If anyone could help, that would be much appreciated. I know that there are some indian joints out in Temecula, are those any good?
If you're playing anything bigger than 1/2NL you can get 100bb (or more) games. 200bb for 5/5 at Bike and Hustler.

Anyone know what mixed games are included in the 40-80+ mixed games that have been running at the Bike? Thanks for any help.

IIRC it's mostly drawing games with some O8 and Stud8. The most common rotation I've seen is:

Badacey
Badeucy
Badugi
2-7 TD
A-5 TD
O8
Stud8

There's also a 40/80 mix that occasionally runs at Hawaiian Gardens. It's probably the same mix as the Bike but not sure.

Strange to play both A-5 and deuce in the same mix. For some reason I thought they played another stud game in the mix, maybe razzdugi. Can anyone who has played recently confirm the most common mix? Visiting soon and want to make sure I'm not caught too rusty on any of the games.

What's the easiest way to get from Westwood over to bike/commerce without cabbing or renting a car?

Bike, walk or uber seem to be the remaining options.

You could skip, hop, run, shamble, crawl, dance, or jump. But really should get a car or take uber, you're in SoCal.
Tricycles and skateboards are also options.

What option were you looking for?
I'm sure a bus would get you there after a number of stops.

Take the bus down Westwood Blvd to the Westwood/Rancho Park expo line station. Take the expo line downtown. Find some bus downtown that will take you the rest of the way. Start now, and you should get there by next Tuesday.

Im tired of playing on bovada but the buy in structure and rake in california seems unbeatable or close to it unless u play 5/10 or higher. I really want to go play live but not if its just setting money on fire with the BI in cap+ drop/rake.

Yup, I'm in the same boat. Some legal, CA only online poker sites would be mighty nice right now.

I play live at LA casino's. I'm a regular at Hollywood Park and frequent Bicycle, Commerce, and Hustler when I need to. I mostly play $5-$5 nlhe and jump in $5-$10 when the game looks like a soft lineup. I mostly want to start a thread here to talk over strategy, win rate at these stakes, recommended hours per week, other ventures players are apart of, etc. I think it would be a great idea for some of the other mid to high stakes players to create more of a community here that play regularly in LA. I'm also curious as so what sources or threads you guys think are more useful for studying as a live player off the felt. I know talking poker with friends, reviewing my own hands, and watching poker helps; but are there specific podcasts, threads, training sites that work best for you guys? Let me know

As a sample of my own playing: I play about 15-20 hours per week, with about a $70 per hour win rate. I try to keep my hours on the lower side to avoid burn out, tilting, chasing and to continue to work in other ventures/jobs.

I think it would be great to hear others input, what other people are doing, and think of the overall LA scene for poker.

How many hours in your sample? If you make $70 an hour from poker, what advice do you expect to receive from others that you haven't already figured out yourself?

It's over a year and a half sample. I'm not looking to just 'figure it out' on here. I'd like to have open discussion with other LA poker players. I can mention other poker material/media I enjoy but I am interested in hearing other fresh sources. For instance: i enjoy Joe Ingrams podcast, upswing poker twitch channel, live at the bike, and 2+2 pokercast. But none of these have too much poker strategy (especially for live players). They work great to know the lifestyle of poker players but I'd like to continue growing.

you really think discussing win rates and player strength is a good way to keep the games good/alive in LA or do you not care/think about it? I'm all for helping people out but why would you do this in a public space??? you know you're going to get every breakeven/slightly winning player or worse really good players to drop everything and come to your area if they are given a perception that it's great.... how will that help you??? If you're making $70/hr move up to 10-20 ffs also stop being a nit

Which LA casino is the nicest for poker room? If I play in LA, I want to play in the nicest set up possible so I can be focused on my game. I'm thinking to go to Bicycle eventually, I think it's brand new and I heard they have free food in the poker room based on yelp reviews.

My favorite poker room in Vegas is Palazzo. I've always had good luck there, I think the high ceiling and it's non cramped layout really makes it easier to stay focused. I just don't wanna play in a poker room that feels like a crowded cubicle farm.

I made $400-450 in about 2-3 hours of playing.

I was up $500+ in profit at one point, but that money high made me do stuff I normally wouldn't do so I kinda gave away money.

And I only bought in for $200, so I tripled my investment. So walked out w/ $630 cash.

I play the $100-$300 at hp at least 3x a week. Also play on latb recently. Prefer hp due to driving distance and game selection.

Is free food still around at the bike or no?
