessing it will be a pretty big field. They gave me a seat for winning a bounty tournament back in September, so I'm guessing they've juiced it up with a lot of free money.

Bad beat is about 88K. Last night (Tuesday), four full tables of 1/2 up around 8:30 pm. Finally, Majestic Star has new, big screen HD tv monitors, with EXCELLENT picture quality. Took them ten years to straighten out the tv situation.

I was thinking about heading up to the Star but I haven't been there in ages. Anyone been there lately? What's the action like on a saturday evening. I'm mostly interested in their 1/1 game due to lack of funds. Is it worth the trip?

I don't think they have 1/1 anymore. Last time I was there was at the end of January. The bad beat hit around that time for around 90k. Saturday night was still pretty packed. A bunch of 1/2 games going on and I think I saw an interest for 1/3. I know there was an O8 limit game and maybe another limit game, too. There are usually a bunch of people that bust in the 7pm tourney that play cash games too.

Friday and Saturday nights are probably the only "juicey" days to go down there for 1/2. Probably just better to go to the Horseshoe depending on where you live.

If they ever approve moving that joint, it will be a gold mine, for the corporation and City of Gary.

I get there at like 1am, tell the floor I want to play the 5/10 o8. Proceeds to tell me the game just broke. The bad beat just hit on the table. 12k bad beat hit and 500$ table share. I was like 10 mins late.

Yep it seems unusual to me too. Ended playing 1/2 for small profit. The table was nothing short of an action table. Had a guy in evey pot w 2k in front of him. I never was able to get a part of not tho. Been to the star twice and both times were very good.

Sorry about that, man. When they finally brought down our checks, everyone hightailed it to the cage. But YAY me for getting a free $500 just for watching this hand...
UTG raises to $10, 4 callers...
FLOP: T J 5
UTG bets $5 and is called in two spots.
TURN: J
UTG checks, MP checks, LP checks.
RIVER: 9
UTG bets $10, MP raises to $20, LP folds, UTG re-raises to $30, MP 4-bets to $40...
UTG suddenly leans forward and announces, "I'm going to show you how smart I am and just call because I think we just hit the bad beat, guys."
UTG calls and shows A J J 7
MP shows A 4 8 Q
Cheers and fist-bumps abound as the dealer calls the floor to verify. It took a good 2 hours to get paid, the first ~30 minutes of that saw no action as the dealer had to wait for instructions on what exactly to do, including spreading and ordering the remaining cards from the stub and the muck for the cameras to see, verifying that the deck wasn't fouled in any way.

Stud bad beat hit last night for >$21K when a spade straight flush to the ten >>> quad jacks. From what I was told, the jackpot winner was a reg who "deserved" that pot.
Stud8 ran for about an hour before breaking apart as folks returned to the Omaha table.
