Sorry if this has been answered already.

Is the 3-5 NLHE game actually a spread limit game w/max bet of 200$?
Is there a time rake for this game or just a drop?

Getting conflicting reports.

Will be taking public transportation from SF Chinatown area for a quick stop next weeknight. Is there a shuttle to/from Bart & Casino?

Thanks in advance.

3/5 is definitely no limit. 4+1 drop.

there is a shuttle from Colma bart station to the casino. Just call the casino and ask when it runs.

I like the 5-10 here. Theres a few good regs, but otherwise the game seems pretty decent

Some corrections....

3/5 - 2-3 very good regs I avoid. Rest are nitty or bad TAGs with no imagination. Most of the players are not good but pounce on weakness there. Most don't have any obvious tells. Many regs think at most level 2 "what he has" but only using observable information and not relative to the board or the action.

1/1/2 - collaborating some data with others the actual and probable max winrate is $30 an hour. This is only if you are at a table with MAX stacks of $200+. Otherwise it's a hair ripping experience. Most have glaring tells. Don't play @ a table full of short stackers. All your weapons are gone.

hello all

I am new to SF and also relatively new to poker. I wanted to play 5-10 at LC because I think it suits my risk profile (used to be an options trader so like the big swings!) even though I'm sort of a beginner.

Two questions:

How long does it take to get to LC from SF on a Friday after work? How many tables and how long is the wait to get on one?

Next, who are some of the best regs there? No need to point them out obviously if it's something controversial, but I like to watch good players and learn from them, so it would be great if you can point out a few of the best in your opinion so I can shadow them

Driving to LC from SF takes around 15 to 35 min depending on traffic.
We get the 5T started around 2pm everyday and a 2nd game starts around 5/6pm on most week days. So if u get there around the time games start it shouldn't take too long for you to get in.
As far as who the best regs in the game are... hmm so you haven't started playing that game yet and you already want names?

Lucky Chance 1/1/2 Floor staff is pretty horrible. That being said, most of the regs at this level are totally awful. You'll find a few who are good, but the rest of the regs are totally exploitable. (AND) That being said, the regs here seem to run like the sun.

Bump. Any recent reviews of this place? Will be staying very near here for a work trip this week.

Interested in 3-5 NLHE.

I have nothing to report on the NLHE action at LC as I don't play those games.

My news is that LC is now spreading $4/$8 Stud/8 (with a $1 ante, a $1 bring-in, and a drop of $4+$1). I played in the game last night for the first time. I'm told they've been spreading it for about 2 months now. On Thursdays (from noon Thursday to noon Friday, to be exact), they double the Stud jackpot (which was at $13.6K last night; any quads beaten qualifies, 50/20/30 split). At midnight on a Thursday night there was one $2/$4 Stud (high only) table and two $4/$8 Stud/8 tables going with a short wait list. I was told the Stud/8 game has been going not just Thursdays but other days of the week as well.

The $4/$8 Omaha/8 player pool seems to have gravitated to this new $4/$8 Stud/8 game. I hadn't played this game live in 6 or 7 years, and I'm certainly no pro at it, but the overall level of play seemed horrible. People continuing with just about any 3 starting cards, chasing small pots with one-way hands, cold-calling raises on 5th and 6th Street, etc. Many players seemed more interested in LC's various promotions (high hand bonuses, rack attacks, and double jackpot) than in beating the game itself. I won $275 in about 2.5 hours, mostly by pounding the pot when I had a made low on 5th or 6th Street and was up against multiple opponents obviously playing for high.

I'm hoping this may eventually morph into an EO game. I wish the stakes were a little higher, but LC hasn't been able to sustain an Omaha/8 game bigger than $4/$8, so I don't expect the Stud/8 game to be any different.

What limits do they spread for Limit Hold em (Did I say that right)?

Whenever I talk to people about this place, the reputation seems pretty poor. Why the bad rep?

Probably comes from the fact you have to drive thru a couple miles of cemetery on both sides and then once you get to the casino itself, there is hardly any parking outside and you have to go to the underground parking lot which in itself is just as eerie.

Unless something has changed very recently, the only LHE game spread is 3-6

I make ~$40 per hour @ the 1/1/2. The other player made $30 but he is almost as skilled as I am I'd say. He has the brain and the training just not the years of experience in live play like I do.
Biggest downswing at 1/1/2? Strange and limiting structure but definitly very beatable. different kind of special fish at LC lol

Bumping since Postle put twoplustwo back on my radar and this is my home cardroom.

LC runs 1/1/2 and 3/5 NL pretty much 24/7 , 7 days a week. 5/10 runs on occasion during prime hours, though often 3/5 is a better game since less of a regfest.

There is a 5/5 PLO game I keep wanting to play but you have to show up at the right time or you can’t get a seat. I believe it’s a lot of pros but I just want to play PLO.

They also always run 3/6 limit and low limit stud and o8. They tried and failed to run bigger limit games.

I feel since its the closest cardroom to SF proper this room should have so much bigger action than it does. I feel like they undermarket it. The bigger tourneys always get huge turnouts but they run out of tables so people have to wait as alternates. I heard they can’t get more tables due to regulation?

They scheduled Gold Rush tourney series for the exact same dates as the big Thunder Valley WPT which I think will be terrible for both rooms as there is a ton of cross pollination.

Overall an unremarkable room but they have consistent 3/5 and an ok tournament schedule so it’s my home turf.

Have they finally moved to true NL games or are they still spread-limit? Played there quite a bit when I lived in CA (mid 2000s) but everything was still SL at that time.

It's NL, been playing at LC for a few years and never heard of spread limit there.

The PLO game is actually 5/10 with mandatory 20 straddle so really 5/10/20, unlimited buyin so mix of very deep stacks and short stacks. The floor person had told me the straddle isn't mandator but they use a button for it so I think you'll cause unnecessary drama if you refuse. Game Runs Tues/Thu.

They tried to get 2/3 PLO started which runs on occasion, it used to run Wed night but they tried to start it last Thursday. They cap that at 500 so its less intimidating a game but I think that's misguided since I think there's people who want to play somewhat bigger than $500 stacks but not ready for $5k deep 5/10/20. Think a 1000 cap makes more sense.

Either way nice that PLO has momentum in the room.

Planning to play the tourney this weekend. But I've never been here.

Any idea how early you have to show up to guarantee you are not an alternate?
Shows that it starts at 9:30a.m.

Prob 10AM to be safe but if you're an alternate you'll prob get a seat after a brief wait.

You mean you can buy a ticket 30min after the tournament starts and still likely not be an alternate? I was thinking I had to show up before it starts.

Well I can't make you a promise but having played there many times I think if you show up before 10AM you'll be fine. I've never showed up before 10AM and only time I was an alternate was when I showed up after 10:30 and even then I got seated pretty quickly.

Cool thanks for the info! I'll probably just show up around 9:30 then.

Poker Atlas says PLO 2/3 is spread. Does it in fact go and how often?
