hey guys, just wondering with the macau poker cup tourney coming up in July, how the action is gonna be in the cash games. I played at the wynn a couple of weeks ago on a weekend and the action was good.

I am hoping there would be a lot of rich businessman in town during the tourneys and that they go straight to the cash game tables after they bust. Although the tourneys aren't gonna be hosted in the Wynn, do you guys think there would be fishy 25/50 and 50/100 or higher games running that weekend? If so, which casino?

Can you guys tell me what the lowest stakes are in the poker rooms in Macau? I live in Guam and am planning to go to Macau for a week or so in August.

I'm still a novice and play mostly low stakes fixed limit hold'em. From what I understand, there isn't any FL action in Macau, so if NL is it I'll still try my hand at low stakes NL. That's all I could find in the P.I. too and I still had fun, but I'm much more profitable at FL.

Anyone have any recent info on low stakes FL or NL games at PokerStars Macau or the Wynn or wherever? If all they have in mid- or high-limit games i'll just have to save up for a ticket back to Nevada instead.

Sorry if this has already been answered, couldn't find it going through the pages ofthis post.

The lowest stakes at $10/$20 HK$, thats equivalent to 1/2 US$.
I would not worry about the stakes, the games here are so juicy you will make you plane ticket within the first hour at the tables.

Saw Phil Laak at the Wynn last week playing 200/400.

Played 10/25 at the wynn and 10/20 at the Grand Lisboa. Games are seriously amazing. 5 people limp every pot and call most raises. No one knows how to fold a hand. I also saw the flop turn and river go check check twice on an A high board when one of the guy's was holding AK and the other AJ/A10.

Depends on the day. Mondays thru Wednesday Bo's usually at the Golden Dragon, then he moves to Rio from Wed-Fri. Saturday he moves to Emporer and Sunday's his day off but he's usually free-lancing in the basement of the old Lisboa.

Last time I'm on the button in a 25/50 game. Action limps to me and I limp as well since I don't have much of a hand. SB pumps it up to HKD$550 and everyone but me calls. How is this even possible?

Squibz and Quorthon,
Thanks for your replies. Was looking for a place to browse through if I get bored in Macau when I visit for a day or two. Although may eventually need to top up the chip set I do have if I don't end up buying a new one. Appreciate the info.

Hey guys Im going to be staying in Macau from July 2nd till the 5th. From what I read the Wynn has the softest 10-20 game? Also are there ever any problems with players talking in their native language or does the dealer stop that? Is it best to play a very NIT strategy? Any other 2+2 players going to be there around this time?

From what I've seen of Macau recently, Lisboa has the best 10/20 games (Wynn actually has 10/25). I think that 10/25 is a worse game for a few reasons which I've already mentioned and thus wont mention again.

I think both rooms have pretty soft 10-20/25 games on Fri, Sat, and Sun. The games are usually tougher during the week, especially early in the day, just because it's mostly locals. Macau is still a tourist town and much busier on the weekends with new players from China and HK, as well as a few "tourists" from Europe and the US.

I think Lisboa could have a superior 10/20 experience for the following reasons:

+ max buy-in of $3000 vs $2000 at Wynn. More money is on the table
+ more fish, they play almost every hand (which coincidentally always ends up better than my hand).
+ rarely any wait time, whereas Wynn only has 1-2 10/25 tables going and the wait can be quite long (they are opening 3 new tables next week which should alleviate things).

As for strategy, I think it's important to make your opponent show his cards 1st after a hand is played because many of them seem to have card changing abilities. If you show your cards 1st, they'll look then change their cards to whatever beats you. Sounds crazy but I'm actually beginning to believe this.

Seriously, I think the best strategy for Macau is to come well-rolled for multiple buy-ins. You'll likely face a lot of cooler hands that you were destined to get stacked on even though you got your money in while you were ahead. But you play long enough, it should average out and you'll come out a winner. So if you get beat suck it up and rebuy, it shouldn't take too long to win it back.

As someone mentioned before, PokerStars Macau at the Grand Lisboa sells high end chips sets and they come with 2 packs of Copaq cards.

The max buy in at 10-25 at Wynn is $3000 also.

i was there a few months ago for the week playing 10/25, 25/50 and occassionly 50/100. for the 10/25 and 25/50 games, i two-barrelled a lot and that's where the bulk of my profits came in. but you can be sure that if they called a good size turn bet, you're most likely beat and they are almost always calling a good size river bet too. but yes, be prepared for multiple buy ins in the lower stakes games cause you will get coolered quite a bit.

the 50/100 (in the two sessions i played in) were surprisingly tight/passive. maybe i was lucky to have such a line up, so i dont' want to say that the game is always like that. that being said though, i just about broke even in that game.

play solid and play in position and don't get hit with FPS.
