I'll be in HK/Shenzhen from around April 27-May 12... Hopefully I'll get some time to hop over to Macau for a night or two to put in a session.

I went in 2008 when poker only spread at GL and apparently another casino I didn't visit.

I stayed at the Presidential (?) hotel that trip and didn't really go anywhere except check out the casinos (GL, Wynn, and MGM). I only have the roll for $1/2 CDN, so I'll be looking for 15/25 HKD games. The consensus from this thread is Wynn and GL are where I want to be?

Any recommendations on cheap (decent) hotels to stay near these casinos? Also, I didn't go out or see anything in Macau last time I went. Any personal recommendations on two or three NON-tourist places to hit near the casinos? (restaurants, bars, clubs,...)

Thanks.

Even in GL?

What about 200-400 or 300-600?

GL is Grand Lisboa.
Normally the highest they have running is 30/60 but during events they sometimes get a 100/200 running.

For higher stakes go to Wynn

FYI, 200/400 NL isn't spread anymore at Wynn. Either 100/200 or 300/600 run regularly though.

Why did the Wynn get rid of 200/400?

Since 100/200 and higher are uncapped, they played too much like the same game. Effectively, they would just cannibalize each other (think 3-6 and 4-8 limit games).

The jump to 300/600 makes a big enough difference where the player pool is a little different, and both games can run at the same time more easily.

Makes sense, so has 300/600 been running more during Macau millions ?

So how much are the regs winning in these games?

How many bb per hour are the solid regular players winning at 25/50 and 100/200, anyone knows?

Just want to get me an idea of how good the games are even tho the rake is pretty bad.

Hi SupremeNinjia,

We just opened a "grind office" in a 4 bedroom apartment, where you could stay during your trip from April 27 to May 12...we are a bunch of poker players who live already long time in Macau, so we also know some nice non-casino spots (restaurants, wine bars, old taipa village taverns, beach, etc).
The apartment is located in Taipa Old Village, 5 minutes from Venetian, City of Dreams, etc. It is fully furnished with nice view to Venetian, you will like it...We just charge 100 HK$ per night.

I think there are quite a few "live poker pros" living in Macau .. kind of hard to put a number on it , put there is a group of hardcore poker players playing day and night at different limits who appear to only play poker for a living

Anyone have an idea of about how much money that leaves the table per hour because of rake in macau games? Am most interested in 25/50 and 100/200 games.

I dont really understand what you are trying to say.

Just like Vegas, casino and gambling is to Macau for decades. There are all forms of pro that are related to gambling. From baccarat pros, BJ pros to loan sharking. Alot of these pros have moved to poker when they discovered by applying the basics they can play a game with an edge and make a living.
Being a pro dose not mean you have to be good. Your local taxi driver is a professional car driver...are you going to laugh at him because he is not on the same level as Ayrton Senna.

impossible to tell you this unless you can provide the average vpip and pot sizes of the tables. also helps if you tell us the name of the dealer so we can look up how many hands they're capable of dealing per hour. for a more accurate #, list the players sitting at the table so we can figure out how fast/slow they play.
