Never been to hustler but to be honest the low stakes cash at the bike is one of the juiciest I've ever played.

Bike have 4/8 stud daily, often at least 2 tables.

Occasionally 8/16 OE

It used to. Sadly, my last 3 outings to Bike have seen an interest list only, but no game. If the cantankerous old grey head is not around, it doesn't seem to go.
I've been to LA 3x since early May, and it's been a no-go mostly. Have not heard any day that it's more likely

Actually $9/18OE has been running at least 4 times a week the last 2 weeks.

At the Bike right now and just went to check, it is currently running 5 handed, and has been going since i believe around 6pm today.

Does Bicycle still have the 20/40 OE as well? Surprised they are spreading 9/18, that's just an odd limit.

Agree it's an odd limit, I heard it was 9/18 I can confirm tomorrow game is not running anymore

Haven't seen 20/40

If you're there tomorrow, it would be great if you could check to see if 20/40 is going or ask if it still goes. 6-12 months ago it was going almost every day, at the very far end of the room near the TV table.

I won't go there until Thursday I will ask then, but confirm 9/18OE is what's running almost daily now.

20/40 Saturdays

That is really surprising if the 20/40oe is only going once a week now. It had been going every day, sometimes two tables, and they had a few hosts to get it started.

Does anyone know if the game still goes at Hollywood Park?

I have a question about the 30 main event seats satty @ the bike: do they sign u up or give you 10k cash if you were to satty in?

One thing to know about the Bicycle WSOP sat is that when it says 30 seats guaranteed, that actually means that there will only be 30 seats and none will be added, no matter how many people buy in on Day 2.

This was not clear last year, which lead to some hard feelings when folks who bought in Day 2 for 2K found out that all of their money was going to pay places 26th - two hundred some, and not to add more seats.

Most of us were used to the previous structure, where you could play satellites in to the 1K satellite. I did this one year, playing a $160 sat that got me a seat into the main 1K sat that got me a main seat. The only thing you won from the smaller sats was a seat into the $1000 main sat, the only money paid out was the remainder left over after seats were accounted for.

Now they all feed into Day 2, and everyone gets paid some small amount with the top 30 (last year it was 25) getting WSOP main seats. If you buy into Day 2 , if you bust the first hand you will get something like $400.

A cynical person would say that by not adding seats, they pay out more folks who can continue to play and pay rake at the Bike and not taking another 10K to Vegas.

This is actually why I am currently at the RIO playing satellites instead of the Bike.

9/18 has been around for a long time now. it came about because of tight 10/20 games and in them the pots would look so small live ones wouldnt get in. so they went to playing 9/18 with dollar chips and even in heads up pots there were lots of chips to look at.
plus in a rake game the chips taken out arent missed so easily.

same reason they play 40/80 wit ten dollar chips instead of 50/100/
and with 25/50

Yeah, I get it, I know they used to have 9/18 holdem at Commerce. Since everyone in LA has 8/16 as a standard limit, and most of the games are 4/8 chip, just seems like they would do that.

I'm still wondering what happened to the 20/40 though.

the 20/40 OE used to go at Hollywood Park, then moved to the Bike when there was some kind of ownership/management change. It could be that it moved back, some of the players liked HP better for some reason.

I agree that 9/18 seems like a weird limit, but can attest to the love of SoCal players for having lots of chips to play with. There was a 10/20 yellow chip ($5) game that used to go at the Bike, but it was a struggle to keep it filled.

Well, on weekends and if players want to play 20/40, they bump it up.

The main host usually tweets the game that goes

Good to know, thanks. That does seem pretty ridiculous. I am driving down from San Luis Obispo tomorrow to play in this.

I'm also wondering about Day 2 stacks. The flyers and blog seem to imply that your Day 1 stack carries over into Day 2, but it's never clearly written anywhere. Was that the case when you played?

Yes, it runs like any several day tourney where your stacks carry over. If you buy in on Day 2, they specify how many chips you get. I think it wound up being about the chip average.

The time I played in it, we happened to have the chip leader on our table, he fortunately was on my right. So be prepared to face a variety of stacks right from the start.

Got it, ty again. We are 30 minutes in and there are 41 runners, 10 seats guaranteed.

Direct buy-in tomorrow is 10x today's starting stack. That's going to be hard to accumulate today...

Well, in case anyone cares, here's an update:
We got 98 runners
But, the word was that anyone making it through today would get a 250k starting stack (the direct buy-in amount), because today's event was a "satellite," not a "Day 1."

Top 10 got a seat into tomorrow. I busted in 15th.

hello
I went to LA twice in last two month or so...
I did not see OE at HP
the board girl clearly do not know what is stud...
the floor man and board girl are not very helpful

I went to bicycle twice
and twice they are playing 20/40 (one full ring game)
the floor man tell me 9/18 and 20/40 are the same ppl
sometime they want to play 20/40 (indicating they are visitors/ppl from outside) then they bump it up

they have 1/2 4/8 stud hi running both one table
(i went there on tuesday and saturday)

I sit on that 20/40 game...
I feel i m definitely outsider
they seems to know each other

I say it is a good game but one really needs to play cautiously

Yes, it's surprising how little the people that work in a poker room actually know about poker.

At HPC, you probably have to say "20/40 mix" for them to know you are referring to O/E.

Just like you'd have to say "40" instead of "1/2 nl"...

And yes, the 9/18 and 20/40 have the same player pool of props, regs, and occasional drop-ins.

It's standard in LA that NL games are identified by the buy-in amount instead of the blinds. Why this practice began originally I have no idea.
