Planning on going to Macau for a few days in Oktober as a part of a bigger trip to Asia and Australia. I am planning on playing a little bit of poker (PLO), but mostly just checking out the casino’s and the city (as far as there is to see). It is all pleasure, so no incentive to make money, but obvious I don’t want to burn money playing poker there.

My questions:
How many days would you suggest I stay in Macau? I am doing this trip with my girlfriend.
If I were to win money in the few days being there, what’s the best way to convert to euro (or Australian dollar Aussie being the next destination)?

Hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks in advance!

I've checked the pokerstars macau website and there are no events slated after it.
Certain your (un)reliable upper management at COD is incorrect as there is now an additional event slated after the March APPT event:

Will be in Macau tonight for the first time.
Anyone know which casinos generally get an Omaha game running and what the lowest stakes are for Omaha?
I'm guessing there's no stud or mixed games also

Is 300/600+ still running consistently at Wynn? 7 days a week?

Does anybody have information on the 300/600? How often does it run? How many players? Is there a decent amount of non-regs? What's the rake? What's the avg. buyin?

All I can say is that the 300/600 ran every time I was there in the last year or so (which is hardly more than a handful of times). These games run, also higher games, last time I was there in mid March there was a 500/1k as well as a 1k/2k at the Venetian. How often/consistent/how many whales I cannot say, because I am not there often enough and do not play these stakes. You see a lot of westerners though, well, I don't want to call anyone out, but let's just say it's not uncommon to see some well-known western pros at these tables. The rake is still the same, read the thread.
The only new development of my last visit was that Wynn Palace (the one in Cotai, next to CoD, not the main Wynn) closed their poker room in favor of even more baccarat tables LOL. So that leaves 4 casinos with poker.

Thinking about a trip to Macau from the US. Does anyone have any information on getting money there and back? I want to avoid as many fees as possible.

Thanks in advanced.

Pokerstars is finishing their contract with City of Dreams in two days.

They are looking for new room in Macau. I hope they resolve this soon, would be very sad that they stop offering MTT's!

Source: Just emailed PS.

Makes sense now that business is booming in Macau. Taking the space back and setting up more Baccarat tables. Such a big brand would really help drive traffic to one of the other places tho. Perhaps we will see them re-open soon at Studio City (also under the CoD umbrella) or even the new MGM Cotai space.

Will I have entry/exit/visa issues if staying longer than 30 days as a US citizen?

Yes. DO NOT overstay your visa or you may not be allowed to return.

As a US passport holder, you get 30/20/10. On the 29th day, take the ferry to HK, pass through immigration, and then return to Macau (or stay a day). You will then receive 20 days upon your return.

If you go to HK before the 30 is up, it's luck of the draw when you return. For example, if you go on the 15th day, you may receive another 30 upon reenter. Most likely though, you would be stamped with the 20. That's why it's important to wait until the 30 is almost up.

Thank you. Seems that means I cannot take a fun day trip to Hong Kong to explore without risking a shorter visa. Bummer.

Do you know about Mexican citizens? My wife is one and she’d Definitely want to take day trips to Hong Kong while i’m playing.

What happens after the 30/20/10? I can’t return for a certain period of time?

sad news for PS at CoD.
I have lit a candle at the church to wish Rex and the team all the best and suggested a safe return to Grand Lisboa to bring back all the good memories from the past

Let's hope the CoD situation will not affect Manila.

It's unlikely Stars will be returning to Macau in near future. With ownership change to asian way of thinking and the amount of space they have to rent out it's just simply not a viable business decision for them, especially with all the dealer ratio situation and amount of staff it takes to run a 1 cash table. It will take some genius plays from their PR and marketing to make it somewhat breakeven during off tournament times. Poker King is a great example of great opportunities and horrible management with massively overstaffed room who are doing 0 work, 50-100 ppl waiting lists and monster rake. Gotta be some inside reasons to keep such operation going otherwise it doesnt make sense at all.

I think many people can guess why this is probably being kept open.

but yes, for that amount of VIG... it's shocking how they cant seemingly run a good room.

Hey guys,
are there any tournaments running like NLHE or shortdeck + where could I get an overview,if theres any? . From what I've read its only cashgame starting at ~ deep 1/3$ (600$) behind? If you have any advice for me or tips on where I should be staying and change money would be awesome. Thanks in advance

i didnt see many tournaments running last i was there.

and $600 is not very deep considering the rake.

use money changers in HK or try trip advisor. in a bind, swap cash at the casino.

Provide more details on what your plan is for the trip so can suggest something more specific.
