No tourneys scheduled at the moment. The only place where you will find a game for that roll will be 25/50 in Wynn, which occasionally does not run on weekends, so keep that in mind.

As per hotels it's just a personal preference. Personally Galaxy is by far my favorite. Weekend rates can be quite sick even for ****ty places so plan your trip accordingly.

As for sightseeing...google, maybe you'll find something you like. Imo, everything is boring af.

Usually only when it's really busy and fish can't be bothered waiting for a seat for lower limits. 100/200 would be considerably better in Venetian than in Wynn when it runs generally.

Currently living on HK Island (Causeway Bay). Looking to play Macau CGs. Anyone here that I can join on his trips?

Used to play online and live at Spielbank Wiesbaden, Germany.

Going to Macau next weekend. Would appreciate a little update, in case things have changed since May.

1. Can anyone confirm these are the last three remaining poker rooms still active?
2. How is the Babylon these days? Last time I went there, no game were running with a couple of folks waiting for players, looking bored like hell.
3. Now that PokerStars has left the scene, have any of the rooms tried their luck at running some tournaments?

Cheers

1,2. Confirm. Babylon very rarely has like a 100/200 private table hosted by same people for their own fish.
3. No and not likely in the near future. MBP(Babylon) even cancelled their recent series.

I live in Thailand but I rather pay $700 for a flight and stay a week in Vegas than spend time in boring Macau. I want action around the clock and plenty of games to choose from.

Don't get me started on Macau. I live in Hong Kong and rarely have a full week to spare but I still rather play elsewhere. Boring is one way to describe it, but there is a whole list of things that are just not great about the place. Main factor is the huge rake ofc but it goes on with waitlists, too many regs, dealers/staff, limited food/drink options, expensive hotels, difficult to communicate with limited Cantonese and I'm sure I forgot a few things.
I know that sounds like I complain a lot, but normally I don't. At that place there's just too many things. Some or maybe even all of these are perfectly understandable if you know the background but that doesn't make it better.
I think I explored almost all other poker options within less than 3h flight already and while there are a lot of pros and cons and none of them comes close to good places in the western world, in short I think they are all better than Macau.
I mean, that is unless you play high stakes. The availability of high stakes is still a major strong point of Macau and obv the rake is less a factor there.
Ah yes, and I still like Darling1 lol. That place is overpriced too and a couple other small things, but there it's almost always fun, good attitude everywhere, and no/little problems speaking English. That place is the only reason that makes me wanna go back there.

Are there any suanas/fishbowls cheaper than darling 1?
Macau Quote

All the regular saunas are more expensive than darling 1 (and no better). There are a lot of Chinese massage parlors, no personal experience in Macau but you can surely get FS in some of them and most likely cheaper. Locals places are almost always cheaper than gwai lau places. But again these wont be so easy to navigate unless you're fluent in Cantonese.
Generally English abilities are a lot worse in Macau than in Hong Kong and all the places prolly already have a hard enough time finding bilingual Cantonese and Mandarin speakers so English is not important to them, not enough visitors.

So heading to Macau only for one day and looking to play 50/100 or 100/200. Seems to be Venetian and Wynn the best choices and fairly similar in rake for those games. It'll be a Sunday afternoon, will one have a shorter wait list than the other generally?

Thanks for any help!

Those are only choices. The cap at Venetian at 50/100 is 500, Wynn 250. Easier to get a seat in Wynn generally.

Oh just thought of another question. I usually bring a backpack to casinos, carrying book, money, hat etc. Never been a problem except Montreal Casino. Wynn or Venetian ok with a small light backpack usually?

Even a supermarket trolley will be fine as long as got some stacks of cash in it.

Lol thanks. Montreal will let ladies in with the largest purses ever. But will not let any guys even carry a very small backpack in.

it's funny how YMMV. I consider Macau (and HK of course) of one the place in the world where the food is the best and very affordable too (and that comes from a super picky frenchman). Just get "HK & Macau Guide Michelin". from cheap and very good 24/24 cantina like let's say Noodle and Congee bar at GL or Italian or french or chinese Michelin Stared or little noodle place in the old city which are cheaper than McDo, there is just everything at affordable price.
Same goes for Hotel prices. You live in HK and you find Macao hotels expensive, right
I remember staying at places like sheraton during PokerStars festival for like 700 HKD per night during week days and maybe 1K for friday & saturday.
I remember staying at Mandarin Oriental Macau for like 1500 or 2000 HKD, compare with MO HK prices or even MO prices in other cities the world.

Well, with limited food/drink options, I meant specifically in poker rooms (and adjacent facilities such as food courts). E.g. have you ever tried to get a beer at 2am in COD? After involving a total of 4 persons in that incredibly difficult task (that wouldve earned them like 10 US, it's not like it was comped), they gave up.

If you venture out more, and specifically for fine dining, Macau is not bad, that is true. HK is, generally speaking, good for food, yes, although there is quite some variance.

I agree that the Sheraton is good value for Macau, I stayed there twice myself, both the regular room and the suite were good value although I couldnt quite get it at your price. But, I mean, that's anecdotal evidence, once I stayed in a Shangri-La Sydney suite, during Vivid festival, with a panoramic look over the harbor, for like 200US, but I think nobody would claim that Sydney CBD is cheap to stay

I wasn't comparing it with hotel prices in HK (I actually never paid for a hotel room in HK), more like with the local poker competition. I mean you can also play in Manila, or Phnom Penh, Bangkok (not that legal, but it exists, anyway) or even Sihanoukville. In each of these, hotels are a bargain wrt Macau

Any recent market changes in Macau poker ? PokerStars closed but they never had much cash game action outside of tournies.

I assume Wynn Downtown and Venetian still have majority of share?

did Wynn Palace open a room? If so how is it doing?

What about other rooms in Macau?

Would appreciate any market update.

thx
