Holidays are always good. You get the occasional tourists but your main source of income will be from the young Hong Kong players.

Uhhh no, pretty much most Cantonese-speaking players from either Macau or Hong Kong are incredibly nitty and create generally a bad table atmosphere while buying in short, while the guys from mainland China are the ones who let it go and get their chips in and have tons of buyins in their pockets.

Hey guys, just wanted to know what is a good time to arrive at the poker tables if I want to miss the wait but not be there too early? Preferably info on all the different locations as I'm thinking of going in the next few days for a day trip and don't want to spend the night. Thanks!

I assumed that players can buy in from $2000 - $5000 HKD? What about the 50/100 game? I'll be there for only 1 day and thinking of putting in an 8 hrs session. I'm a 2/5 - 5/10 player in the states.

Thanks all
can be a sick game... can be quite profitable at times. IMO the game becomes terrible value if their a fair number of decent players in the game compared to the north american game because of the high rake of up to 25 usd.

im from canada. I strongly prefer my city's 2/5 game compared to 25/50 of macau.

if you want 50/100 check out the wynn or venetian.

questions about the GRAND WALDO spa....

1. will they hold your bags if you're coming back, or do you let the casino hold them?
2. how much is a 12 hour stay in the cheapest (mutual) sleeping rooms?

actually you're right, there's quite a few Korean lagtards... mainland Chinese tend to like to talk strategy about hands and are seeking to improve even if they're rich and throwing money around, and there's a lot of them that are online grinders... that's my point really, HK players tend to buy in shortish and are quite loud at the tables etc etc.. not all, but enough to sometimes make the table both worse for making $$$ and also for atmosphere..

while on the nationalities, I'm kinda surprised by the # of Europeans who've moved here, because most of them are clearly exaggerating their winrates in conversation and living at OneCentral(expensive) while paying Macau rake(high) is just not that profitable compared to lots of good games in Europe unless you play very high, eg. at leastttt $100/200hkd and up. I also think it's very dumb for most of them to make no attempt to learn some Mandarin/Cantonese because surely that's +EV in these games... at least durrrr is smart and has learned some Mandarin...

but they speak cantonese...

I was interested in learning mandarin but most of my time spent in "china" would be in Macau.

I do think the mainlanders have improve by alot. But since there's an ocean of them (+ koreans/japanese)- i still think it's very possible to make 100K US grinding 25/50 yearly - not easy but do-able.

I never played in Europe, so i can't comment on how the games are there.

That's just what you think. How about some quantifiable proof?

there's a lot of claims over the years on 2p2 that making $100K USD a year grinding 2/5 or 25/50hkd @ (substitute your choice of soft casino) is easy but I've never seen any proof ever.

if there is indeed such a place where 2/5USD = $100K a year it surely will not be somewhere that rakes you $25usd per pot.

Using a full time job as standard, there are 50 weeks in a year, which is 2000hrs/yr. that means you need to earn $50/hr to make 100k.

$50/hr at 2/5 is 10bb/hr.
Avg 30 hands/hr, you need a wine ate of approx 10bb/100 post-rake

And that's assuming u could withstand 2k hrs in a casino.

100k usd/yr is in Macau is possible playing 25/50 hkd... Im almost there as i made 99k usd last year. I blame that on also playing 10/25 20% of the time.

I would be interested to know how many hours this took. I'm sure if you grind 16 hours a day 7 days a week it's possible but that kinda defeats the purpose of being a poker pro.
I make a decent number working 48 hrs/week not to mention insurance and benefits....no need to turn pro based on these accounts...
