I'm assuming some of the confusion is over the currency exchange.
1 USD = 7.75 HKD
But I guess a 200 HKD rake is still $25 USD and 10K/20K HKD is like $1,300/$2,600 USD

been here in macau for a few days just grinding the 25/50 games at the wynn. Might take a shot at the 50/100 or 100/200 if the games are good.

Games seem to be pretty nitty but you can just grind them down the whole night. Lots of limp folding etc. the 25/50 regs are pretty bad in general and there are a few really immature korean players around who are pretty annoying and have some etiquette issues. Played with a couple of them last night and they are just plain rude and loud. Standard.

ps : apparently softplaying against your mates is allowed here at the wynn.

Hey. I'm going to Macau next tue to grind for a few weeks, and there happens to be the APT Macau at the same time, and cos I'm a livetourney noob, I have some questions: how early can u register for the side events? I mean, like heads-up survival sounds quite tempting, but theres a playercap, so can u register like a week beforehand? And if you have any idea of the structure of the standard freezeouts I'd like to hear, if it's a total crapshoot I quss it's better to just grind the 10/20..

And how are the games this time of the year? Last time I was there 6 months ago, I only played at Lisboa and Wynn and I noticed the games were alot softer at Lisboa. More grinders from HK at Wynn.. Not that the games at Wynn werent good, but free beer is free beer ^^

cya there

There's a contingent of Korean grinders here in Macau that basically live here full time. I've never seen them be anything but nice and well mannered.

please don't take it the wrong way. I'm not saying that koreans are rude and impolite in general, jz a couple of kids who been watching too much tv poker. Just that i think that in asian culture those sort of behavior is not common imo.

The antics don't really bother me so much, what irritates me most some of the players blatantly pick their nose and spit on the casino carpet. WTF?

For people that live there etc.

Do you think the games are better/worse during tourney series. I've been to macau twice usually during weekdays and found the games pretty good. Im planning on going in october for the next macau poker cup, are the games harder or softer then? Ill be playing 10/20, 25/50.

During the Macau Poker Cup games seem to be about the same. When the tournament's going on, there are more games at GL, but that's about it

Since April it has averaged 42 players, with a low of 33 and a high of 54. It runs every weekend except when the Macau Poker Cup events are on.

Starworld is apparently closed, but a new room opened up this week at another Macau casino. The casino is a Chinese name, the initials are LKF or something. It's behind the Waldo and across the street from Macau Polytechnic University, on the 1st floor.

It's a nice clean room, we'll see if they can keep regular games going since it's a bit off the beaten path.

Anyone been to the new place yet?
Im not trying to put them down, but I doubt they will suceed from what I have read about their set-up. Similar to GW and Starworlds, nice comfy poker room with etc etc etc.
When will these operators learn, any success of a poker room depends on the number of new players playing the game there. I much prefer sitting on a stool if it means I will play against 7 other beginners. Anyway, I hope I am wrong.
I think a really good spot to open a poker room would be at The Sands, plenty of big mainland whales.

Sounds like good news. But didn't we also heard the news many months ago MGM was going to open a room too? What happened?
Don't hold you breath.

Yea not really sure what happened at MGM in the end, they are having a revamp of their opperation again so will have to wait and see what happens. The guy that put forward the submission at Venetian (my brother in-law) has been shipped off to Singapore so it has lost momentum before it even got revved up!

So yes, no holding of the breath.

I've been back in Macau for a couple of days now. Hot and humid with a mini-typhoon yesterday!

My previous workmates at MGM said that they had been trying to arrange a deal with an online company but things didn't work out. As all the foreigners are being sacked from the casino companys, there's not much of a push for poker - the local staff think poker players are too much trouble.
Can't really see Venetian putting in poker either. But who knows, they do have about a million square feet to spare.

I went to Grand Lisboa yesterday, much the same as before. It looks like all the dealers are new, new uniforms and slow. Still got a nice 3 hour session in and finished up a couple of buy-ins. Love the Lisboa fish.
Took my roll to Wynn's. Also much the same except with a couple more tables now. No sign of the 'big game' mentioned in this thread. When talking about it, a random told me that the players had moved it to Grand Lisboa (but I didn't see anything like that when I was there). Sent back about half my winnings playing with some local regs who are somewhat rocklike and nitty. Saw a nice argument between a couple of chinese guys - I don't understand what was going on but gee, I enjoy watching people argue in other languages. Had a go at the slots on my way out and got back to even pretty quick, when will I learn.
Will go looking for the new room tomorrow. I had a bit of a look while out today but I couldn't find it. Word is that they've taken on quite a few experienced staff from the other rooms so at least the dealers will have some idea, or so I hope
