Two days ago I was playing 25/50 at Wynn.
There was this English-speaking nit who invoked "I want to see that hand". He was berating the dealers for having to get the floor to invoke IWTSTH, saying, "Don't you even know your job?!" and similar douchebag things. Of course, that ignited a heated argument that ruined the atmosphere at the table. I left soon after. Once before he wanted to IWTSTH me as well but I mucked extra hard. Bastard.

Could you guys in the States take back your nits? We don't want them.

Was at the same place and period, playing 10/20. Encountered a local reg who keep running to the 100/200 table to watch his friend in between hands. Dealer had to keep calling him back to continue with the game. Irritates everyone at the table to no ends. I am glad I clean him out in 2 consecutive hands. To those at the table who gave me an appreciative look,..it was a pleasure LOL.

Few things you guys need to prepare for before playing in Macau:

1) Slow rolling is the reason these locals play. They just love to do it. You just gotta deal with it.
2) Too many newbie poker "experts". They think they know the rules of the game, but they don't. Just laugh it off and let the "foreign managers" help you.
3) Sick beats. They will call you with any draw. If they think they could make a hand runner runner on you, they will call, awesome. Just deal with the sick beats. In the end they all lose, simple math.
4) Rude, obnoxious players. Just blast that music on your Ipod and you won't hear a thing.

Good luck

FishD and BoDiddleyMacau -

Do I get the usual casino rating if I show my casino player's card at the poker table? Considering the nos of hours sitting there, I probably could clock some decent points.

Not at the moment at both casinos.
But we (Starworld) will be starting a player's point card within the next week or two.
Give points for every hour played which you can use for food, ferry rides, hotels, and even be entered into our monthly tournaments FREE depending on your VIP status.
Will let everybody know when we get it launched.

What do you plan to do about like, not having any players? There are long waiting lists at Wynn, and the room at Starworld is empty. This is not a healthy state of affairs for poker imo.

Also having to go up a set of escalators into the poker room is quite intimidating. Lisboa and Wynn don't have that. The other room with escalators going up (Waldo) isn't doing so hot either!

Actually, you have to go up an escalator to go into Grand Lisboa poker room.
The difference between our poker room and the others is that we're not on the main casino floor where a lot of traffic walks by.

We are trying our best to bring back our players and hopefully by giving back and rewarding players, we'll get some back. I'm sorry that our room is empty, the poker market in Macau is not big enough yet to run 20 tables across Macau.

I have heard MGM is going to join the club early 2009... which is fun to see who could survive in such a small market

oh, and Wynn has 100/200 hkd game running on a regular basis, and players are ridiculously bad. plays like "play money" table on stars.

Yes that is what I meant. Like, I am scared to go up the Starworld escalators because it looks intimidating.

Wow, how do you get through your day to day routine being so easily intimidated?

Wynn has 100/200 regularly now? So thats like 10/25nl? What's the average nightly rate at Wynn? No poker rate I assume?

wish Wynn poker room had some weekly tournaments! and it will be good if they increase the amt of tables .no more waiting list
Fishd talked about some freerolls and monthly tournaments in Star world any news on that?

Other than hoping Wynn increase the amount of tables, an alternative is for all to provide feedback to FishD why StarWorld is not doing as well. They already have the lowest rake so that should be attractive enough. Location is just next to Wynn so that is not a problem either (unlike Grand Waldo). So what is it that we want from StarWorld to make it as attractive a place to play as Wynn and at the same time force Wynn and GL to lower their rake?

No one has mention it but chips quality could be a big factor for starworld not doing well do u guys noticed the diferrnce in weight] + any register counter over there ? were players can look for limits and tables available. Wynn macau poker room is definitely well managed
Hope to see some tournaments there!
Happy new year for all
cheers

Main reason is the room is separated from the main casino floor. Therefore theres no new players trying out the game so the room tends to be filled with rock regs feeding off each other.
After a while those players will drift back to GL or Wynn to look for the easy targets.

Have to admit I never step into StarWorld, so will use Grand Lisboa and Wynn as comparision.

(a) Beside chip weigh, denomination should be considered. Unlike Wynn which play largely with 10 and 100HKD chips (at least on the 10/20 tables), Grand Lisbao has a 50HKD chip which I find quite confusing. A few time I want to call but accidently threw out two 50HKD chips instead. Not sure if anyone noticed but the 10 (or is it 50) chip size at GL is slightly different from the rest of its denomination. Minor irritation.

(b) Someone did mention the proximity to the main casino floor and I agree that is also a draw. The fact that GL's room is located on the 3rd floor did discourage me from going on some occasions. On top of that, the ambience in Wynn is much better than Grand Lisboa.

(c) Wynn allows chip buy at the table. That again is a plus.

My 2 cents worth.....

It's funny you mention that...

This may sound nitty, but the other morning I played there and actually had 6 different chip denominations in front of me (5,10,50,100,500,1k). Not a big deal, but enough to irritate me a little!

talk about chip.... GW has HK$1 coins (not chip) floating around the 10/20 table as well....

I have not been to StarWorld, but quality-wise I bet Grand Waldo has the, better chip in terms of weight, amount all four, they feel very good in hand. GL is too funky/colorful/plastic/toy-like, Wynn is a bit too light.
