If true, certainly great news if MGM and WYNN are planning on opening poker rooms. From my experience, Grand Lisboa certainly takes the most rake but I the games are consistent, I fell comfortable playing there. Grand Waldo is just too far and a pain in the ass waiting for a cab to go back to the Peninsula.

Can't wait to go back if there are new rooms. Hope the games haven't changed too much, my last experience was great. Only problems were the dealers, too many mistakes and too slow. The players were the same though making the games good.

If the MGM launch is next month, I'll book my ticket right away.

I have a question about this weekends Pokerstars Macao Cup at the Waldo.

Quote:
12:30PM Macau Cup Deep Stack Event - No-Limit Hold'em (large starting bank)

Entry: HKD $1,000 (900+100)
Does anyone know what the prize for this tournament is? Is there a guarantee? Or is it just going to be split up using the prize pool allocation table at the bottom of that page?

To the PS staff reading....I don't like how close the events are scheduled. If you look on Saturday, they are 3hrs apart. Do you expect these tournaments to finish within 3hrs? Oh and btw, I thought the English spelling is Macao and not Macau (this being the Portuguese spelling)

The prize pool for Macau Poker Cup - Deep Stack Event will be based on the number of registered players. This tournament is quite popular so the prize pool should be substantial.

The major tournaments on Saturday are the 12:30 PM - Deep Stack Event and the 6:00 PM - Red Dragon Event. The Phase 1 Satellite is scheduled at 3:30 but also available upon request throughout the weekend. BTW, the Phase 1 Satellite is actually HKD 750...sorry about the typo.

Both Macau and Macao is acceptable. Even the local newspapers are different. Macau Daily Times (english) and Macao Daily News (chinese).

Hope to see you at PokerStars Macau or Macao

Sands has a single 'Lightening Poker' electronic poker table, dead all day from what I have heard.

You could try the Golden Dragon near the ferry terminal, it seems to be going for around $625 per night and is a 15 minute walk away from GL.
Try going to one of the local travel agencies, they normally have the best rates.

Not sure but the Grand Emperor is across the street and I think it's a decent price. It's right next to the mall. Not sure about internet though.

Internet is average, they have a block of bandwidth and its shared across whole hotel, so peak times is really slow in rooms, OK for nighttime online play though

i went to macau six months ago. the only place they had non-chinese poker was at lisboa, highest stake they had was something equivalent to between a 3-5 and 5-10 NL. they would have 1-2 of these tables and 2-3 of a lower 1-3 tables.

chinese players were very very loose. some players from europe, australia, and US.

we stayed at venetian, which was kind of a mistake since it was so far from the main area, although casino is absolutely huge. better bet is the wynn, which is across the street from lisboa.

[edit] That's "grand" lisboa, and the dealers deal like one hand very ten minutes, very slow.

Will all Wynn NL games be uncapped like they are in Vegas?

How often do games 50/100 or higher run that have a rake of 250 or less?

How soft are those games?

Where are they played?

What would be the best hotel to stay at for under $100 per night that is in very close proximity to those games?

Best hotel for less than usd100 nearby would be the GRAnd Emperor, about a 7-10 minute walk, 2 minute taxi ride. STarworld and Lisboa both have HK$50/100 and HK$100/200 running. RAke is capped at HK$150 at Starworld on 50/100 and both Lisboa and Starowlrd are capped HK$200 for higher games

The NL games at Wynn Macau are going to be capped.

Any idea what the cap will be and what the biggest regular or semi regular game will be? Also the 100/200HKD game...this is no limit? If so, what is buyin cap? Thanks in advance!

I believe the cap on 25-50 will be $5k and I think the $50-100 will be $10k. Max rake on 25-50 and above will be $200. From what I've seen, the 50-100 and 100-200 go a few times a week in Macau. I've seen the 50 game played with an auto straddle also (50-100-200). All games in Macau are NL, although I've seen Starworld spread a 20-40 FL. Not sure that's actually legal, but no one seems to mind.

Just to clarify, there is no Chinese Poker in Macau currently. Not in any casino at any rate.
I'm glad to sat that the dealers at GL have improved significantly over the last few months and the addition of shuffling machines has been a great help as well.

hey y'all...I'm back!!!

ok, didn't play live poker for most of sept (just online) but thought I'd give an update on the scene on macau since I've been back for bout 2 wks.

Grand Lisboa
Pros: still the king of cash games. games are always running here 24/7 and most newbies. plenty of action for small/medium stakes.
Cons: don't play the uberturbo sit and gos which are ******ed. think they have 5 or 10 blinds. poker rulings are inconsistent.
Other: best buffet imo upstairs above poker room

StarWorld
Pros: seems like the bigger games are regularly here. definitely has people who like this place. funky tables like mandatory straddle small stakes games.
Cons: I hate smoke and this place can get bad since it's not a big area.
other: hot hosts and great band in bar on 16th floor

PokerStars/Grand Waldo
Pros: only place to play tournaments and they have guarantees. can't confirm but heard the 100K guarantee on saturday is now 150k. structure is good on tournies and tilting tournament dudes who bust are donktastic on the cash games.
Cons: weekday is pretty dead. go when there are tournaments.
Other: best spa in macau and cheap

Wynn
anybody heard anything?

I'm off to Macau in 2 weeks. What's a nice cheap hotel close to grand lisboa? I'm looking at 600- a night for 3 nights (Thu, Fri, Sat). Any reccos?

What's the rate at the Grand Lisboa?

Cheers, I'll see you at the tables there.

Yup! Going back in a couple months. Would like to stay near GL. Last time, I stayed at a decent place but it was all the way in Taipa. Don't wanna be doing that again.

Also, some people mentioned the Waldo Spa. That's great but what do I do with my suitcase? Nothing too valuable, but I will be bringing my laptop. Sauna lockers are usually pretty small.

There is Grand Waldo hotel right next to the Spa. Ask them to keep your suitcase for you while you go to that spa.
