and twice they are playing 20/40 (one full ring game)
the floor man tell me 9/18 and 20/40 are the same ppl
sometime they want to play 20/40 (indicating they are visitors/ppl from outside) then they bump it up

they have 1/2 4/8 stud hi running both one table
(i went there on tuesday and saturday)

I sit on that 20/40 game...
I feel i m definitely outsider
they seems to know each other

I say it is a good game but one really needs to play cautiously

What the other guys said is correct.. Although next time go to the high limit room and the floor is more knowledgeable there... I asked front floor where the 4/8 plo8 game was so i could find my friend and they couldn't tell me... Then i texted him and he was like 6 feet away from the desk lol

Yeah, that's true..

Still, the people that work in these rooms know nothing about poker.

True story, I once heard a customer ask the floorman at commerce if they have stud/8. The floorman said "yes, they have 4/8 stud and 20/40". I told the guy they don't. I told the floorman the customer meant stud hi-lo. He looked at me confused...

I didn't understand wtf was being played at commerce. Poor floor guy had no idea how to explain it to me but he was really nice and genuinely trying to help.

UGH, I can't stand to hear people talk like this. All it does is confuse the players when they go to a room and the games are identified by the blinds, like they should be! Whoever decided to make this the standard in LA needs to be kicked in the balls, or vagina.

Being that there's more live poker in LA than there is in any other area, maybe it's the other places that should change.

And they do it the way they do it because to the true newbs, buy in is more important to them. You see that dynamic in practice all the time.

I have been to casino offering 1/3 nl with buyin cap different (100, 300 and 600) the tables did play differently according to the buyin cap
Maybe this is part of the reason they indicate it with the buyin amount

All good here, I guess the post came off a lil more aggro than I intended. Thanks for the support though!

By Commerce standards, actually it wasn't that aggro.

Moved to LA In January and play roughly 4 times a week depending on the sessions. Due to proximity I play at HP more than the other local casinos. Never had an issue once or felt that my safety was in jeopardy. Yes the games are fishy. Yes you may need a few bullets, but they have many games running around the clock.

I tried out the hustler for the first time this past week. Besides the distance, about 28 miles, this was by far the nicest casino out of all the options in the area.

I sure I will run into many of you but if you want to run some hands, shoot the ****, or have a beer let me know. Looking for local grinders to catch up with.

Does anyone know if the game still goes at Hollywood Park?
20/40 EO goes everyday at HP with 2-3 games during busy times. The game starts by 10am Mon-Sat and starting afternoons on Sundays. Games go overnight regularly. The 40/80 Omaha goes most days. Best to call and ask for top section for info.

At bike, three scans are needed for a free entree and 2 sides. I don't know all the details. Scans DO NOT carry forward on a monthly basis. So if you get 10 scans and use 9, the left over scan does not carry forward to the next month.

Each scan expire after 24hrs as far as free meal goes but saved for weekly Sunday drawing tickets.

So in other words if you don't wait for three hours before ordering food you have to pay, no matter how many hours a week or month you're there.

This isn't totally accurate. In the lower stakes games, 3 scans makes you eligible for a $4 food voucher. These expire at 6am. But in their higher stakes games, the scans last until the end of the month and 3 scans are worth a complete meal.
